My mom is a resident of Legend of McKinney. We're very pleased with it. Visually, it's beautiful. The rooms are a little bit larger than your normal assisted living rooms. It always smells clean. The food is remarkable. All of the people talk about how good the food is, so can't complain there. She gets her hair done and physical therapy there by a third party, but it's nice that they have them there, and we're happy with that. We've been very happy with the workers. Sometimes you'll see somebody and you'll think, okay, that person needs a different job because they're just mean, but everybody has treated her with respect. So we're very happy with it. The price, for all that it is, is very comparable and maybe a little less than some places because she has her own room, living room, dinette, and bathroom and we're paying $5500, so a lot of other places are higher than that for a private room.

Mom was at Legend of McKinney. Their staff was wonderful. My biggest issue there was they always seemed short staffed, but that's pretty much a general issue everywhere. I don't think that was a sole issue just with them, but staffing issue was always a problem. The staff they had were great though. The rooms were adequate. We tried to keep Mom out in the common area more often than just back in her room by herself. So every time we went to visit, she was always out in the common areas. The layout of the community was very open. They had craft projects for those that were able, they would have a little bit of physical therapy where they would do a lot of different activities as a group, like passing a ball around or a balloon or something. They also have an outside party come in that would have salon hours. The memory care unit had a little outdoor courtyard that they were able to go to when the weather was nice, and they had supervision. It was all enclosed with the gate around so they couldn't get out from there. When Mom was eating food they never had any trouble with her eating. The facilities were always very, very well well-kept, and maintained.

We visited Legend of McKinney. We were treated very well and it was memorable. The person we met was very thorough and very detailed. I had a lot of questions about assisted living facilities, and she answered all my questions. She took us around and showed us units. However, it's assisted living, so it wasn't as attractive to my mother or to myself, but the facility was nice. It was very clean. It was very new. It was located right nearby. The grounds were nice. It had a lot of room and trees around it. The assisted living room spaces aren't all that nice, but the physical appearance of the facility was very good.

I went to visit the Legend of McKinney. They were very organized. The staff was prepared to show us the different sections. Tori was our tour guide, and she took us through the entire facility. It was very organized, clean, and smelled great. They had stations set up for people to help them remember maybe what they used to be doing. They had a section that looked like a garage wall and had different types of tools that they would be familiar with. They had a workbench and they had activities that they could do there. There were four different workstations. One was childcare where they had baby dolls and you could change clothes and that type of thing. One of the most impressive things was that they had a quiet room. The room was very inviting, with warm lighting, and set like a living room. They take people there when they're agitated, very depressed, sad, or crying and a staff member would stay with them. They had a device that had been developed by artificial intelligence, and it was like a creature that had eyes. They would have the residents look it in the eyes, and it could identify whether they're very depressed, fearful, or had PTSD. And it would make certain sounds, and they said that it had proven that it calmed people down eight times faster than any kind of medication you could give, like when they were having an episode. When we were there, they had a group in the memory center that was singing different hymns. It's a gospel-centered center, and for those that would like to come and worship in the morning, they have a worship service and then they also sing. And there were probably 12 to 15 people just enjoying singing the hymns that they were familiar with from years past. The staff took us through the dining area into one of the bedrooms where they live. They have very roomy bathrooms. It's set up quite well. They have a big closet, so they don't have to fill up their room with dressers and things like that, and that makes it more peaceful to not have a bunch of clutter. She has done follow-up by phone but she's not pushy at all. And then she also came by the house and dropped off a little gift from my husband. He likes to work in the garden, and he likes to paint, so she got this cement gnome from the garden shop that could be painted and put out there. Overall, she covered everything, answered all our questions, and is open to any communication that we want, but she's not hounding us at all. The building is very nice and very spacious with a wide hallway. It has lots of seating areas. They have dining areas where you can have your family come to have meals separately. One could accommodate about eight and one could accommodate about 20 to 25 people, so you could have like a gathering of your family for birthdays that type of thing. It's looking very calm, organized, and peaceful.

The Legend of McKinney was very nice. It was multiple stories and my mom didn't want that. It was nice, clean, and open. The staff was very friendly. They had a library, a workout room, and a nice dining room. They had different craft classes and activities. It was very nice. The flavor of the food was something that they could improve on. The dining area was nice, open, and welcoming. The place was brand new. They also have a beauty shop and a movie theater.

Legend of McKinney is my first choice. My tour there was fine. The place was exceptional, and their rooms were much bigger, nicer and more like a home compared to that of the other community I visited. I was only able to talk to their salespersons, and they were very good and helpful. He was also very informative and called me a million times, though other places were also calling me a million times which was kind of painful. Their dining area was lovely. I didn't try the food but their menu looked nice.

Legend of McKinney has so far been great and we've had positive response from everybody there. My mom's room is more of a studio but she has a roommate. It was a smooth transition. I love the pricing.

Legend of McKinney's staff is very friendly and helpful. They really seem to go out of their way to make my mom feel comfortable. They welcomed my mom and she's beginning to feel like it's home, so I think that's a good thing. The staff is very caring and interested in my mom as an individual. She's making relationships with some of the people who work there that are really helpful. I don't feel like I have to be there all the time. They have lots of different activities like a morning exercise class, games, and they had a great October 5th activity with lots of food and contests. They have apartments of different sizes. My mom is in a 1-bedroom and they're literally separate rooms with doors that you can close off. It's fairly good size for the price and my mom is pretty happy with it. The staff responds when I need them to and I like that. The food is really good and they have an excellent chef.
