I chose Shepherd's Care Assisted Living Center for my parent because their staff has an average of 14 years, their director has been there almost 30 years, and the nurse has almost 30. There's virtually no turnover like all the other health care facilities with a turnover every six months, and ownership every three years. It's run by Bob Jones University, which has run it since day one there. That's the reason why I chose it, and they're a very good and honest facility, bottom line. I've eaten there several times and the food is good. They've got tons of activities, about 5 to 6 a day.

Shepherd's Care looked like a great place. If I could afford to put my mom in, I would have. It was in good shape. It looked like a nice, clean place. I talked with some of the elderly there and they all seemed to love the place. I talked to a couple of nurses, and they loved working there. They were all nice people. It was a good experience. The folks were eating lunch then. But they showed me a little area where they have activities, and I guess, they were going on a little outing later that day. The apartments were small but they were clean.

Care at Shepherds Care is very good. Staff is always kind, caring and helpful. I wish meals had more fresh fruit and vegetables. I’d like to see more choices in case a certain meal isn’t appealing. Even a simple cup of soup & half sandwich. Previous facility always had a different soup every single day to choose from. I think it would be fun to bring in some culinary students for some fresh ideas.

I have had the opportunity to spend some time at Shepherd’s Care, and it has a very cozy, homey feel. The rooms are large, and the staff is pleasant. The administrator is extremely kind, caring, and he obviously loves the residents. Shepherd’s Care has a lot of activities to offer, and the residents seem to thrive.

Shepherd's Care Center was a crummy place. She was misdiagnosed going in and she wound up in the emergency room twice and almost died once from being there. They also have a dementia wing. The price was better than any place I found here in Greenville, but the care reflected the price. It was old, it smelled, and a lot of work needs to be done to that building to make me feel comfortable about my mother being there. I was not happy with any of the staff members. They were lazy, non-caring, and non-committed to their job. The lobby was OK, but past that point, I was disappointed in everything. It's an old building that they tried to renovate, but they didn't put enough money into the renovations. Everything looked old and used. They just let her sit in her room and one day they found her hanging by her neck between her mattress and her nightstand. She almost died and they had to take her to the hospital. The care was poor and there was no attention paid to the patient.

Both my parents were at Shepherd's Care, and my Mom is still there. My Dad passed there, and the respect and caring they demonstrated with him, and still do with my Mom, is inspiring. The nurses and attendants are caring, in what I experience as a genuine, personal way. I'm really grateful for this place. Eric, Ana, Elizabeth, Teresa and others--are awesome!

Disgusting place.. roaches in the room when I visited my friends mother.. I spoke with the lady named Lisa and she was very rude after she learned we were moving the resident out. You can tell she's not a Christian from her comments as well as the lady named sterling. Very rude! I hope and pray they come to know Christ soon

Shepherds care center may not look like the typical corporate run and totally modernized assisted living because it's not. Unlike other assisted livings the staff members actually CARE about the residents and families! The employees are not just punching the time clock but are truly serving, loving and caring about the residents. That was far more important to me then the the modern apperance and decor when I had to make the decision for my mother with dementia. Knowing that the staff caring for my mom were kind, compassionate and gentle made it much easier to leave her. Coming from the corporately run and decorated assisted living where the staff were impersonal and just there for a job it was such a relief and total blessing to find Shepherds Care And it was more affordable! Awesome staff helps provide residents and families with encouragement, care and create treasures memories through their family/resident/staff events. So if you are looking for a family type of Care giving environment for your loved one this is a great fit!

Shepherd's Care Center was a nice facility, but they were expensive. The facility was very old. The carpet did not look good at all. The rooms were pretty nice, and they were good size, but the facility itself was just a very old building. It seemed like a nice enough facility, and I have talked with some of the residents. They seemed happy, but I just did not feel like it was going to be a good fit for my mother. I met with some of the nursing staff, and they did not impress me much at all. This place did not leave me with a good first impression. The administrator could not have been nicer -- i.e., very easy to talk to and very personable -- but some of the staff did not impress me at all.

Excellent caring staff and administration! My ex husband (friend) is in this facility, everything is super clean and safe. The pricing is well within normal and he loves it there! It is a facility associated with Bob Jones University and the Chrisitan commitment to the residents is remarkable. We could not ask for a better situation.

I learned about Shepherd's Care from the mission that we worked for and was referred to me. My mom stayed there earlier last year. It's a very clean place. The meals are extremely tasteful and the staff are very caring. I like their rooms because it's very sunny and clean.

Shepherd's Care Assisted Living is one of the better known care centers in the Greenville Area. My grandfather and my family were initially attracted to Shepherd's Care because of its affiliation with Bob Jones University, an institution that my grandfather has long been involved with. The best part about Shepherd's Care was the commitment of community groups like Bob Jones to the social life of the community. They also were a dog-friendly facility, which was great for him. There was a daily Bob Jones hour as well as numerous church services and other activities. The residents seemed very cheerful and fulfilled socially for the most part. The dining facility was very nice and the food was about as good as I have seen or tasted. The staff was very gentle and supportive of my grandfather, who was having a very hard time adjusting to the place. However, due to understaffing or just the level of care my grandfather needed, he fell no less than 7 or 8 times while in his individual rooms. He had to leave Shepherd's Care after he broke his hip. I don't believe this was necessarily the fault of the staff, but it did color our experience there. One thing that is slightly unnerving about Shepherd's Care is that it has an institutional feel. It is a very old building (used to be a Shriner's Hospital) and it still smells and looks a bit like a hospital, especially when you leave the central area.

Shepherd's Care Center in Greenville, South Carolina offers affordable assisted living. I regularly visited here for many years and took part in special activities with Alzheimer's patients living in this facility. The staff of Shepherd's Care realizes that each client is an individual with many different needs. They offer individual and even couple rooms. They offer affordable assisted living to families looking for a special place for their loved ones. They have a full time activity coordinator and keep the residence very busy and feeling young at heart here. I worked through their volunteer program and spent many hours enjoying socializing with the special residents of Shepherd's Care Center. The activity coordinator at that time was easy to work with in my scheduling also. There is licensed nurse supervision and nursing assistants. Dementia care for your loved ones are offered here as well. The place is spacious and clean. They offer 3 restaurant style meals daily plus snacks for the residence. It is conveniently located to a small shopping mall across the street with grocery store and other general stores as well.
