About A Serene Setting Assisted Living in Round Rock, Texas

A Serene Setting is a quaint and rustic residential home on a 1.5-acre lot, in Round Rock, TX. Just on the outskirts of Austin, TX we are a stated licensed Small Type B Assisted Living/Personal Care Home. You will find us quietly tucked away on the corner of Sam Bass and Old Settlers' Blvd in Williamson County, TX. While maintaining city convenience and accessibility, it remains a quiet and peaceful senior home. For over 16 years, we have cared for many residents with different backgrounds and situations. We understand the struggles and grief that families have gone through, just to even consider another alternative than having mom and dad at home. We know how hard you have tried to keep them at their home or even at home with you and your family. When it gets to a point where you can no longer manage your own life and theirs, it is important to recognize that you have come further than most. Another option for your senior may not be just what is best for their life, but potentially for your life as well. It is essential to remember that you are not giving up of them, but are providing an optimal solution for parent, yourself, and even your family. A Serene Setting is a state-licensed facility, but is an actual home. If your parent does not enjoy living in large institutions, our home is an excellent option. You can rest assured that your loved one will thrive in a safe and comfortable environment with dignity and respect. We maximize their independence as much as possible, but never force them. We understand every day is different, and always provide care at their pace. Your loved ones will enjoy their golden years, while receiving wonderful personal care. We take away the hardships of your parent's day-to-day personal needs, so you can enjoy spending time together. Your loved one will have access to visiting doctor groups, home health nurses & therapists, and hospice care. If they're coming from a rehabilitation center, we will continue those therapies with a great home health agency, so they will not lose the strength they gained in rehab. We work alongside and closely with the outside care providers of your choice to ensure your loved one's health needs are as best as it can be in a home setting. Most of our residents are aging in place, and we are a long-term care facility that can provide end-of-life care. You will not need to worry about moving your parent around when their needs change and the care they require increases. We do not charge for different levels of care. We understand that most people have a certain budget, and by not charging for different levels of care, we are able to help our families effectively plan their finances. This helps alleviate extra stress when your parent has a long-term illness and will require more care in the future. Our prices are also very competitive. We treat our residents not as patients, but as family members. In such a service, we have had the honor through the years of watching families grow and change. We have seen children become parents, parents become grandparents, and grandparents become great grandparents and even great great grandparents! Our residents and families have also watched us become parents, and shared our special milestones. Placing your parent in a nursing home may leave you feeling guilty and your parent resentful. Having a caregiver come to their home or your own home can bring out some insecurities, and be pricey long-term. Renting them their own apartment in an independent living may be ideal for some seniors who are still independent, but not fitting for seniors that need help with their activities of daily living. Giving them our home could be the best decision you'll make to meet their health and personal care needs in a loving and homey environment. I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I was the caregiver for a former resident who passed away in the summer of 2023. The resident was a family friend and he was a resident at A Serene Setting for about 2 years. I was very pleased with the care and attention provided by the staff at A Serene Setting. The entire staff was excellent and did a great job of caring for my friend. I highly recommend A Serene Setting.

Provider Response

Hi Ron, Thank you for your thoughtful words. We were happy to provide care and attention to your family friend.

If I can give 10 stars to this facility, I would! My mother was cared for at this facility for five amazing years. The staff at Serene Setting is amazing. They truly cared and loved my mother till the very end! My mother, her room, and clothes were always clean! The food there is extremely good! The staff was very attentive to her! The owners, Colleen, and Rey were equally amazing. They kept me informed of everything that was going on with my mother! I highly recommend this facility for your loved ones!

Provider Response

Thank you for the kind words Bridget. It was an honor to care for your mom all those years.

I visited this facility

A Serene Setting Assisted Living was fine. It seemed to be well-staffed, but I think the only space that they had was a shared space, which we were not interested in (we wanted an individual private space). It's a separate home, and I thought it seemed to be clean, but it also seemed to be very crowded.

Provider Response

Thank you for touring our facility, and the positive review. We offer both private and semi-private rooms to accommodate different family needs. At the time of your tour, a shared semi-private room was the only bed available. Beds are based on availability. Our facility is in a residential home, providing a home-like setting for residents looking for an alternative to a large institution. Our residents have the freedom to enjoy the common family areas with others, and not feel alone. Our top priority is to provide exceptional care to our residents in a loving environment.

My aunt moved into A Serene Setting Assisted Living. It was excellent. They're very friendly, very welcoming, and very warm. There was very good food, and they have all the proper items in place for someone who's mobility is a little bit hampered. There was lots of greenery, trees, and it's very serene.

This is a family run group home that creates a sense of family that for the last year half of my dad's life really made a difference in terms of his well being both physical and emotional. Colleen, Reynaldo, their two young daughters, and their staff run the place like the home it is. The level of care far exceeded our previous experiences in other group and nursing homes and beat the care at a pricy rehabilitation hospital. Two staff members are on duty at all times and in the morning there are three, so dad never had to wait or repeatedly call for help. During his last months the regular turning and wound care was done punctually and with great compassion. There is an open friendly vibe to the place with humor and compassion for all. We celebrated birthdays, new borns, and holidays (the pot luck Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with all the residents and their families was lots of fun). With my dad's passing we still feel connected and we'll stop by from time to time to see the family and the other residents who we have come to know and love.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My dad did not want to go into a nursing home, but he was discharged from the hospital not yet ready to take care of himself. We found Serene Setting, and were thrilled. So many nursing homes are sterile, cheerless places devoid of any character whatsoever, and that's exactly what we did NOT want, and what my dad would not have accepted. He'd already been in perfect and sterile, and hated it. My dad was at Serene Setting for three months or so, until he got his strength back. He was very happy there. So many older people are unable to communicate, which puts them at risk for being abused. My dad was very alert and knew exactly what was going on, and he told us that the residents were all treated very well. The food was good (and he is picky about his food!), and they were sweet about catering to his desires. They would make him a sandwich any time he asked, and always made sure he got food if he missed a meal while at dialysis. Although he wanted to be in his own home, he was happier here than at any of the other nursing homes he had been at. And never once was he allowed to go too low on his blood sugar, like the other places that ignored watching out for him. Praises for Serene Setting! Thank you.

I visited this facility

I visited Serene Setting. It was like a home, with pretty trees -- also with walking trails outside and a nice patio area, and that's what was good about it, but when you walked in the house, it was an older house, it was dated, you had multiple people in most of the rooms, and we only had a couple of rooms. I was not impressed. All the ladies were sitting outside having their dinner. I watched what the people were eating, and what I saw on their plates didn't even look appealing. It looked like slop to me, and most of the people left it behind. So, I could say that they didn't like it very well. We went into the bedroom, the doors in the closet were flimsy and not even set in there straight. However, the people seemed to be caring and the people who were working there had worked there for many years with these people. Their attitude was good. It was just not visually appealing to me. There was a little garden area outside where they could do a little box gardening, and there was a trail all the way around the house that they could go walking on. There was flat screen TV on the wall with several Lay-Z-Boy chairs, but they were worn and the carpet needed to be replaced in the central area. The central area should be very appealing and nice. To me, it was not. I couldn't say it was dirty, but it was old and used. Beyond that, I didn't see anything. It was just not a place that I would put my mom.
