I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband is currently at AdventHealth Care Center Burleson. It took a couple of weeks for them to get to know each other as far as the nurse knowing his needs are, it all worked out, and now he is doing incredible. A week ago, I took a picture of him that looked like he wasn't going to last very long, and two days ago I took another picture of him, and he looked like he did years before he was ever sick. Lately, I've seen him dressed in his wheelchair in the community room, and it's just amazing the difference in him from what he was earlier. I have to say that they really caught onto his likes and dislikes fast, and he's looking very, very good.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is in the AdventHealth Care Center Burleson for rehab. She's been well-cared for and the staff is friendly. There are a lot of amenities there that are accessible to her side of the facility. It still needs a lot of work though. They had a beauty salon, a hair salon, they do her nails, every week she goes to play bingo, and they have a lot of activities for the residents there. It's value for the money because she's cared for and I feel comfortable with her being there. I don't feel like she's neglected and mistreated, so that's good value for what we're paying for. But certain things could be done better, I look at the carpet even in the hallway area, there are a lot of stains. And I thought that if there are huge stains in the carpet area, then it was being neglected and it feels like the place isn't clean. In the residents' rooms, it's hard floor tiles, and sometimes it may smell like urine or feces. My mom doesn't like the food there too much, because she's very particular with what she eats. The meals that they give her there, sound like a nutritious diet. She shares a room with another resident, it's a 2-person room.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was there for a month rehabbing a hemotoma I received at a facility in Cleburne. The nurses and aides were great. It took them to respond a little while sometimes but they were busy with other patients or serving meals. The therapists were excellent. They tried their best to get patients involved in their therapy, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Everyone there had compassion for the patients.

My dad stayed at Huguley Nursing & Rehab Center. It’s an old building, but I was happy with all of it. I was happy with all of the staff. The food and dining room were fine. I had no complaints about it and Daddy didn’t either. He had a lot of physical therapy. The room was old but clean, and my dad had a roommate whom he loved. The place is just older and different, but I was very much satisfied with it.

The nurses are GREAT! Always showing compassion and care! They are higher level with their knowledge! They were always in top of things before there were any ussues! Their upper management was involved with all patient care and very involved! They are THE BEST!!

Dad is a high fall risk. They put him in a room by himself. He is disoriented sometimes. Talking to people who have passed years ago. Sometimes his mind is fine. They fail to use safety belt. The first morning there was no walker or wheelchair. I pushed the buzzer, no body came. Pushed again, nobody came. Went to get something to get him to the bathroom. Was informed that I just had to understand that they were serving breakfast. They do not have the staff to help the patient and feed them too He has been here two days and they are very careless when they stand them up. Dad is almost 88. Has kidney and heart failure. This infection in his kidney is common in hospitals

Terrible. Dad was in urine when I got here. He is so uncomfortable. This place should be shut down. This is how we do our vets! Terrible! He gave 22 years of his life and this is what we get.

A HOUSE OF HORRORS>>>>My Mother was in this facility for roughly three weeks, I stayed with my Mom for seven days straight until I could have her transferred to another facility. Being there an average of 12 hours a day, I noted so many deficiencies, short staff, Aids outside smoking ninety percent of the time, the odors of urine so pungent it's difficult to breath, Upper management is BEYOND difficult, uncaring and a complete disregard for compliance or the elderly. I noticed several patience asking for HELP, laying on the floor and Staff just passed them by. Never have I seen the lack of compassion and neglect. My Mom was dropped three times, per upper management, but one was a assisted fall????? The physical therapist are wonderful and nursing staff professional, but these factors can not mitigate the internal dangers and lack of care. If you love your family member or friend, DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY.

I visited this facility

My sister and I visited Huguley, and it was wonderful. The rooms were small, but very nice. I would highly rate their staff.

My mom is at Huguley Nursing Home. She has been there since November. We have been pleased with this facility. The rooms are a little small, but they are alright. The food looks pretty good. My mom eats it, so I guess it is OK. We like the nurses and the aides a lot. They're really friendly. Everybody seems really helpful. However, Mother didn't think that they respond fast enough. They have a lot of activities, but my mom is not really participating yet. They have movie day, bingo, different games, and Wii games. They have most celebrations -- e.g., Christmas celebration. They have three large living room areas, and you can reserve one. It is nice and big. They have tables and chairs, and it is really nice. Their grounds and surroundings are really nice. They have an inside garden area. It looks like they take good care of the outside. Also the facility is right by Huguley Hospital which is another good thing if my mom needed to go to a hospital.

I am a friend or relative of resident

After much research and visiting of other homes, we chose Huguley for my mother. She has several serious ailments so a good nursing staff that cares about and understands old folks was important to us. We have been very happy with the nurses (all are SO friendly!) and they way they kid around with my mother, but still take her health seriously. Any time you move from a limited-care retirement center into a full-care facility like this, there will be an adjustment to go through and the staff understands this and helps get your loved on involved in their new home. They have multiple denominations of church services, special interest activities (like knitting, or free-fingernail-painting-Wednesdays, etc.) and even introduced my mother to some other residents with similar likes and hobbies. Any time we have had a problem of any kind, the staff or Admin is always quick to act on our concerns and I truly believe they care about, not just for my mother.

I only give this one star because there is nothing less. The nursing care is horrible. Their focus is on over-medicating the patients to induce comatose states so they don't have to spend time feeding and caring for them. I am in the process of filing a formal claim for nursing home neglect with the state of Texas. I can't begin to describe the lack of care resulting on bedsores, dramatically declining health, the theft of residents' belongings, etc.....

The nursing staff was very pleasant. As far as I could see most were kind and caring to all patients. Many even had a good sense of humor, and were friendly to all visitors. They handled loud patients and trouble-makers with class and kindness. While nice, we often had issues with them always smoking right outside the entrance. If that is not a problem for you then it shouldn't be a big deal, but we didn't really like having to walk through smoke clouds to get in the building. The facility had good and bad points. The good parts were the outdoor spaces. When I visited my great-grandmother, we went to the courtyards. They were always my favorite part, with flowers, bird feeders, and lots of plants. The bad was the tight indoor spaces. While adequate, I would have liked more openness, rather than tight corners and small gathering places. The biggest room was the dining hall, and even it seemed tight considering the wheelchairs.
