Brookview was a great facility for our mom’s rehab. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff and therapists were kind, nice, encouraging, and supportive. Kayce, the Administration and Marketing Director, was amazing. She was always eager to help us with any questions or concerns we had. She was very professional, caring, helpful, and extremely supportive from day one. She quickly responded to all our texts and calls and showed us lots of patience and understanding as she went the “ extra mile” to make our rehab experience as pleasant as possible. Kayce is definitely a blessing to the residents and families at Brookview in Gaffney. She is always going above and beyond her duties to make Brookview a success story for all its rehab patients.

My brother was a resident of Brookview Healthcare Center. It was awful. It smells. It's dirty and I won't let my dog live there. The staff was so lazy. The only thing they were doing was sitting around in the office. The people I've seen in their rooms for help, don't even budge to go see what the people need. I saw them playing bingo. I never did see a dining area. He always stayed in his room. The food was awful. They gave him mostly sandwiches for lunch and dinner. To improve, they need to clean the place up. Educate the nurses. Give someone that is motivated because they're not motivated. They sit at the desk the whole time talking. They can see the lights from the desk. They did not go in the person's room to see what was going on or what they needed.

This facility lacks professionalism. The administration is little to no help and doesn’t seemed concerned with the well being of the patients. She is callous and won’t compromise. Clothes are never returned. And the patients best interest are not taking into consideration. I have a great friend in the facility but I would never put my own loved one here. Most of the staff has been helpful but the higher ups are truly awful and should be ashamed. There are different standards set for different patients.

What absolutely amazing Nurses and Staff. Her Doctor was really great too! I mean everyone working there I have had contact with .We do appreciate knowing it's a safe and clean place. The care she has been given has been absolutely wonderful. Our Family appreciates this more than you know. It's a difficult time and knowing her care is in good hands means a lot. Thank You and God Bless.

Physical therapists seem to be good and interested. Not sure how elaborate the actual equipment is, as we cannot see it due to Covid. Good meetings with the head, and good interaction with various therpists he had. Although we didn't know the schedule - sometimes he had weekend therapy - sometimes not. Food quality - minimal. Nursing care - minimal Aide care - widely varied Administration - take them with a grain of salt Transportation - one doctor office visit - transport not scheduled. One hour late for appointment In house doctor - Would be nice if they would somehow connect with spouse for appointment. They seem to rotate staff during shifts - not sure what this accomplishes, especially during Covid - except to possibly expose more residents to different people. Don't believe anything they tell you when you first meet with them. Consistency of car is vast. It seems to be the luck of the draw. LOTS of employees are "agency" (temporary) - funny how they seem to actually be the most caring! Since no one actually cared for the resident regularly, no one actually got to know him. VERY slow response to call button. Quite obviously understaffed. Resident supposedly had a UTI. Discovered on Saturday - no medication to be given until Monday. Resident collected his own specimen (without help) - they left a bedpan for him to collect it over a period of time. I do not see how it could have been sanitary. - or a clean sample They do not seem to be following Ohio guidelines that allow for outdoor visits. They told us we could have window visits - and THEY initiated opening the windows and even taking out the screens so we could really visit. We appreciated this very much. Then, 19 days in, they decided they could no longer do this, but rather than meeting with us to explain this - a nurse STORMED into the room with all kinds of accusations. (Really good for the residents anxiety! - not.) The next time we came and asked them to raise the blinds so we could talk via cell phone and see him, the aide did so, and then SHE opened the window. She was going to take the screen out and we asked her not to, as we realized there was definitely some lack of communication going on. We talked through the crack. then the next time we came were verbally accosted AGAIN by the nurse. It is stressful to go there to visit - it does not feel welcoming, but rather that some are actually setting up an adversarial relationship. Also - the building is VERY old - the windows do not work well, and the employees did not know how to carefully open and close them - therefore, they stripped the gears and they became hard to open and close. We were told by the nurse that "they felt sorry for us" and "that some patients don't get any visitors at all" - I'm not sure how that was even relevant. Were we supposed to feel somehow privileged that we were allowed to visit? - or feel guilty that they decided after 19 days that we were somehow abusing the privilege? Again - VERY unprofessional behavior. Also - if there are activities the resident has not taken part in them. He is left in his room, in his bed. No one asks if he needs help with daily care activities. After 20 days he has not yet had a shower, anymore than a sponge bath or had his hair washed. I wish the ratings allowed for a variation of staff - as I said PT was quite fine (3-4 stars). The rest were variable (1-3 stars). Most visits were good and pleasant - GREATLY overshadowed by some who were curt and uncaring, and others who were outright unprofessional and adversarial. I would never go here again. And, if the stay were any more extended we would be looking for alternate facilities outside the county.

My cousin has been in this facility for at least 2 years. She has had a lot of her clothes that has been stolen. On many occasions going in she has been left in the bed lying in urine (she is unable to change herself). Just recently now they come up and say that they have lost her dentures which she can not go without if she is going to eat.. She has no family members that can physically or financially take care of her. This is so sad that people can not do there job and take care of people the way they are suppose to in the facilities.

The physical fitness area of Brookview was the best. The nurses were very hurried and always running around. They food was terrible and never brought my mother a cup of coffee the whole time. The rooms were fine. They weren’t great, and their mattresses were like plastic.
