We moved our mother to Gulf Point Village because she had been there, and we knew that it's a good facility. They're just very on top of everything. For example, they had a fire in the building the other day, and they were able to get everyone out orderly. Amber is the director up there, and she's just really nice. She's really hands-on with the people that live there. She makes her rounds every day, and she manages to talk to everyone. She also calls me and gives me updates. My mom just sometimes doesn't like the food that they make, but they have a really good chef there. Their meals are always at the same time, and they're always a well-rounded meal. My mom just sometimes doesn't care for what they have. They have a lot of activities.

All of the staff at Gulf Pointe Village was supposedly cross trained for all the jobs, so anybody that was cooking might also be cleaning your toilet. It was an older facility; it was on the coast, so it was kind of damp and used up, but it was less expensive. It does not have really good lighting which is important for mom because she can’t see well. She stayed there as long as she did because she had friends in the area that were still active and could still drive and she could still see them. Mom said the food was OK, but the dining room was not as nice. They were a little more flexible with their transportation. They took their medication administration function seriously.

Gulf Pointe Village is in South Texas, and we decided to check it out for our uncle. It looked like a lovely community for any senior. The fresh flowers at the entrance smelled fragrant, and the rooms looked bright. The staff offered us fresh baked cookies that were made so that any person could enjoy them -- whether diabetic or another dietary issue. They were delicious. The menus we saw also included a lot of really appetizing options. The common rooms struck us a something one might find in a smaller resort. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy a variety of activities. The residents enjoy many visits out and about the area, as well. Because the weather is so mild, they can spend a lot of time outdoors. The dining areas were well designed, comfortable and fresh. The food looked very well thought out and the samples we tried were really great. There are many options to choose from, and the staff can also prepare special meals on request. Every dietary need is accommodated. The snacks looked really appetizing, as well. The residents all seemed very well taken care of and content. We really enjoyed our visit and could see that it is a very nice place to live.
