My brother moved into The Meadows Senior Living, and he seems to be doing fine. The place is very nice and clean. We had to furnish the beds and stuff, but that was no problem. The hallways are nice and wide, and they have a nice dining room. When you go in, there's a huge living area that's nice. The staff has been great. They are nice and helpful.

I didn't like the way the Meadows Senior Living added onto the price. It takes nearly $4,000 to $5,000 just to move in there. Every little thing you had to have extra money, and I didn't like that. The staff member during the tour was really nice. I liked her. They had a two-room deal where they had like two bathrooms and you could make two bedrooms or one sitting room, and then there was just a one-bedroom and a bath and that would be it. It didn't even have a kitchen in it. They supply you food. You'd have to go down to the cafeteria or the dining area. They had a big living room or a common place where you could watch TV and stuff. They had a library and a nice courtyard. They showed a two-bedroom facing the courtyard, but naturally it was more money just because it was facing the courtyard. It was a nice place, but it was just too pricy. They were doing some remodeling.

The Meadows Senior Living wasn't what I wanted. I wanted a low-income apartment. I need a regular apartment or a tiny house. The rent is $600 a month, which I can't afford anymore. In January, when their rent goes up, it's going to be $700 and something, and I'm going to be on the street. The tour was very nice. I enjoyed it. The people were very sweet. The rooms were small. That wasn't what I was looking for. If I was looking for something like that, that would have been perfect, especially the ones that went out onto the patio. They had a beauty shop, but it wasn't open, and they had a library. I only had the ady that did the tour, and she was very nice. I did meet some of the people there. They were playing bingo, and they were all very sweet. I love them. It was very clean.

The Meadows was the only other place we actually toured. It's an older facility, and they advertise themselves as affordable senior living. They don't have as many amenities. It's a smaller community with fewer residents. The residents were sitting. Some of them were playing dominoes and cards. They were laughing and joking. However, they don't have everything that I would like to have. For instance, they only have basic cable TV, which is not a big deal. They don't have good internet service. If you're not close enough to the Wi-Fi, you don't get internet. I did a lot of research, and that's one of the things that I look forward to having in a facility. They're skewed more toward the independent living. I wasn't truly impressed there. If I'm pushed, I'll go there, but I'll go there short-term. We had made an appointment through a third party. When we showed up there, they weren't expecting us. They went ahead, gave us a tour, and showed us the rooms. They gave us the full information. I wasn't too impressed, but I have to keep in mind that they are renovating. They're doing a lot of work inside the facility, so I didn't catch them at their peak probably. They showed us two different rooms. One was a little bigger than the other. Both of these rooms had an alcove for the sleeping area, but it was adequate space. Because I don't need a bed and usually sleep in a recliner, it would have been just sufficient for me and my sister. The living atmosphere was good. They had nice common areas. You walk in the front door. and there's a lot of space and a lot of people there. The dining room was small. It wasn't impressive. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
