I have a friend who has been at VillaCCS for 3 years. There, of course, have been changes over this time. The food has significantly improved this past year. Aides they hire are very attentive and compassionate to the residents. The manager, nurse and other staff members are very personable and excellent in their jobs.. If a problem arises I just report it and it is addressed as soon as possible. The price is of course one reason we stay. It is resonable compared to other facilities. I am glad I found this place for Pam. Karenl

The tour at Villa South Assisted Living & Memory Care was very thorough. They were very hospitable and professional. The staff was empathetic and eager to assist. I was shown some rooms, and they were very nice. I don't recall seeing the dining hall. The atmosphere was friendly and open.

We toured Villa South Assisted Living & Memory Care, and we were very impressed. The staff was absolutely incredible. They seemed to be very caring. The patients seem to be very fond of their caretakers. One lady stopped us and said that this man is such a gentleman, and she was one of those old-charm ladies, and she was just so impressed with what a gentleman he was. And she couldn't have been nicer about him, which means a lot to me, because I want to hear what the residents have to say. And they just seemed willing to answer any and all questions. I like the fact that they do a complete background check on anyone who works there, or will have any contact with the patients. It's not the Taj Mahal, not a lot of crystal chandeliers and all of that. But when I'm looking for someplace to care for my ex-husband, I'm not looking for luxury. I'm looking for comfort. I'm looking for people that actually care about him, and won't abuse him, and will actually take care of him and care about his well-being. And that's what I found there. The accommodations are older, but they're clean, they're well-maintained. The room that they were all sitting in, watching TV, appeared to be a little dark at first, but then I realized it was because they have vision problems, and it was easier for them to see the TV with the room being darker. So once I understood why the room was dark, because I prefer a sunroom, I thought, OK, they're accommodating their guests. So I was very impressed with it. I saw two rooms. The smaller one is only smaller by maybe 75 square feet, so it's not really that much. But it's enough for a chair and a bed. The larger one was enough for a chair, a bed, and a tiny table kind of thing. So, the accommodations were adequate. You didn't want it to be too big, because they don't need that much.

I toured Villa South Assisted Living & Memory Care. The only thing that I didn't care about was the price. It was nice and clean. It smelled clean. Everybody was friendly. The residents there came up and talked to us. The rooms were a little small. When I was there, they were just getting ready to do chair yoga. There were a couple of people sitting in the library. A lot of people were out walking, and they had beautiful grounds. We didn't deal with any of the staff other than the manager, and he was very knowledgeable and very helpful. I liked everything that I saw.

We've chosen Villa South Assisted Living & Memory Care for my father-in-law because of the cleanliness and overall appearance of the place. It is very nice. It has a large internal courtyard for the residents with a screened-in porch. There's also a large central gathering area near the front desk where they have exercise classes and bingo. The staff is very friendly, and they seem quite competent and very caring. I've tried the food that they serve there and it is very good.

I toured Villa South Assisted Living & Memory Care and I was very pleased with what I saw. The residents seemed to be happy and there were activities going on that the members were participating in. I liked the security of the memory care portion. Like how they tried to create a personal space and decorate it nicely. It was very visually appealing and yet not over the top where it was too much for someone who is struggling with Alzheimer's/dementia. It was also really clean. Everyone was extremely friendly and I felt very comfortable if I chose to have my husband there. The employees were very knowledgeable. They were good listeners and able to answer all my questions. They encouraged further contact with additional questions that I may have. They were very understanding and interacted very well with all the other people that we came across. The rooms were nice. It was just what the memory care residents needed. It was simple, safe, and was the right amount of space to make a home for my dad to be comfortable in. It's very maneuverable. The dining area was very nice and very welcoming, too. They had some options of where they ate; it could be together, it could be per individual, or even eating in the room. There were a lot of options and it would fit my dad and his personality. I liked that they had activities that involve physicality/movement. In the memory care part, there was a game area where there were puzzles, games, and other activities. There were certain places where you could sit and look outside. There was a location that occupational therapists or any additional support people could meet with the residents if they weren't doing it in the room.

I loved the surroundings of Villa South Assisted Living & Memory Care. It was very warm and comforting. The residents were well attended to. The staff was very understanding, very knowledgeable, and compassionate with what my family has gone through. They had an activity room and a common area where they have their gatherings.

Villa South Assisted Living & Memory Care was very beautiful. The people are really nice, really attentive, and answered every question we had. I felt comfortable there. My mom would have felt comfortable there, too. It was a very good facility. They showed me the room and where my mom could cook. I walked around the facilities and saw the different sizes of the rooms. Their activities change every week. They'll do a lot of puzzles, exercises, and they have a lot of group activities. They also have a menu for their meals per week w where they let the residents pick in advance. The manager was also really nice. She was attentive. You could tell they care about the residents. They did a good job of keeping the place clean and keeping the place homey. The part I liked the least was just the price.

I didn't get to go into the memory care unit of Villa South Assisted Living & Memory Care during my visit because they said somebody had COVID, so I couldn't go in there even though I was vaccinated. I did go into where they have the activities for them, the living room, the kitchen area, and the dining area. I also saw one empty room I'd get if I were to put my mother in there. It was just too expensive but the room was nice and spacious. I think it was the assisted living part that I toured. I was very impressed. I always thought that when you go into a facility like that, you smell a lot of urine and stuff. I did not smell any of that. They were also getting ready for the Thanksgiving holidays and they had music on and were going to have a party for one of the patients with a cake. I went into one of the rooms and it was nice and spacious. It was going to be for 2 patients and they had a big walk-in bathroom with a shower. They had a little microwave and a small refrigerator too. It was as big as the room where I have my mother now. It's nice on the outside and well-groomed as it did on the inside. The lady I spoke to was very nice. I even told her that if I couldn't get my mother there, maybe I could put her in there for respite for a week or so. She was very helpful and the rest of the staff was very nice and sweet with the patients. The facility was very well-groomed inside and out. As soon as I walked in there, I was there a little bit early, some lady saw me and asked if I needed help. I told her I have an appointment with somebody and right away they helped me in. I didn't stay there long, waiting in the hallway or anything. They walked me in and while I was waiting for the lady, I interacted with all the other people that were there.

My brother was placed in assisted living in Villa South Assisted Living & Memory Care, but after like three days he decided to walk home, and he did get out, so at that point, they've moved him to memory care. He's been in memory care for about a week now. So far, I'm happy with the communication between the community, after all, I'm in California, and they're in Texas. They've communicated with me on several different occasions regarding his progress, their plans for him, and what they're doing with him regarding his independence in the memory care unit. Because he has a very poor short-term memory, but his long-term memory and his ability to care for himself is good, he is sort of betwixt and between, and so they're trying to give him as much independence as possible, and they've been good at that. They've already allowed him and escorted him to the activities in the assisted care living group because he fits in better with that. I like the way they're trying to make him fit in up to his abilities, and they're very attentive to that. What they've told me about is that, in memory care, activities are mostly verbal, and he doesnt need that, and so they're allowing him more active activities in assisted living. We were in Texas when we placed him, so I've been there on three occasions. The first thing I noticed was that all the staff seemed to know the people and spoke with them and interacted with them whenever they walked or anything. They knew the folks, they talked with them, and they interacted with them, and in a lot of places, people just stood by and supervised from afar. So, I like the fact that they interacted with the folks and genuinely seemed to care about their progress and their comfort. They have all been great. The facility is older and so that reflects itself in some ways, but the rooms, especially the assisted living rooms, were nice. They're bright with a lot of space for the price. They have even ones that are like studio apartments, and I thought that was nice. The ones in the memory care are really very basic like a rectangle with the bathroom. It's good value compared to others.

When I toured Villa South Assisted Living & Memory Care, they showed me an occupied room, so there were people living in them, so it was hard to see my brother's furniture and see him living in it. Both rooms were occupied, so that kind of told me that they didn't have any empty rooms too because if they had, they would have shown them to me, but they didn't. I liked the last one they showed me though, and I think my brother's stuff would have fit in, but it was a little awkward. The dining room was all right, but I felt like it was not kept up. Their appearance didn't look as nice as the other facility we checked out, but his girlfriend liked it. They had a TV room and a place where they could play cards and dominoes, but there was nothing going on at the time I was there.

My mother-in-law will be moving into Villa South. The price is good, and with her dementia, they have memory care there, so we thought if she has to go into that, she can just change wings, instead of having to move her again. The director was very good. We didn't really tour because of COVID, but she showed us the room online. As far as physically walking down there, we didn't. We visited the place in person, but not her room. The virtual tour was very thorough, and we got to see the whole thing. They had all kinds of things. They have bingo, and they do Zoom dancing. I really like the layout because it's single halls, so I think it's easier to get to the main area, the cafeteria, and the den. They're right next to each other, and it's just very open and very clean. I like the fact that there is a very large courtyard in the middle that's surrounded by buildings, so the residents can't wander off. They can go outside any time they want. At the end of each corridor, there's a sitting area if they want to sit down there and watch TV or whatever. I like it. The dining area just had little tables, but right now they have to have single feeding, so the tables and everything were spread everywhere, even in the atrium. We inquired about both assisted living and memory care, and after she was evaluated, they decided she just needed assisted living with a higher level of care. She doesn't need the memory care yet.

I had a great feel when I toured Villa South with my mother. We’re in the early stage of research. When the time is right we are leaning towards this community. The Executive Director Marti, plus Delma and Nurse Karla were warm and friendly and it seems like it would be a good fit for mom.

My mother-in-law was a resident at Villa South in their Stepping Stone Memory Care Unit until her recent passing. From the day we moved her in, we knew she was going to be in a place where she would be well taken care of. The facility was clean and the staff was exceptional, from the Executive Director down to the wonderful staff who made sure her daily needs were met and who showed her love and compassion. We would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place to provide care for their loved ones.

My mother had dementia and resided at Villa South for 1.5 years. Once someone has advanced dementia, it is difficult for them to make a move to another residence. Some of the staff were very caring and helpful, many were not. Staff turnover was high. My family provided my mother with outside part-time caregivers for several hours each day. I felt very sorry for those residents with dementia who did not have outside caregivers. A staff member actually asked one of our caregivers if she was going to tell the daughters everything that went on in my mother's room. The assisted living side of the facility had few activities for the residents. The staff does not check on the residents every two hours with or without caregivers as promised. Several times items seemed to go missing from my mothers room. When I visited, I made sure not to leave my purse in the room even with the door locked. In the med-room, if a staff member accidently drops a pill on the floor, they will pick it up and give it to the resident. I witnessed this first hand and would not allow my mother to be given pills that fell on the floor. I could go on. Once my mother passed away, a hospice nurse notified the family. Management at Villa South did not feel a need to contact the family to notify us of my mother's passing or even offer condolences.

The minute we walked in we knew this was not the place for my mom. We stood at the counter for more than five minutes, and they saw us walk in, and we were never helped. We were there for the memory care and we walked freely through the facility. Once we were given a "tour" ( lasted about 7 minutes), we were disgusted. The smell of urine was overwhelming. The paint on the walls was scuffed and faded, wallpaper tearing off the walls, smoking in the outdoor area, packed "activity room" , "dining room" "living room"(all the same area). We left and both had a headache and felt sick to our stomachs. I could never leave my mother or any of my dogs there. Very sad. In my son's words, "It seems like people are just here waiting to die." Almost had me in tears thinking about the current resident and what the must endure on a daily basis.

My grandma lived there for about a year. The quality of care was substandard. Everytime problems and concerns were brought up to the Director, she would not address them. There was never any accountability. Several of the staff are unprofessional and lack compassion for the residents. The memory care unit smells horrible. I would not recommend this as an acceptable place for my loved one to live.

We went to Villa of Corpus Christi South, and the place was terrible. The place smelled like urine. To me, it looked like more of an institution or a state hospital. I looked at the rooms, and the size was OK. Some of them have a little refrigerator. They were OK, but it seemed like their maintenance lacked. I would not recommend this place.
