Arlington Heights Health and Rehabilitation Center is a terrible place. My friend has been there for almost a month now. Some of the employees are not friendly to him. The facility is old. The furniture looks like it was picked up off of the curb, like discarded furniture. It is very old. My friend's room is not very large. It is pretty cramped. My friend said the food is OK, but it is not anything great. They need to update their facility, and they need to retrain their employees.

My father was there after back surgery for 24/7 care and PT. He was only there for two days. I went to visit him after work, and stoped by the nurse station to see how his day was. The aide said she couldn’t wake him up for lunch so he didn’t eat lunch. I walked in the room and he was dead. Did no one check on him for hours? Needless to say, I never wanted to see my father dead like that. I went absolutely mental. To this day no one has contacted me by Administration. The head nurse seems tired , haggard, and needs to move on.

My loved one was told by the hospital that Rehab was needed after surgery. Being new to the area we did not know of any rehabs so the coordinator of the hospital gave us some recommendations based on the insurance coverage. Based on the reviews that is how we ended up with Arlington Heights Health and Rehabilitation Center. The website mentions many different care options available and we knew it wasn't 4-star accommodation from the beginning, just a place to heal, recover and be on our way. On day 1 of transport, our loved one was put in a room of isolation, with no communication no idea of what to expect, just drop and go. I came to visit a few hours after the transport and still, nobody came in to say hello and advise of anything, no water for the patient. I had to bring water from home. I had to go to the Social Director personally and have a chat so I could go back and let my loved one know what was going on. As you walk through the halls you see it's run down, very outdated and patients of the long-term care roaming the halls. Patients' rooms are left open, 1 was exposing themselves and screaming. I understand this place has different wings based on the level of care you need. The wing our loved one was in was the one they used for quarantine for up to 10 days, then you could come out and join the rest of the patients for meals and activities, however, the patient next door yells all day long, how can anyone recover from a major surgery having to listen to that. I try to be reassuring that is just temporary but where you lost my business is when I walked into the bathroom inside the room, there was fecal matter all over the seat, nobody had used it and it was supposed to be clean prior to the arrival of our loved one, at least they were told it was. The bedside commode was also delivered to the room filthy with fecal matter. Aside from all that our loved one was not cleaned properly, left to sit in the mess all day. Discovered a bleeding Ulcer that needed medical attention after removing them from this far from acceptable Rehab. Patients need to be moved and rotated hourly to prevent this kind of thing. We also asked for a chair to be brought into the room for our loved one to have somewhere to sit other than the bed, we were told they did not have any available. I saw a few empty rooms that did in fact have a chair not being used. By day 2 we left and speaking from experience anyone who is in rehab, needs someone to be their advocate because otherwise, they will be left in the dark. To be held up in a place like this for 15 mins or actual rehab is a joke. I will give a shoutout to Emmanuel (the kindest nurse ever) Thank you for your kindness and for actually caring for your patients.

I really appreciate the care that my dad has gotten at this nursing facility. He has a spacious room for his therapy and the staff have all been wonderful. There’s always something going on so that he doesn’t get bored when he’s not having therapy.

Although the facility isn't the most modern the staff does a good job. My sister Sarah loves Angela and Sandra. Angela is our go to person. She goes above & beyond to make Sarah happy. We go visit Sarah frequently & she is always happy. All of staff knows her and are courteous and respectful.

I had a great experience at this rehab facility when I was recently there after a stroke. The therapy team got me back up on me feet and feeling back to my normal self after staying with them for a month. It was nice to have a private room so my friends and family could come and visit me. The nurses are all sweet and very good at their jobs and the aides became family to me. If I ever have to go back to rehab, I’d definitely return to arlington Heights

My mother was recently in this facility for wound care and therapy after she had a bad fall and broke some bones. In the few short months that she was there, she came out walking better than before her fall and her wounds were completely healed. The administrator Vickie was absolutely wonderful and their staff was always helpful and were on top of any problems that came up. I am very impressed!

Awful. Management is uneducated. They do not know how to talk to families. Caregivers are very unprofessional. Very out dated Nursing facility. I think the state really needs to take a close look at them. I told them not to do my dad's laundry but they kept doing it anyway. His brand new clothes was bleached. Found my dad soaked and wet on several occasions. Told Nursing staff and they showed no concern.

I have horrible reviews for Arlington Heights. It's been awful. My mother-in-law's bottom dentures have been lost. Her glasses were broken on on side, so we fixed them. Then, they told me they broke again and would be fixed, but she's still had to wear them without one side until they disappeared about five days later. Her walker disappeared for a couple of days, and we just had problems with medication issues. She has to have drops in her eyes for glaucoma, and she went three weeks without those drops. We went to a neurologist who decided she needed to be taken off or have a decreased dosage of the psychotropic meds she was on; for about four weeks, they took her to be seen by the psychiatrist there, and then they didn't decrease any medication. It has just been frustrating being the in-between person going to the neurologist and the neurologist freaking out about all those medications because she has dementia, and he thinks all of the prescription medications are contributing to the dementia. She needs an EEG, and he won't do the EEG until some of the medications are decreased, but we can't get the nursing home to decrease the medication. It's a constant battle. They're extremely slow to respond. I've pushed the nursing button before and waited 15 minutes with no response and had to walk out there. They're just sitting at the nurses' station, and no one's responding to you pushing the button. There's an extreme lack of communication between everyone. When you walk inside, the smell is kind of overwhelming to me. It's like they're trying to cover it up with a lot of perfume, and it almost takes your breath away. The food is awful; she's a diabetic, but they don't go by what she should eat as a diabetic.
