My room is comfortable. My family had brought some family pictures and 3 of my African violets so it felt homey. A few days after I moved in, my cat moved in. It is so wonderful to have him with me. The caregivers are all very respectful of him, which adds to my comfort level.

We toured Sweetbriar Villa. We visited their assisted living. We walked through their Alzheimer's area but assisted living is what we were looking for. It was very clean. The people were hospitable. The price was quite a bit higher especially for what you got. Some of the rooms were doubled up, so there are two people in a room. It just didn't fit my mom. The facility itself is very nice. They have many services. They take tours and bus rides, and they have a TV set up for people who wanted to play games on. We went to the dining room, and it was nice. The staff who assisted us did their job nicely. Everything was in great shape. I took my sister, and at the time, it seemed like that was where my mother was going to live, and we were happy with the place.

Sweetbriar Villa was a smaller facility and had a very homey feeling to it. I went to the memory care but I saw a little bit of assisted living also because you kind of go through one to get to the other. They've taken in residents that complement each other or all the temperaments are very similar. So, it's just a pleasant and nice atmosphere. They're getting ready to remodel, changing the carpets and whatnot, but to me, everything they were replacing were still in good shape. However, one thing I thought was a little odd, maybe not for some, was they don't have showers in the resident's bathrooms. It was kind of down the hall, like in a college dorm, but still, it was a nice and clean place. It had nice gardens and the staff seemed very nice. The community relations provider that I toured with and I've talked to was also nice. She cares about everybody. She talks to you like she's known you and you are a friend of hers forever. The other staff we met in passing were also very pleasant. The residents that they were with said hello and talked to me as well. So, the staff and everybody seemed very nice.

My daughter and I went to tour Sweetbriar, and then we took my mom back to do a tour. She was fine with it. We were fine with it too. It looked like a really nice facility. We were impressed with it. It was very clean, nicely set up, and the manager there was excellent. She took us on a tour and explained all the activities and stuff. They had a lot of things my mom would have enjoyed. They had an activity when my mom and I were out there, and several people were attending; they were all laughing and having a good time. They showed us the menu and their kitchen area was very clean. They had changed the seating to accommodate for the rules on the virus. They had decided this year to put in a garden in raised boxes so that the residents could pamper the plants. They planned to use the food that was grown to be included in the meals. I thought that was great. It's nice outside. There's an area where mom could go sit. Everybody we saw seemed happy. They were chatting, smiling, visiting with each other, and waving as they walked up to whoever. It just seemed like a really nice place. It was very clean, with a nice homey atmosphere.

My husband and I were looking for a home for my Dad. He lived in Oregon and we live in California, we came across Sweetbriar by accident. I am so thankful we did! The staff is first rate, from Jill the director , to Lynsie the nurse who always took our calls and kept us informed. We have a blended family so I know they had days they repeated the conversation more than once, but always did willingly and never made us feel like we were hindering them at all. Facility is always clean, most days fresh flowers and the staff was always interacting with their family. I call their residents family because that was how they were treated. My Dad has passed away , but I can't thank Jill and her staff for the wonderful job they did ! When my husband walked through the front door before placing my Dad, he looked at me and said he is home , if I couldn't live at home I would want to live here. So it is with much sadness and heartfelt gratitude that I make my recommendation for Sweetbriar.
