My husband was at NHC HealthCare North Augusta. They were nice. It was a little more nursing home feel. I had been in that facility on a variety of occasions, visiting friends that had to go into rehab. His room was nice. Every time the staff came in, they wanted to know everything about him because he was new. His level of care was closer to a nursing care level, but he was still pretty much out of it, not wanting to eat a whole lot and drink a whole lot, and they were working towards getting him up and walking around. I think they managed to get him in a wheelchair and wheel him around and got him to eat a little bit, but he still ended up not eating enough and drinking enough, so they had to get him back into the hospital. It's clean and well-maintained.

I visited NHC Healthcare-North Augusta. The aesthetic was good, but it was not quite as clean as I thought it would be. The food was not good either. It could be because of the residents' diet, but to me it was not good. The outside areas were very nice. They have a salon, a nice dining area, a nice common area, and a gym type facility.

National Health Care is a nice and clean place. My aunt is doing OK there. We requested her to have a semi-private room and have her bed beside the window (because she loves looking out the window at the birds) but it took a while for them to get her to move. So, that was a little frustrating. Some of the staff are better than others. It's hard to get a social worker to give you a call back. I think they called back one time out of all the weeks my aunt has been there (we've called multiple times). So, they seem to be a little disconnected with your concerns. The food is good. My aunt eats it. They have bingo, physical therapy, and a lot of common areas where they can get at or sit around and watch TV or have group things going on. They also have nice outdoor areas within the facility, such as a courtyard.

Since my mother has been there she has not had a good experience at all. She has recently had 2 different cancers and is very weak and depressed. She really would like to get up to the bathroom herself and is very embarrassed if she has an accident. There have been many incidents she has called to get help on the bedpan and has had to wait 30,45 or even 60 minutes for help. They should try waiting that long when they really have to go! She has also had a nursing assistant be very rude to her. The excuse we keep getting is they are under staffed. Yet again this morning my mother calls me and I live in Florida and says she has been waiting 30 plus minutes to get help on the bedpan and she doesn't know what to do except use it in the bed. I called and got the same old excuse that they are under staffed and it may take a few minutes. Told her if they are that understaffed maybe the state could help them get better staffing if I file a complaint!

My Mother has been in NHC for just 3 weeks. I wish I could say this is pleasant but it's not. They admitted they are understaffed. Just this past week, I called for the nurse to assist Mama to the bathroom, she came in and said it would be a while because they're understaffed and they are feeding right now. Meanwhile (50 minutes later), one of the sweet nurses from the desk just happen to walk by and ask how we were and I told her the situation. She was upset and apologize for that other CNA and helped Mama. Then the day before that, Mama had to use the restroom, the CNA came in and said "You get to use the bedpan", I said "No, Mama uses the restroom (I didn't know if she was aware because some do not). She said "Well, tonight she is because I have a hurt knee".....

Both my parents were in NHC HealthCare, but then my mother passed away, so my father has continued to stay there, though he is, hopefully, transitioning back home very soon. So far, the staff has worked with us. The facility seems to be in good shape. There is carpeting. The food seems to be tasty and good. Most of the staff, at least the ones I’ve had interaction with, have been friendly and helpful. There had been a few minor concerns, but overall, it has been very positive and convenient. It is just off the interstate, and the grounds and everything seems to be well kept. The outside seems attractive and maintained.

Nurses could not handle my father who was on the dementia wing for a week, so they kicked him out,

For the most part the staff is not attentive. Getting an answer to a question is almost impossible. They tell you what the think they need to tell you to get you to go away. The facility is impressive but during the tour you probably won't be shown all of the wings. One of the wings smells like dirty diapers.

Very lax, unsafe and uncaring. The interaction between the staff and residents is almost nonexistent. They run out of food often. The portions are small and fruit and vegetables a luxury. Lots of starch and little nutrition.

My mom is in NHC Healthcare. The staff is okay but they’re understaffed. They’re not getting anybody to feed mom. They have activities but mom doesn’t participate. They’re one of the best nursing homes around here but they could still improve. They could improve on the care of the patients especially in helping the patients eat. They could learn teamwork.

My mother broke her ankle, so she's in NHC Healthcare for rehab. She was there before. I had no problem with their service. They're very caring and they take care of her needs. She's in a room with another patient, but she has her own bed, closet, and a nightstand. Mom said the food tastes good.

The staff were generally very nice, not as attentive as we would have liked, but from a family member's perspective I guess you only want the best and can't see what's really going on. The facility was very clean, had a nice activity room, physical therapy room and sun room with rocking chairs for the residents.
