My father has moved into MountainBrook Village. They have friendly staff. They all have been really nice people. It's a nice facility, and the room is also nice. It's in a good location. They have everything, and you can opt in or out of whatever you need. They have house cleaning. They have three meals and have a care nurse. I have tried the food; it's really good. They do football game stuff, and they take them to town. They have different board games and bingo. They have different stuff to do.

The only thing the staff at MountainBrook Assisted Living showed me was assisted living because she didn't have anything available for memory care. All the rooms I saw were private. They had a dining room area and a living room area, and at the time I was there, they were doing a Bible study with the residents. I did not like the layout of the place. It reminded me more of a hospital layout. It's institutional instead of apartment-type areas that some of the others were. They have different buildings for the different levels of care like their memory care was in a separate building. They also have buildings that are independent living as well. They have a courtyard, a little room where they were doing the Bible study, and a room to do all the activities with them. My mother-in-law has always enjoyed church and that would give her the capability of having a church or Bible study there and that impressed me the most.

We are trying to see if we can get mom in MountainBrook Assisted Living, LLC. They refused her once before, but I am trying to see if we can get them to re-address that. A lot of things have changed, so maybe we can get her in. It started about three years ago initially that we wanted to move her into an independent living apartment. Different things have happened, and now we need the Alzheimer's unit. They are super nice folks. The marketing lady was excellent. It seemed very clean, very nice, and a very well-run place. It is more of a paperwork issue trying to get her in there, but hopefully we can. We are looking for shared rooms at this time. They are sort of in the same room with two beds, a split, and it was very nice. The room comes with most of the furnishings you need. They got the community center where they all come together, and they got all kinds of activities they do with them there. I know they take them once a week to Wal-Mart to get anything they need, and they do transportation to appointments and stuff. I got to tour everything, but I did not see any actual people visiting. I think they are doing visitation in the common area, and they are keeping social distancing and wearing a mask. I know they reduced the restrictions that were mandated. They are trying to ease up some of that stuff now. They're good, and they seem to be on top of the game. I was there during mealtime, and the food looked good and smelled good.

I went to MountainBrook Village. Everything was fine. The room was adequate and clean. There were some exercises going on. The residents have separate areas for activities. They have a small library adjacent to the entrance. However, it's not a place I want to be.

my mother in law, my mother and dad, then my dad alone were in what was then Markhill.. Mother in law had independent apartment first, then care in the main building, Mom and Dad had 2bedroom aprt. for some years, then Dad had one bedroom apt, then room in main building. the main building was when more care was needed and not able to wander alone. I noted someone said the diningroom was too far to walk....there was a golf buggy that made rounds to pick up those that could not walk when my Mother in law was there. All in all, I remember thinking this was not bad and I probably could do it when the time came for myself. it was some 15-20 years younger building then. I have not check it lately, but I am downsizing a large home and have been looking for options, so will be looking into this one again.

Although the facility is a little on the older side, it is definitely "Homey". As soon as we walked in the door, you could hear and see "life" happening ( I think the game they were playing was Hot Potato and the residents were cackling with excitement). This facility is free from odor, and you could see the staff interacting with residents at the turn of every corner. The Administration is very knowledgeable and found the office staff is very accommodating to help. We are very pleased with our visit and will be sharing with our mother about our experience during our visit.

Mountainbrook is a little bit older, but it is a larger place. It has independent living apartment adjacent to the assisted living. It is a larger place and a little more spread out. It was nice, and the people were friendly. The room setup was a little bit different like a dorm room. This is just a bedroom with a room for a chair. The rooms were a little smaller and a little older. There is a much longer walk to the food area. There is nothing wrong with it, but for my mother-in-law using a walker and her personality, it would not have worked. It was fine and the people were helpful; it just didn't meet her needs well. They do have an activities calendar, but there was nothing going on when we were there.

I placed my parents in this facility because my dad has Alzheimer's and they needed more care than I could give to them. The other residents, maintenance and housekeeping are excellent. The administration is not so good. I was told my parents would be checked on twice daily. After my father had an incident we had to take him to the hospital. I called down there 5 days later and they never knew my parents had been gone. How is this??? You were suppose to check on them daily. Also, there is a deposit of $1500. I was told this deposit was used if my parents needed to go into the 24hr watch unit. When I was out of town for a few days my Dad desperately needed to go to this unit but we were told NO. The main administrator is never in her office to be able to talk to about complaints. After taking my Dad to the hospital, I needed to get inside their apt for extra clothes for my Mother, I was told they do not have another key to their apt. If that is tru then how will they get in in case of an emergency. Luckily the awesome maintenance men got me in. Also, this is not just a retirement home, they also rent to foreigner young people that have come here to work. I thought I was taking my parents some where they could enjoy being with others the same age. We were never told that others could live there. I would not recommend anyone to send their loved ones to the facility.

Mom has been at Mountainbrook since the second week of January. It doesn't have carpet, it's clean. The tenants are all real nice, everybody gets along. The staff is very happy. They're caring, they're real nice. The dining area and the food are excellent. The rooms are very spacious and nice-sized.

If you can afford better stay away from this place. I signed my Uncle in on a one year lease. I was shown a large similar private room which they initially placed him in. After a couple of months he was moved into a small room that looked like a closet. It had dirty carpet and was not large enough to navigate a wheel chair. Their resident nurse practitioner kept prescribing him pain meds that his doctor canceled several times. Three months ago he was given so much pain medication that he almost died and had to be put on hospice. For the last six mmonths he has been living out of a box because they kept tellin him they were moving him to another building
