Many people with job titles. Food is worse than awful. Rehab department is fantastic. Only week days. Halls are loud day and night. If you arrive from a hospital they do not get your meds til the next day. You just hurt and suffer. Took my surgery waterproof bandage off soon as I arrived. Put something no better than a bandaid on my incision. NOT waterproof. I was in a diaper and I worried the entire time I was there about infection in my incision.

My father is now at Anchor Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Aiken. He's in the nursing home. They do give him some type of therapy, but as of last week, I don't know how much therapy they've been giving him because he's been in a lot of pain due to a bulging disc in the back of his neck on the inside that's pressing against his esophagus, so he can barely eat anything or any liquids. He doesn't want a feeding tube, so I don't know where they're going to go because he needs surgery, but he's not strong enough for the surgery. As far as the therapist that I've met, they have been very professional and very friendly, but some of their CNAs are not so well. They have amenities and they have activities. Of course, my father is not able to participate in any of those. The rooms are spacious and the majority of the time, they are clean. But I have been there where it's like nobody has swept, nobody did the trash, and nobody has cleaned the bathroom, and we had to speak to a nurse in charge. The therapy room is equipped. They have something similar to a treadmill, but it's not a treadmill. They have board games too, like if you want to play checkers or cards. They supply toothbrushes, body lotion, creams, and stuff like that.

This facility needs to shut down for good, the lady that answers the incoming calls is always rude and shouldn't be working in the public. All they do is keep the patience in bed and set around and talk all day. They serve the residents pork and beans and weenies as a meal. The social service staff don't do there job either. I would rather die before I went there for help!

Anchor Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center was very good. I saw long-term and rehabilitation care. I like the hardworking staff. They cared, and they monitored the patients very good. The rehab part of it was excellent; I was in it myself. I had a surgery last year, and I spent 20 days in rehab in the hospital area in the Anchor Center. I got a pretty good look at Anchor then. The staff was very attentive and caring. I felt right at home. Food can be improved.

The staff was terrible with talking to the family. Patient was admitted into the ER and it was over 6 hours before the family found out. We found out through calling Anchor to ask about the patient and were told they called us and there was swelling of the brain. Checked phones, no calls. Called hospital and it was a severe UTI not brain swelling. Anchor tested for UTI and told the family there was no UTI, but hospital said otherwise. When contacting the owner, we received a call from nursing station to apologize, but they just argued. Patient was left in a dirty diaper all night while yelling for someone to change them. Patient was without a phone for days when there was constant calling and telling the staff to get the patient a phone.

I was recently a patient at Anchor for rehab...I will preface this by saying that the PT and OT are the BEST and care deeply for their patients. But that is where it stops. • I requested pain medication one day at 3:30 pm again at 5 and again a little after 6. At 10 to 9 I HAD RECEIVED NOTHING! • This is not the first time...one night I requested pain meds from 1 AM to 7 AM and only received them after shift change at 8:30 AM • I pressed my call light around 11 PM one night. I waited 45 minutes for someone to answer. I could hear staff in the hall laughing and carrying on. I finally was so pissed off I got myself out of bed and to the bathroom and back to bed BY MYSELF! I am a fall risk by the way. I turned off my call light. It had been on for 1 hour and 25 minutes! No one answered it. • On Sunday 02/01 I was put on 02 as my levels were fluctuating between 81-91. I did not see a Doctor until Tuesday and only after having to complain to the Administrator! The Administrator told my husband that there was 1 doctor for all the patients and that there were patients who needed attention more than myself. WHO SAYS THIS TO A CONCERNED LOVED ONE! • For 6 days I was unable to eat or drink anything. Finally, I had an MS exacerbation because of not eating and was very sick. I begged to call 911 because the pain was so intense. I had to call my husband who came down and argued with the nurses who said they couldn’t call 911 without a doctor order, which may be true but they were unable to treat me in my condition. I did blow up and yell but I was in so much pain I don’t remember a lot of it. • 911 was finally called and I went to the hospital where I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis. I had to be put on Steroid treatments and have a lot of tests. • 7 days later I am home having refused any facility rehab. This was my 3rd time here. I requested to come here because of the care I was given those past 2 times. My last time here was exactly 2 years ago practically to the day. I seriously cannot believe the level of care dropped so badly. There are some very good nurses and CNA’S but very few. Someone needed to post an honest review from a patient's perspective.

My father had two wonderful experiences at Anchor. From the housekeeping staff to administration, he received excellent care. The staff is very friendly and made him feel comfortable in an unfamiliar environment. The therapy staff was amazing and incredibly knowledgeable. He thoroughly enjoyed the food and was impressed by the accommodations provided. The overall aesthetic is breathtaking. Would recommend this facility 100% for rehabilitation services or skilled nursing services.

My mother was in Anchor Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Aiken. It was more of a nursing-home facility, so it was a good bit more expensive. I liked it alright. The staff was good. I know they had a 24-hour nurse and doctor at the place. They’re building onto the community now and doing a lot of work.

My husband became a resident of Carriage Hills in 2009 after back surgery. Even though he was moved close from the hospital to there close to a shift change there, his admittance was not rushed and he was made to feel comfortable. This made me feel more comfortable with our choice. I'm sorry that I can't remember the attendants names that took care of him, but, everyone was so nice and made him feel at home. This includes the nurses, CNAs, CMAs, therapists, dieticians, etc. In fact, everyone there made it more like home for him. He was embarassed by the fact that he was having problems with bladder control. I distinctly remember a CNA named Bernice who came to clean him up when it first happened. She was so kind and talked to him and told him not to be embarassed because it was something he couldn't help. She further said that was what they are there for - to take care of him and help him to get better. He felt so much better after that talk. I really can't say enough about the care that was given there. The residents were well taken care of, the food is good, the therapy given is good, the staff is professional and caring. What more could anyone ask for? There is an activities room (Wii included) and makes for a fun place to go visit. Right before my husband went home, they had a birthday party for a resident that was turning 100!
