Excellent team of care providers! My 91-year-old dad spent almost a month at Kingsland Hills for mobility support after a fall at home. He received great therapy while there and the team of care providers were professional and compassionate. The Administrator, in particular, went above and beyond and gave us so much support. We are grateful for the care he received. The staff and experience was positive and we appreciate that.

My mom was transferred to Kingsland Hills Memory Care Wing on Jan. 3, 2018, and she passed away March 21, 2018, from dementia complications. While she was there, she experienced incredible care, love and compassion. Every single employee with whom we interacted was so loving, kind and truly interested in my mom's welfare. The staff sees themselves as a family, and it shows. First of all, if you entered the building blindfolded, your nose would never tell you it is a nursing home. There was never an odor, even in the farthest recesses of the facility. We watched the interim administrator, the admissions clerk, the marketing manager, the human resource lady, the young lady in the business office, as well as every nurse, aide, physical therapist, dietary staff, housekeepers--in short, every single person with whom we had contact-- bend over backward to meet our every need and desire concerning my mom. I could not have asked for more or better care. The standards which the current administration and employees place on themselves are of the highest quality, and integrity reigns supreme. They work hard to bring their level of care to exacting standards, and it shows. We are grateful to this excellent facility as it is today and highly recommend it.
Kicking myself for putting my Mom in this place!

My mother was moved here on a Thursday about 5:30 p.m. for rehab and strengthening after a week in the hospital with pneumonia. She was placed in a room farthest from the desk even though I warned them she had multi-infarct dementia. I stayed with her until about 10 p.m. and then went home for the first time in a week. The next morning about 6:00 a.m. I received a call stating that my mother had fallen and injured her left leg about 5 a.m. that morning. When I got there her left foot was rotated out and she had been placed back in bed. It was obvious that she was in pain and that this was most probably a hip fracture. In addition to the leg injury, she had obviously suffered a stroke because her language was very garbled and she had not been this way when I left her the night before but the staff seemed oblivious to this even after I mentioned it. When I spoke to the nursing staff I was told that they were waiting for me to decide if it needed to be xrayed or not because the x-ray would have be to be done by a company coming from Austin. Four hours later they finally came and the xray showed breaks in five different places on that hip so I asked about transport back to the hospital that she'd come from. I ended up having to make all the arrangements between the ambulance company and the hospital in Fredericksburg myself. The room itself had hard wooden floors with NO carpet or cushioning and was very convenient for the cleaning staff but fatal to my mother. It had taken less than 12 hours from transfer to this facility to a life ending injury and they didn't seem to know what to do or take any responsibility for it's happening. I got her out of there as quickly as I could but the damage had been done. She passed away a week later.

This facility has REALLY changed in the last year!!!!!! They have all new staff faces, including administration & are constantly working on making it a better place to live. The level of care has improved 100%. So glad they finally made necessary changes. We will DEFINITELY return now!!!!

I have family there. Some of the staff is beyond amazing. But I can't find a new home fast enough. The man that runs the building is terrible. Most unprofessional "professional" person I've ever met. It worries me that the person running this place is so clueless about so much stuff. A few nurses are wonderful and wish they would find a better place to go. There are many that need to be retrained.

My mother had to be removed from this facility due to neglect and lack of communication. They start you off with a newly updated room but then find a reason to move you to another hall that has had no updating. The staff is so over worked and very few really care. They have no clue about the patients health issues. There is no communication!!! The nurses stay behind the front desk and the cna's are so over loaded they can't provide care. The administer will tell you what he thinks you are wanting to hear and nothing comes out of his promises to correct it. The director of nurses is no different. They are very unprofessional when dealing with issues. My mother was admitted to Intensive Care due to the lack of care. They would not of called for a ambulance had we not insisted and my mother would not of made it thru the night. They leave patients in bed with top and briefs and no pants. They claim to do this due to it being more comfortable for the patient but in fact it is due to neglect. They do this to to make it less for them to deal with. The food that is served is a sad excuse for a meal. There are so many that have no person to stand up for them and my heart breaks. Even with three of us going by daily our complaints were not taken care of due to no communication. Not only did they not get her to the bathroom the excuse in the end was they had the wrong size brief on so that is the reason for the wet clothing. Sad reasoning!!!

Please do not take your family to this place! They have a new director of nursing and administrator in the building. Neither of them care about what you want for your family member. They only see dollar signs and will take things away that are helpful to your family because they don't want to spend money to buy or pay for the upkeep of equipment. They have recently took safety equipment away because they were "tired of hearing the alarms go off." They suck you into believing it's such a nice place by showing and admitting you into what seems to be a very nice private room that has been updated but will then later move you at least once (if not more) to a room, with a roommate, that hasn't been updated since the building was built with a small closet that aren't even big enough for one person. The staff is overworked which creates a negative environment to live in. (Not all staff are that way.) When you take your concerns to the director of nursing and administrator they don't even try to help find a solution. They just tell you the way they want things done and there are no exceptions. (It's like they believe every person needs the exact same care and nobody will need anything more or less so they aren't going to help you with fixing any problems you have.) Please consider other facilities as this place should be a last resort.
