I live in The Huntington at Buda. It's very good. It's clean and it's well taken care of. I just can't say enough good things about the management because they seem to really care. They take good care of you and everybody's treated fairly. They have a clubhouse, a barbecue area, a pool, and a covered table area by the pool. They have a fitness room and a PT shop, a library, a media room, a computer; they have all kinds of stuff. There's always something going on two or three times a week. They have potluck on holidays, like at Thanksgiving they have a big Thanksgiving meal. They have bingo and exercises. They have people that come and talk. They have things like Meals on Wheels that come in.

My mom has been at The Huntington at Buda for five years now. What I like least is the limited access. Their security gates and such are better maintained and more actively kept closed than any facility I've ever lived in in my life. Access to her apartment can only be accomplished with a gate code or a radio frequency card. So it's a very secure facility, which is both good and bad. It makes accessing her a little more difficult. It makes it difficult to have anybody go in and check on her welfare if it's not a workday during business hours. Her apartment is pretty nice. But for a two-bedroom-two-bath-apartment, I would consider it a little bit on a small size. There are no meals included there. They have activities, but my mother is so hard of hearing that she doesn't participate in them. With regards to common areas, other than the pool and the courtyard around the pool, they have a clubhouse that has an entertainment room and a home theater. It almost looks like a dining facility. They have so many tables and chairs in it, but it's not a dining facility, it's just an activity area. They have a published calendar of activities. Their value is very good. Of course, they're a HUD property also.
