My father was placed from the hospital to Pepper Hill Center for Rehabilitation and Healing for therapy and then he decided to stay there. It's very good. They treat us like family. I haven't had any problems with anything. The rooms are great. He's in a nice room, and he shares it with someone else. They placed him with a guy that was matched up to him, so he loves it. They're both good roommates now. He loves the food. I can't say anything bad about the food. The staff is excellent. I told them what his needs were when we got placed on a different floor and they make sure they follow those needs. They're doing a lot of work on the building. They're remodeling the whole place and it's looking gorgeous. They're repainting. The rooms are clean. Everything looks good. They have koi in the little pond and he loves to go out there and look at the goldfish. They have different little places where you can plant flowers. He loves to go to bingo. The price is reasonable. He was able to afford it.

Let's start with food. You may or may not get it. If you do, it's late, usually enateable. Maybe in a takeout box ,bag or tray. No ice on the hall except for a ice chest. No snacks. If you like cold rubber eggs and concrete, this is your place. Staff, it depends on if they have anyone working. Family don't try calling, halls don't have secretaries. The nurse has a phone, good luck. Need anything, expect at least an hour wait. Social worker, clueless comes to mind as nice description. I could go on, but family still there until I can find something else. We have always heard good things about this place, somebody lied.

My mom's experience with Pepper Hill Center for Rehabilitation and Healing has been OK. The staff is pretty good overall, but it depends on the shifts. You got some good ones and some that are not. The facility needs some upgrading (which they're in the process of now), and the semi-private rooms are just too small for her.

My father was in Pepper Hill Center for Rehabilitation and Healing. It's a rehab facility in Aiken, South Carolina. It had great staff and a building that was built in 1970 that has not been touched since 1970. Their staff was just great, they're very attentive. He was only there for 3 weeks. He received occupational therapy and physical therapy, and they helped regulate his medicine.

This place is a complete dump, its unclean and all I saw was nurse on the phone. They don't check on their patients. No one ever comes to the room to see if they are ok or help them with their needs. It smells and the food looks and awful. I don't see any interactions with the staff and patients. This place is dark and not hardly any bright lights.

I had to choose a nursing home to put my mother into and was not what either of us wanted to do but mom needed total, round the clock care. I am a male nurse and always thought I could do it but - not realistic and needing a staff of people to take care of her needs made it that way. My mother was there for months. When we called from the hospital - Admissions guy came to the hospital and was so nice, took his time and answered all the questions. After telling him what type room we wanted he left. Well 2 hours latter the hospital was sending us - so fast - they needed the room - well when we got there the room was already set up and waiting on us. Only had one issue with the cable - mom's Braves were coming on and no picture. I was out of town and called Ron - about 45 minutes later mom called me about how the Braves were doing. She was so happy and just to see her smile at this time in her life - made me feel great and its because they took care of the problem. Rooms are clean and kept clean and being a nurse = I never could work in a nursing home - for 2 reasons - i wear my hear on my sleeve - they say and the smell you usually have in a nursing home. Well this was the first time in my life and for 5 months - there was no nasty smell walking down the hall or in her room. Staff were great and ones on mon's hall who I got to know treated her like she was their family. I can't name others - sorry - so many but i stayed a lot and CNA's fixing to leave at end of their shift would come and check/change mom before leaving. Mom was a sweet patient and thanked everyone and told them that she loved them - not just here but her whole life. Mom never went to any activities. Food was good mostly - not like mom cooks - lol - but if you wanted something else you just had to ask to see if they had it. Also could fill out a menu weekly. Also some very important issues - mom was on Hospice and the staff at Pepper Hill worked very well as a joint effort to best serve mom. Nursing meetings went well and all of them asking questions and as to what else we might need. Last but not least - the lady who I dealt with monthly - to pay mom's bills was so so nice and kept me updated as to the long-term payments being made the status of the bills due. She kept me informed and at this time in your life - your mind is not working so well. Lastly - after mom's funeral - a nursing home is not a place you want to go back to but I had to - had to walk that hall again and hug and thank everyone there that had worked with me to make mom's last days on earth the best for her that they could be and helped me through this time too. All the people working in Pepper Hill have special calling to do this work and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My grandmother went to Pepper Hill for her rehab after she fell and broke her hip. We were so concerned about her going to rehab and getting the care she needed. The staff was so caring and the nursing staff was excellent. The attended to every need she had. The therapy was wonderful and in just a matter of a few days, they had my grandmother up and walking with assistance. My grandmother did so well, she was able to return home after a few weeks of therapy and the entire family was so pleased at how well she did and how well the staff at Pepper Hill took care of her. I highly recommend Pepper Hill. They are true to their motto, " Family taking care of Family."

This facility is not one of the best but good enough if you have a family member that needs a place for them to be cared for. They have a small living area located right after you enter an automatic door and sanitize as soon as you walk in allowing visitors to sanitize their hands before visiting the residents. The place is not too big but there is ample parking and a little garden where residents can look around if they want to relax outside, The rooms are not too big but some of them are shared so there is not much privacy. The walls are newly painted to brighten up the place. The dining areas are clean though not very spacious. The staff are nice but sometimes not too quick to answer the needs of the residents. They have activities that residents can participate of they want to. They have an alarm that is triggered when a resident that is equipped with the monitor passes through but they don't respond to it quickly which is a safety issue.
