I’ve visited this building for loved ones, friends, and individuals I cared for over the years. As stated by other reviews this building had a poor year in 2017-2018. I quit visiting in 2018 just because of management. I heard that their director of nursing was back, and they had a new fun administrator who truly loved the residents. I visited last week and it is a complete turn around. The building has a fun atmosphere again, staff are responsive soon as you come through the door asking me if I wanted something to eat or drink. Then even offered for me to have lunch with them. This building is so nice as it is small and the staff seem to know everyone who comes through the door, and know their residents and their families.

My friend liked Dogwood Bend Senior Living better. It was very close to where her doctors are, there were very few hallways, and the management was nice. Although it was expensive, it was her choice. The place was small and they manage to make it seem like they have a big backyard with patios and things like that. It was during the pandemic when I visited, so all of their communal recreations was missing, but they have all the other kinds of things. They had laundry services, church services, ice cream socials, outings, transportation, and meals in the dining room in people's rooms. They have private rooms, semi-private rooms, a lot of different parlors, and dining rooms for your family to come. They used to have library trips and museum trips. So, I imagine they've started that back up now. They had a big long list of things they do when they were able to. They have monthly planners up and there's something different to do every day. I liked the staff. They were outstanding.

I spent 14 months visiting and caring for my parent at Dogwood Bend. Everything was great until Christmas 2017 when almost all the outstanding staff left. New management hired what I consider unqualified and rude staff. The quality of food changed for the worse immediately. Living conditions, in my view, became unsanitary and unsafe. The hot water didn't work properly for weeks, residents weren't bathed, rooms were left uncleaned, incorrect medications were distributed, and narcotics went missing. Other management changes in January and February didn't help improve the decaying situation. Since the ongoing changes just created more uproar and weren't solving any problems, my family gave notice to leave because we could no longer tolerate the incompetence, rudeness, mismanagement, and dissembling from staff. This is no place for old people who can't defend themselves. Thank goodness we got out and newer, up-to-date facilities were available in Clarksville.

Based on personal experience with a family member resident in the facility, I know that Dogwood Bend used to be a wonderful community to which loved ones could be entrusted. Prior to December 2017, the facility was staffed by a strong team of hardworking, trustworthy, trained, long term, caring and devoted personnel. Prior to December 2017, Dogwood Bend was a place people wanted to stay and enjoy their senior years. However, in my opinion, the arrival of new management, resulted in the entire place falling apart in a matter of weeks. Long term employees quit or were fired. In my opinion, administrative concern for residents' safety and health plummeted. Showers were not given and rooms were not cleaned for weeks. New employees, many without substantial background in elder care, received a bare minimum of training before being allowed to undertake key duties such as medication distribution. Although Dogwood Bend, promised changes that would restore the prior friendly, safe and congenial atmosphere of the facility, the larger problems, in my opinion, remain fully unresolved. Several residents moved out for a variety of reasons, including a sense that the high cost at Dogwood Bend wasn't worth the deteriorating services now received. Staffing there is a revolving door, creating, in my opinion, an unstable and uncertain environment to a population of vulnerable seniors who need calm routine in their lives. At this point, I would never recommend Dogwood Bend as a place to put a loved family member. Definitely do your homework before selecting any long term care facility for a family member. I was amazed at how quickly a once splendid place like Dogwood Bend could hit the skids. If the place ever returns to its former charm, it will be a miracle.

Dogwood Bend is excellent. I love it. The staff people are very friendly and very personable, I highly recommend all of them, and my mom loves them. She is happy, and I am happy if she is happy. I painted her room, got new blinds and curtains, and furnished it. She has a big TV, nice closet, new shower, and shower curtain, and we fixed it up ourselves because we wanted it to be her place. She is happy with the food and has gained 15 lbs., which is fantastic. It has beautiful grounds, beautiful landscaping, a nice gazebo, and nice grill for cookouts during the summer months. It is in a good location.

Dogwood Bend was very nice, and I liked the people that worked there. Some of the residents seemed very happy, but some seemed lost. The food at the welcoming area looked very good. The dining area was very clean, neat, and orderly. There was a piano in the front area. The rooms looked very nice and of good sizes.

I like the fact that there are only 30 residents in Dogwood Bend. I was very impressed with the facility and the director. She was very helpful and very friendly. I didn't want a place that had buffet dining. I wanted a place where they sit down and eat. She has a bedroom and a private bath. It was enough room for two people because my mother has a roommate there. They have activities everyday like exercise classes and bingo. The people are very caring, very nice, and very considerate. Anything you ask of them, they are on top of it right away.
