The Caring Place was nice and very clean. There was some outside space that the residents were able to take advantage of and enjoy. There was an area where the residents could gather to do jigsaw puzzles. The staff who toured us around seemed very friendly and helpful. She's good about following up, providing information, and answering questions that I had. We were very interested in the double bedroom for both my parents to be in together. And I liked how the living area was sort of separate from the bedroom space where they could have a couch and a TV.

I toured the Caring Place. I liked the rooms that had the shower in it. I liked the fact that they can get a couple of different types of juices any time during the day. The staff was friendly. Actually, the residents were friendly, too. They said that the person would have to supply their TV, and they have to pay extra if they want a phone. The rooms are set up differently. Some were like a college dorm type thing with two residents in the room, and then some of the rooms were split with a half wall. So, it was basically individual, but it was like one room that two people would be in with a split wall in between. The staff member who took me around was very friendly and courteous.

My brother is in The Caring Place and we have been well pleased with his care and adjustment to being there, He enjoys all the activities and loves going to their church services. I feel it"s very well maintained and extremely clean and have not noticed odors. They notify us of all changes, whether it be meds, physical therapy, appointments, etc.

It's never easy to see a loved one loose their independence and have to go live in a specialized care facility like this. But I think this nursing home offer a lot of nice ammentities for residents with the dining room and chapel. I love that they have an old dog in the visiting room and they decorate for the holidays and have a little gift shop. The residents can play games and win credits for the gift shop, which keeps my grandma spry and willing to get out of her bed and down to the common areas. It's not a perfect place, sometimes mistakes are made with the medication and there isn't someone to help each person with their meals (my grandma has Parkinson's and it is very hard for her to cut up food and get it to her mouth). but I would never leave my grandma in a place where I wouldn't feel comfortable staying, and I think this place is pretty good. The rooms are very small for people navigating wheel chairs, but the layout of the other rooms is good. I really admire the people who work here. They always seem pleasant, chipper, and willing to help, and my grandma has really bonded with a few of them.

Overall, this is a nice facility. Rooms are nice and I hear the food isn't too bad for this type of facility. The best part is that the employees engage residents in games and fun things in the evenings to keep them occupied. For example, a bingo game among residents is always a blast. The negative part has to do with the employees' qualifications. They seem to not be very knowledgeable and one time my great grandpa left the facility (he was very forgetful) and none of the members of the staff even knew he was gone. We drove by and saw him walking on a bridge saying he was going to climb a mountain. That's completely uncalled for. Other than that incident, it seems like a nice place for the elderly who can't take care of themselves. It's also at a great location with a beautiful view of the river and trees. One additional negative, I suppose is the smell but that comes with assisted living facilities.
