My mom is living in The Craig Senior Living. Their staff has been very helpful. My mom was in independent living at The Craig and she needed to move. My dad passed away unexpectedly. We had to move her to assisted living, and then with her dementia, we thought she might need to go to a memory care. But they're being very accommodating for her and to her, so we decided it would be best for her mental stability to leave her there. It's a real, pretty campus with lots of room for outdoor walking and enjoyment. Everybody I talked to, including my dad before he passed, they just brag and brag on the food. There are quite a few recreational games, movies. They have their own hair salon. Their price is the same as the other places, if not better.

I toured The Craig Senior Living. I visited the independent living. It's a gated community and it's beautifully kept. It's a beautiful place. They have cottages as well as apartments, and it's all very well kept. The staff was excellent. They were very, very nice. I did not try their food. I've seen the residents play cards. They have a beautiful library if you like to read, and I do love to read. They go on a tour sometimes and the staff said once a week they go out to eat at a restaurant. If you want to go, you can sign up to go. They have all kinds of puzzles. The apartment I'm taking, somebody had lived there, and they had to move for some reason. So they are going to repaint it for me, and they're going to redo the floor and put in a new shower. Everything will be really clean, and I like that. The facility is beautiful and very, very well kept.

We looked at The Craig Senior Living. One thing they do is if you don't want to go to their cafeteria to eat, you can have the food brought to you. They have a cafeteria and several different areas of their different buildings because there's more than one, and you can go in any of them if you want to, so you can have a variety of menus depending on which one you go to. They have a grocery store, a pharmacy, and a doctor's office. On their premises, they have a doctor's office. They have eight buildings, and they are all connected by covered walkways. The facility was very nice. It felt homey.

I was not impressed with Craig Retirement. I did not get a very good, warm fuzzy from this community. Not that it was bad, it just seemed like they put everybody in a big room, and I didn't see a lot of interactivities with the residents between the staff. I only saw one other staff member in the room, and I didn't get the homey feeling that I got with the other places. It was clean, but it was a little dated. They have a very small outside area, so they need to have a little bit larger area for the residents to go out. They didn't have a big outside facility. This is the memory care side, and I didn't see anything else, but I would like a little bit better outdoor facility for them to be able to go outside and interact out there. Some of the windows need to be replaced, and some of them had kind of like a fog look to them, so they need to update and clean up the windows in the great room. We saw a big room, and then we saw one shared room. The bedroom part looked OK, but it almost looked like an institution in the big room. It just didn't seem to have a whole lot to spark any interest from the residents. It's just like a big giant cafeteria/gymnasium look to it, and it wasn't inviting it all.

We had some friends who lived at Craig Retirement. You can have your own home, and they have independent living, assisted living, and all the way to the nursing home, which is great. We looked at two-bedroom apartments, and they were very nice. They have a cafeteria there, and everyone would go down to the cafeteria to eat. Their facility was very nice. The staff was excellent. The day we went it was lunch time, they took us to lunch, and the food was very good. They're very nice people. It was more expensive, and it offered some things.

We like the Craig Retirement. They had cottages and little homes, and that's what we liked about it. It had plenty of space, 2-bedrooms, 2-baths, and it was over 1400 sq.ft. It was situated in a pond right across from it. The view was lovely, and it's very close to the main building with the dining room and all the other extra facilities. The grounds were absolutely beautiful there. It had enclosed veranda, they've just redone it, it's all repainted, new carpet, and they're putting new appliances, so I guess those were the things we liked best. They had independent living cottages, independent apartments in their main building, assisted living, nursing home, and a memory care home all on the same property. Everybody we saw including some of the residents were friendly and happy, and everything was very good. They had a beauty salon, a barber shop, and a beautiful library with a fireplace in it. It was snowing yesterday when I was there, and the fireplace was going, and it was absolutely gorgeous. It's perfect. They had a fitness center, but they did not have a swimming pool. They had lakes, two different ponds on the property, and there's a bank in the main building. Their dining room is closed right now, so they're having to deliver the food to all their buildings and their units.

We've got our mother in Craig Retirement and we're happy with it and didn't have any problems. She has a 2-bedroom which is a pretty big room with a living room, big walk-in closet, bathroom and a little kitchen area. They have pretty much every amenity. Overall, it seems like a really nice place and everybody has been really friendly and helpful and my mom is doing well there. The staff has been doing well and we've had no problems and the nurse on duty has been really helpful. The facilities have been very nice, too.

The Craig was more modern. We ate that day, and the food was really good. We have relatives who live in that facility, so we knew a lot more about it. The cottages and the rooms inside were very nice. We would be interested in it, but it’s a little pricey for us. All the people were very friendly, and the lady who toured us was really good, and we really enjoyed it. It’s really easy to get to and easy to get around inside. Most of the people who live away from the actual main building in the cottages and the surrounding areas all have golf carts that they take to the activity area. It's a very nice, gated community.

I just moved my mother into this Seniors Community. The facilities are phenomenal, the staff personnel are friendly and responsive. The food is very good with lots of options at every meal. There are plenty of organized activities from church services to Royal wedding Hat contests to shopping trips to local grocery stores to visits to local points of interest. We met several other residents who could only say positive things about the place. My mother was extremely lonely in her home after my father dies and in the last three weeks since she made the decision to move in, she has been excited about life. As we were moving her into her apartment, she kept saying that if she likes it half as much as everyone says she will then she will like it. That meant the world to me.

We visited The Craig Retirement Community for my parents, and I was already familiar with it. Everything was good, all our questions were answered, and it was a good visit. The dining area looked fine, it was very welcoming, and everything looked good there.

We visited The Craig because all of our doctors were there. It's exactly what we had hoped for because it has independent cottages/duplexes that are really nice, plus a central building where we will eat in the dining room and have all kinds of things going on. It's just really nice. They have everything that we think we need. We don't need to drive far if we need to go to doctors or stores.

Craig Retirement Community was the nicest one after looking at the other places available in Amarillo, and it met the requirements that my mother had. It's a very nice, nonsmoking facility, and her apartment had the ample space that she wanted with a full kitchen and all the things that she wanted in a home that were very important to her. They seem to be very friendly and very clean. We had lunch in the dining room, and the food was pretty good and had a lot of choices. They have a nice dining room and a lot of people in there that are enjoying themselves. There are a lot of activities. My mother loves to play games.

Craig Retirement staff is very nice. Mom is in a nursing home and in a shared room. They have a large bathroom, which is very helpful and one of the reasons why we chose that. The food is not great but OK. They do arts and crafts, they sing, they do some exercises and constant activities. It’s very nice.

When we first put my mom at The Craig, it was run by the Methodist church. Now, it’s a corporation, and we’re not as happy with it because they keep upping the price without bettering the care although she’s happy there. What my sister really liked about this place is that their nursing home is attached to the assisted living building. We thought that if my mom had to go to the rest home, it would be more like she had not moved; she just changed rooms because we don’t know how hard moving her is going to be because she’s happy. They upped the cost from $4,250 a month to $5,000. When the Methodists ran it, we were told that she could stay no matter what happens. Now, the corporation that bought it no longer honors that. It’s was better when it wasn’t run by a corporation, but as far as the care goes, she gets good care. We’re not afraid that she’s going to be harmed in any way. That’s the main thing -- knowing she’s safe. My mom has a one-bedroom apartment with a bedroom and a small living room with a kitchenette in it. She can adjust her own heater there. They provide lots of activities for her and keep her busy. The have exercises, bingo, cards, church, and have birthday and holiday parties. My mother is busy all day long. They give her medicines and check on her at least once through the night. Other than the cost, we wouldn’t be thinking about moving her. The only problem we’ve had is that ever since they changed hands, we’ve seen turnover in the staff, so we don’t really know any of the nurses who are still there. They seem to be friendly enough. I think it has a homey atmosphere because they have a TV room and an aquarium in their lobby. You don't see a lot of people in wheelchairs and walkers. It’s a pretty pleasant place to be. There are huge windows in both of her rooms. We didn’t see any other place that we thought was better than The Craig. I would recommend this place to other people.

Craig Retirement has another option after skilled nursing, which is the long-term care or memory care unit -- that would eliminate another change for mother. The staff answered all of my questions, It's very aesthetically pleasant, clean, organized, and everyone knows what they're doing. I feel she's safe when she's there.

The Craig has all facilities, starting with independent living and up through assisted living and then into full nursing. They even have an Alzheimer's unit. It is really nice because you could live in there and die there. It is a lot larger and lot fancier. It was very clean and very nice. I was very impressed with it. However, it was more expensive than where I am now. The staff was really committed. They worked really hard. They were very friendly and very helpful. They would go out of their way to help you with anything. The dining area was nice, but they only have one meal a day.

My dad temporary stayed at the Craig, and I thought the best thing about it was the accommodation. The sanitation was fine. It was clean and upgraded. The facility itself was nice. The dining area and the rooms were very nice. The staff was OK. I would say that 50% of them were great and 50% were just there because they had a job and not necessarily because they liked it. They were lacking. If they had some good staff, I think that would be a great place.

I would highly recommend The Craig. I like this facility because they had all levels of care. They have a very large complex. The facility is very clean and nice. It has a very homey feel when I visited there. They do daily activities. They also go on shopping trips and they take the residents' doctor's visits.

The rooms in Craig were very nice and spacious and I really like that. The activities were fine but they would charge you more for the beauty shop and extra meals which I didn't think were right.

My experience with Craig Methodist Retirement Community was a pleasant one. At first, I was skeptical about having to visit my Grandmother in an assisted living facility. My Grandma and I were extremely close, so having to see her needing care was hard on me. The first time I visited her, she stayed in her room and kind of moped around. I think it was difficult for her having to leave the comforts of her own home to stay somewhere else and have strangers care for her. The place itself is nice, really nice, but that doesn't matter if she was unhappy. I just remember being unsure about the whole ordeal until about the second or third visit. I remember visiting her on a Saturday during one of their activities. She was up moving around, laughing and visiting with other elders in wheelchairs. I haven't seen her smile like that in a long time. It was then that I realized how lonely she was at home all by herself. The staff even seemed like they were having fun watching them interact. I knew then that this place was going to be good for my Grandma and that I didn't have to worry about her welfare anymore. Each visit thereafter was great! She really seemed to be enjoying herself despite her situation. The staff seemed alright too. I think there was one nurse that my grandma didn't care for because every time I visited she would stare down that nurse and tell me that she's a mean one. I don't think it was anything bad because my grandma would've have said so, but I don't think she was that nice either. I think her overall experience was very pleasant, though. I even had a nice experience with the place and I'm not a fan of assisted living facilities.

We went to see the Sagecreek Assisted Living & Windflower Nursing facility while in Amarillo to check out possibilities for our uncle. We have some friends and family in the area and our uncle is most accustomed to the weather here, so we would like to find him a new home in the area. The outer grounds seemed to be very nicely landscaped and cared for. Our uncle has done a lot of gardening in his time, so this would impress him. The staff was lovely -- even though we didn't have an appointment, they gave us a thorough tour of the place. The fresh flowers everywhere were a nice touch, which they got from their own gardens. We were told that residents interested, may participate in gardening activities and grow their own flowers, just like they would at home. All of the communal rooms featured nice decorations and a comfortable space for residents to enjoy as they wish. They also had some private visiting rooms. The living spaces were thoughtfully designed, with the resident's needs in mind. The dining areas were all decorated with nice furniture - both the more formal setting and the casual eating areas. The food and snack menus we saw were filled with delicious and nutritious options for the residents to enjoy. The staff interaction with residents was refreshing to watch; they all seemed to enjoy caring for the residents and the residents responded well. This is very important to us; without that in place, it makes no sense to consider a place. We thought the facility is a great place for any senior to consider living.
