My husband is at Aventura at Pembrooke skilled nursing home. I like it there and he likes it there too. It's just so far away from home. It's almost a two-hour drive for me but I had to get him into a locked-down facility and it was the only one that I could find that would take him. They have a shortage of help but that's an issue in all the nursing homes. Some of the staff are good and some of them are not as good. The food is also not that good. For activities, they play bingo, watch TV, and do different things. The whole place is being remodeled but my husband is on the 3rd floor and they haven't gotten to it yet. I think it will be nice though. They have a gym and an outdoor patio. He's been there for a while now now so I would want them to get the third floor finished. They're working on the first floor now. Also, I would like it if they could have more activities. The place is near a hospital.

My father sat in his BM for hours, even after asking to be changed. They took his call bell from him and shut it in a drawer completely out of his reach. They put his phone out of his reach. He had the same wound dressings on for five days. They would not answer the phones at the desk.

I'd rather live on the streets than be put in that place. My friend sits in her mess for hours at a time and has become very depressed. They've also moved her to a different room several times, which has left her very confused. The staff is very rude and I have heard them talking bad about other residents. The activities are boring, usually playing bingo with cheap, nasty candy & ignorant assistants. The director of activities is also a piece of work...and not in a good way!!!

Place is dirty I wouldn’t let a dog stay there,it’s so scary a person would have an anxiety attack. My wife was transferred from crozier hospital to have a short term pt and ot when we followed the ambulance to pembrooke we went inside and me and my daughter who is a RN at a well known hospital said I have a bad feeling about this place and I did too.So I took my wife home instead to take care of her myself.

This place should be closed down.. Friend in here has not seen a doctor since being admitted six days ago and not being given meds for diabetes and AFib. Has sat in feces on multiple occasions for hours. Has requested to speak to social worker to begin self discharge with no results. CANNOT get a phone call through. Busy signal constantly. Staff is rude with exception of one nurse on weekend. Will be reporting to State to have closed.

To begin, the facility is very dirty and dated. Mildew on ceiling tiles and on floor. Food and possible rodent remains on floors. Next my father who was recovering from surgery and was suppose to receive daily bandage changes did not his first day. Also on his first night he soiled himself and even with calling for a nurse, said it was not till morning that he was cleaned up. A new shift came in and apologized and cleaned him and his bandages. Now as of tonight called for an hour straight to no one answering the phone except twice when a rude nurse told me there was no phone after telling me that my father was not even there.... or in system. This happened a few times until finally agreed to transfer me to the room he was in the day before where I visited. She transferred me to the business department both times and would not answer the next 10 times tried. My father had a phone in room as that was requested. However seems that is no longer there.

I went to Aventura at Pembrooke. I didn't like that place at all. It was all run down. All the doors were marked up where wheelchairs have rammed into them, I guess. It just seemed really old, and the entryway where you walk in was a little small. I wasn't impressed at all with that place. We went there for an appointment, and when I got there they had no one there who even knew we had an appointment. They brought this guy down from the third floor at the last minute, and he could barely speak English. He was walking my wife and me through this old building and trying to explain things, and I could barely understand him. It was really a bad experience. They had no idea that I had an appointment. It looked old and run down, like it needed a lot of paint and repairs before it would look nice -- maybe. The staff members were nice. They seemed like they were all caught off guard and weren't prepared for our visit.

The rooms were renovated. It seems as if they renovated he rooms to make up for the bad service and care. My family member has gotten so sick and it seems like there is always something happening. The facility smells bad and dirty. The staff is always changing that worries me. They do not call you back when you leave messages.

Horrible experience, I would not recommend this facility to anyone. It is dirty, the staff doesn’t care and they definitely do not have the patients best interest. Along with personal items going missing... just awful.

’ll be honest and say, looking at past reviews scared my family. We were informed that they were taken over by new management and that things have changed and are continuing to change. We took a chance and went to check it out. We needed a place for my mom who has dementia, is in the late stages and needed physical rehab after being in the hospital for 2 weeks. She had a mental breakdown due to her previous facility stopping a medicine cold turkey. That scared most places. We were in a tight spot and needed a place. We made up our mind in the parking lot afterwards. Bob, the director of admissions, was amazing. He wasn’t sale-sy or pushy. He was upfront and honest about everything. He did what he could to make it work AND make ya comfortable. Debbie, head of the nursing department, wasn’t afraid of our situation with mom having had a mental breakdown....so many places were. We moved mom in the next day. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and accommodating, everyone was so sweet. Mom has been there over a week now and nothing has changed. Everyone in the building has been so happy to help mom, and help us. I absolutely recommend giving them a chance. You won’t be disappointed.

We have been blessed that our family member was admitted to this home, the care was great, the ownership takes personal pride and is very dedicated to the individual residents needs, this helped iron many of the difficulties in admission and during the stay, Absolutely recommend

The staff answered all of my questions promptly and professionally - and is always available . My father has had several short term stays in the area in the past year. My main concern was clinical care - this is not a problem here. He received excellent care and Therapy department was phenomenal! Bottom line is my father was stronger when he was discharged . Thank you Aventura at Pembrooke !

I visited Pembrooke Health and Rehab, the people who worked there were very nice, they gave me plenty of information, and they were very helpful. However, I did not care for the facility because the rooms seemed like a hospital room. The place didn't feel like a home. They do have a therapy room. I noticed the smell of urine on the first floor, the residents dont stay there, and I dont like that. I talked to the staff members and they were all wonderful people. Theyre in the middle of remodeling.

The woman from Pembrooke that I spoke to was wonderful. My mom is in long-term care. The place is an older building but OK. Everybody seems OK. Sometimes when my mom falls, I don't always get a notification. They do a lot of coloring and bingo. The staff is wonderful and great. My mom moved in the last week of March.

They told us that Pembrooke was just sold and that they will be refurbishing it because it definitely needs to be refurbished. The staff is very good; my mom loves them. They have two dining rooms: one has a special menu, and the other one has a menu that you can choose from. My sister and I are the ones in charge of our mom, and one thing that I have a little peeve about is that it seems they want to deal more with my sister than me. When I call and leave a message or ask for confirmation, nobody ever returned my phone calls.
