I had a loved one that lived here at the end of 2020 and I was very pleased with how the staff treated her. They were wonderful with us and helped her with the ipad so that we could talk to her even when we couldn't come visit. I felt very comfortable knowing that Mom was there and that she was being taken care of.

I went to Renaissance Home Forks. They got a lady who was very nice. She showed me around, and she apologized. She just said, "This is a holiday and everybody's off" and then she made an excuse that she didn't know I was coming. The staff did her best. She was called out of nowhere to take me around. She tried her hardest to make my visit comfortable. She was the only good part of it. It was shabby, rundown, and needs painting. The whole place needs to be redecorated. I saw the menu, but I didn't eat anything. They texted me that I was to come on July 4th at 1:00, and there was nobody there. They should have made it another day, but still, the place was in bad shape. They should invest some money in fixing it up, and it might sell better.

I toured Renaissance Home Forks. It was very good. We were more than satisfied. Steve, who gave us the tour, did a great job and answered our questions. The apartment was more than reasonable. It had a nice space. They showed us a lounge room and the dining hall. They showed us several different rooms. We got to speak with the manager a little bit, and the chaplain.

I like the dining room of Renaissance Home Forks the best. The facility seemed very nice and very clean. The kitchen was very nice, too. There's one common area that has a TV and some chairs. Everybody was nice. I liked the place. Everything was good.

Renaissance Home Forks was nice, but the rooms weren't set up too good. It was a smoking facility. People smoke and I don't like smoke. As soon as I walked in the door, I smelled smoke. I met one staff member and he was nice. The building was under construction, so there was a lot of construction going on, so it was not the best. The rooms were a good size.

Renaissance Home Forks was very nice but they don't have a kitchen and I like to cook. So that's a negative for that one. I prefer to have my own kitchen. The building was very nice. I liked it. It was a very nice facility in a nice location. It's close to things. I almost would not need a car, because my car is costing me lots of money between the insurance and the car payments. The gentleman was very nice and very helpful. We sat and talked for a while until I had to leave. I was impressed with that. They have a room for dining and activities. I've talked to another gentleman who's been there over a year, and he likes it. Were it not for the no kitchens, I considered that facility a strong possibility. Other than that, it was wonderful and I liked the location. You could walk to a grocery store or shops and it wasn't right in the middle of things. It was in a nice area that wasn't too heavily trafficked or built up. Not quite rural but not quite suburban either.

We liked the location of Renaissance Home Forks. It's near my house so we can easily check on mom if she moves in there. The place was clean. It didn't have a smell like some other places that older buildings have. Mom said that she didn't notice any smell there. It was a clean facility, so she liked it. When we went there, the director was not on site, but the activity director was and she was so nice enough to show us around and give us answers. Even though she doesn't know all the administrative questions or whatnot, she was able to give us some kind of an idea of how the place was. I liked her. She made my mom agree to give it a try because she was hesitant. She also explained to us that there are certain times for food where you have to come down to the cafeteria to get your food, but if you don't feel like going down, there's a separate fee if you want your food to be brought to your room. The apartment was very nice. They have their own fridge in the room itself. You can just stay in your room and eat there. You don't have to rely on someone. We saw activities happening in the cafeteria that day. It was a pretty decent place.

I toured Renaissance Home Forks. It was very forthcoming, and they were very helpful in giving us the information that we need. We were shown two very nice rooms. It's spacious and not furnished. They were empty but has a good layout. We were happy with the view. I believe the manager's name is Steve, he was very good. We didn't go too much into the amenities. The facility looked nice, and everything looked good. I didn't have much to do with the staff, but as I passed by in the hallway, they seemed polite. The building was kind of old, square, and unadorned; I rate it a three as far as seeing it from the outside. We saw a game of Scrabble, and we saw a piano there that was said to be played on occasion. But that wasn't too much about the entertainment because most of the residents were either in their apartments or sleeping.

We liked Renaissance Home Forks very much. It's a very nice facility, and for the money, it was very good. I was there a couple of times. The first floor is going to be renovated, but the second and third floors have been renovated and the rooms are just beautiful. They really did a nice job on the individual rooms, and she would be going into independent living, and assisted living also, they did a nice job. Very bright, all brand new, just pretty. They were great. They were very friendly, nice people. I know they had a movie night. They renovated the large gathering room where they had cooking lessons, they said, and you could just gather and sit down. They put in a nice picture window, so it looked out to a really pretty view outside. The floors, the furniture, everything was new. It was very nice. They had two cafeterias, dining rooms. One was nicer than the other, I didn't like one of them on the first floor, it's kind of old looking. The first floor didn't look new, but the second and third floors, they did a great job. They said they were going to renovate the first floor, too. I don't know when, but my aunt would have loved it there. Outside, they only had a sitting area, but the sitting area really could have used some sprucing up. They said they were going to do that. The only problem is they make you give them a nonrefundable move-in deposit that is equal to the rent of the apartment, and that's expensive for a senior citizen, so I was a little disappointed in that. My aunt was going to pay for it, but it's $2100. The services and the room were well worth it, but to take another twenty-one hundred dollars from somebody who's on a budget, was the only thing that I wasn't thrilled with. They had a doctor there so you could get your prescriptions. They would order them for you, which was also, a nice service. They had a van to take you places if you needed a car. So those are services. There are no activities with the services they have, and they have some services there which were good. I think senior citizens are going to worry sometimes more about the services than the activities.

I have seen and visited the Renaissance Home Forks in person. What I didn't like about the room was it was just one big room and the closet space was very small. Otherwise, I would have grabbed that one. I saw everything, but the room that they showed me was just one big room where you'd put your bed at one end then the living area at the other end and I like my divisional rooms. Other than that, the view out of the window was nice, the dining room was beautiful, and the furniture was also beautiful. However, I got the impression that it's a place more for assisted living than independent living and I'm pretty much independent. The girl that showed us around was very nice and very helpful. I didn't see anybody else. At no time did I see a nurse and no one was at the desk, so that took away a little bit of my rating for them. I feel like with any place that is dealing with the elderly, there should be somebody there all the time. At the Renaissance, there was nobody in authority and we are elderlies, we need directions all the time. You can be independent, but there are things that come up that should be dealt with by someone with authority. Another disappointment with the facility itself is that they don't have apartments that could accommodate independent living as well as I like it. I like a separate living room, separate bedroom and they didn't show me anything like that, it was just one big room. I'd take points off that.

If you are searching for a loving, caring facility, please look elsewhere. Everything Renaissance lists in their “About” section is untrue. The aides are rude and disrespectful to residents. If residents voice a complaint, they face retaliation by staff. I’m on the verge of reporting an elder abuse situation. My dear friend is a resident but if she were my family member I would move her out ASAP. It’s a sad horrible situation for the residents. They deserve the love, care and respect from the staff. During this pandemic they did little to nothing to help with the isolation residents were feeling. No safe distance activities are planned. At the present time they do not and never have had an “executive chef”. Snacks - non-existent. Housekeeping is at a minimal service. Dietary needs are not provided. Reason was it’s too expensive despite recent price increase. Telephone are never answered and messages are never returned.

For new people coming in they bend over backwards just to get you in there. Ask them to show you ALL the rooms. They havent updated all the rooms at all, especially on the third floor! Charge the same price but pick and choose what rooms to do. I ask them when my Moms room is going to be updated and I never get an answer. Totally ignored!! As for the bus they have, hasnt moved in 3 year. Never saw any glorified card games and activities that they advertise, dont believe it!!!

They promise you the world and once they get your money they don't know your name. I put my father there and he lived there for 3 weeks and went into the hospital and he later died. I paid three months before he died and they wouldn't give back the $500.00 security deposit and won't let me go in and pack up his stuff they did it and not even an inventory list. Not one call to see how my father was doing just an invoice every month for there money. This place is a joke. The owner doesn't care because I have called so many times, not one person calls you back. This is so sad that a place that says they care about your loved one does nothing to help you. NOT A GOOD HOME!!!

Price was the huge factor why we chose Renaissance Senior Home Forks. The staff members are very nice and helpful, and it's a very clean community. It's a beautiful and brand-new independent living place and everything there also brand-new. They were willing to make accommodations and add some things. The dining area is very nice and has a very open concept. They have an activities calendar, and they would have trips to go out to lunch or dinner at restaurants, they have bingo, cards, crafts, baking, and a lot of different activities. There's a lot of renovations going on right now, but it's going to be nice.

I was impressed. They're doing a complete renovation. I was shown a nice, renovated, assisted living studio apartment, but to go in there immediately might be a little disruptive because of the renovations going on. They had a large recreation room, the menu looked very nice, and the staff person was very accommodating.

I just moved my mom back to this community in June. We chose this place because it was close to my sister's home and we heard good things about it, and because they help you stay there once you run out of money. The staff is very nice. My mom doesn't really like the food. She is accustomed to eating lighter, healthier food, whereas there it is heavier and has more gravy and sodium. Her room is just adequate, and we picked a smaller room for financial reasons. I know she plays Bingo there, and they usually have outings.
