My father has been a client there for at least 6 years. I wasn't happy he was having to live in a facility other than at home but under circumstances it was best place for him. They have a lot of activities there along with singing and games. Since he has been there I feel he has gotten great care, he always is clean and smells great.the caregivers always look upbeat and always polite and helpful. Never had any bad feelings that things weren't good. Had concerns in past not enough caregivers but now seems to be more working. all the employees have been great. The food seems like almost home cooked. At the present this virus going on and I pray for all the employees and residents. May God be with you all.

This facility is not a place that I would recommend. They need to frequently monitor their staff and hire qualified and compassionate individuals, especially for the amount of money that they charged to have my grandfather placed there. I say "PLACE THERE" boldly because that's exactly what happened to my grandfather. He was not cared for properly and they did not make his room comfortable and or homey in any way. The TV was never turned on nor was the pictures of his family hung up much less open his personal box that was provided by us. I witnessed staff being rude and ugly through the window (of course due to COVID) so all I could do was file a complaint. He was told that " he belonged to the state and that he was never going home". I also set up a face-time chat and was never called. It took me calling 4/5 times until I was able to get ahold of anyone. When I saw my grandfather he looked extremely bad he had dried throw up on him and it was obvious that they had not been changed, checked on or cared for. Please think twice about putting your family member into this facility especially during this pandemic. We are not able to make sure they are being properly cared for, hear them, talk to them, or touch them. I am his voice and I hope that this can help someone else.

My father is now in Frank M Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home. So far, it has been excellent. His room is clean. They have all kinds of activities throughout the month; they have something every day. They provide them meals plus snacks. The staff members are polite and professional. They have a huge wing where they do recreational activities and they have an area where they can watch TV. They also have an area where they could get snacks. The place is very well kept and clean. The staff is professional. They are cleaning the floors every night. You don't smell dirty diapers or dirty people there. It is very clean.

My husband is in Frank M. Tejada nursing home, and so far, it’s pretty good. He appears to be comfortable. There’s therapy, a chapel, entertainment, a television room, and a dining room. It’s nice and clean and doesn't have a urine smell. I had lunch twice, and the food was good. The grounds were beautiful.

I liked Frank very much because it had more of the level of care that my father needed, was closer to me, and provided more medical type attention, which was more suited for my father’s individual needs. It had a lot of trained personnel that could respond with a higher level of care for older patients.

My aunt is in Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home. She doing really good there, and she is happy. They have activities and outings. They also take her to her appointments. The rooms are nice. She is in a semi-private room. The private rooms are small.

I choose Frank Tejeda for my father because there are more men than women. Also, it is a very clean and open facility. It just seems to be the right fit for him. I find it very pleasant. I find the cleanliness and attentiveness of the aides to be extremely high because it is very clean and the staff is very attentive. When I go see my father, he is always immaculate. I am very impressed. I feel that they are 100% on top of everything. However, I think they need more help or just maybe more staff, but other than that, I am completely satisfied.

I don't think I have enough space to document how bad this place is. They don't like for anyone to complain too much. You will get into trouble with the administrator if you do. Your loved one will not be cared for adequately. They never have enough nurses aids and the nurses I have seen are not all good. They do have some good ones but they are few and far between. If you like Mexican food, you will like the food they serve. If you need a lot of help you should look at another facility. They are too big and never have enough people working there. I have seen people fall and no one to help. If you do put your loved one in there, you will need to go every night to make sure they are clean and not sitting in their own waste and are in bed. Our Veterans deserve more than this. Such a shame.

Staff to resident ratio is very low. Usually only 2 CNAs per hall at night before 9 PM. Difficulty finding staff when a problem arises. Climate is not controled in resident rooms so rooms are very cold, too cold for the elderly. Front office never knows who is working or when. Difficult to get phone calls returned from some of the RNs and management. Some CNAs are not nice and are mean to residents. There are some very good people there but it is a management problem with addresing issues with staff.
