I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad is now at Brookdale Northwest Hills. I like the location and I like the meal plan. I don't have problems with the staff at all. They have music, gatherings and movies and stuff like that. The activities are there. My dad's apartment is a small efficiency, but it's big enough. It doesn't have a kitchen, but it has a small fridge in the room.

My friend will be moving into Brookdale Northwest Hills. The facility was well cared for, nicely done, and well maintained. The rooms were also well-maintained and had a good layout. The staff was very gracious, helpful, and forthcoming about most matters. We had lunch there, and it was very good. The staff was very attentive. We observed the preparation for activities and spaces for activities. They have arts and crafts, bingo, and fitness classes every day.

Brookdale Northwest Hills was very high up on our list of where we were going to place our loved ones. The lady that showed us around was superb and very, very accommodating. She was informative, personable, and friendly. The head of the whole place also came in and talked to us. They gave us special attention. What we liked a lot about them is that they had all kinds of in-house services included. They have home health and hospice (it's not part of the memory care but it's right there with them). It was easy to access all the services we would need. The place was clean and they had beautiful facilities. It wasn't as new and quite as nice as the other facility we looked at, but we liked the room. It was laid out better. They had a courtyard, too.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was at Brookdale Northwest Hills; my experience was not too good regarding their assisting staff. It was during COVID, so we were all quarantined in our rooms, they followed the rules, and they were very protective of us. It's well kept up and they have somebody constantly cleaning and painting all the time. They have a beauty shop with 2 people working there. They have activities for the residents. They play bingo about 3 times a week, they have some other games you can take part in. The food was very good. It is also expensive. They need to improve on their caregivers; sometimes I would wait an hour for them to come. I don't know what they've done since I was gone but they should have more qualified caregivers. Some of them were super and some were not.

Brookdale Northwest Hills was a really nice facility. We were very impressed with just everything, including the cleanliness and the services offered. We were looking at the assisted living area, and we only had good things to say about them.

Brookdale Northwest Hills was very clean. The woman I was speaking to was very informative. If we had a question that she didn't know, she would let us know, and she would follow up, and she did follow through. It's an older facility but they were updating it. Actually, they were starting to do that, but it wasn't a mess or anything like that. It was actually clean. The residents were sweet, and the person that I was with knew their names. They are also very well-equipped with activities that the residents can do.

Brookdale Northwest Hills was really nice, but way out of our price range. They've got limited parking, and it's nestled in the hill country. Even though it's on top of a hill, a lot of the views were just scrubby trees. It's a beautiful area, but there wasn't a very nice view. I liked their activities specifically designed for the higher-functioning memory care residents. The food looked beautiful and smelled delicious. The amenities were amazing, but everything came with extra price tags. There wasn't a lot that was already included.

Brookdale Nothwest Hills had a very nice foyer, and the people were at their best. They were very friendly. They explained exactly what the different floors have to offer. If you're a bridge player, you'll get very satisfied there. They have bridge and bingo, but I'm not into all those things. Otherwise, they don't offer any more than that. They did have somebody that is in charge of the planning, and once in a while, they have movie nights and stuff like that. The facility is not really fully independent; at the same time, it is not fully assisted living. It is in between. So if you need a little assistance, they might give it to you, and if you need more, then they will transfer you over to the other facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I put my mom in Brookdale Northwest Hills. She has been there for three weeks, and it has been good. She says she likes the food. I haven't tasted it myself, but I'm sure it is good. The dining area is nice; it is kind of like going into a really nice restaurant. They take them out to go to grocery stores, and they have bingo, movies, and activities outside. They do a lot of different things. They have music, church, and lots of other stuff that goes on. The people there are nice and very helpful. I call all the time to check on mom, and they are never irritated or anything. They are just vey helpful. This was the best out of the many facilities that I have looked at.

My friend had her mother stay at this facility. The salesperson, Jennifer, wined and dined her mother and basically sold her on a very bad situation. Once there she quickly deteriorated and developed a UTI which left her in a diaper with chronic UTI's, hallucinations, in pain and unable to function normally. She fell out of her bed four times and is lucky she didn't break a hip. They then sent her to a rehab facility (without my friends knowledge) but did not care to follow up on her or her well being. They actually didn't know where she was at one point. The staff there are unresponsive and not helpful at all. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. They just don't care and are more interested in getting their patients money!

Summit was very nice, but it was up north. It was too far for us. They're huge, and I think that's what scared my mom a little bit because there were a lot of people, it was a big building, and they had an upstairs. I think it just made her feel like she would get lost there. The staff was wonderful. They showed us around, and we were impressed with their service. It was just something that was not for us.

Summit at Northwest Hills Austin was in a great location. Aside from that, they have a locked memory care area as well as what I called "attended area" which was sort of unusual. Most places didn't have that. They did have options for living in an area that really didn't have a locked door but there was an attended entrance. So if somebody would be wandering that could be dealt with. Safety wise, it was not a concern at all. They have really nice rooms. Their residents seemed to be fine. They were all so very interactive with the staff. When we walked by, people were saying, "hi" – both residents and staff. When we were down in the lobby, there was a lady that was attending the entrance and she knew practically everybody by name. If it would have been time for us to go to a place, this one would be a really good option.

I visited Summit at Northwest Hills because I was looking for a place for my parents. The quality of the facility and staff was good. However, they had limited bedrooms with two beds and I could not separate my parents.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I have a friend who resides at this nursing home. She is my elderly friend and I visit her twice a month to keep her company. During my visit, I noticed some good things about this nursing home. The residents live in fully-furnished "apartments." The one my friend lives in is very well-furnished and clean. The residents are usually really nice and courteous. I hear that they get together for organized recreation activities. So the residents get to make friends easily and make their lives less lonelier. It's seems like a nice place to live, since the staff there help the elderly with housekeeping, exercising, cooking (restaurant-quality foods prepared by chefs), etc. I haven't met any of the staffs directly, but from my friend's well-kept room, I believe they do a pretty good job for the residents. The staff even help the residents with daily activities such as bathing, taking medication, and even dressing.

Friend or relative of resident

I had a family friend who lived there for three plus years. He seemed to be very happy in the facility since he was a reclusive type person. Staff seemed to take their time when answering residents calls about medicine and other assistance. The facility overall is beautiful! The outside is well manicured with beautiful sitting areas and well decorated inside as well. The restrooms are VERY clean and apartments are roomy with beautiful corwn molding and views from the windows.
