I had relative in this community. I would not recommend this facility to even someone I didn't like. The Executive Director was absolutely appalling to work with and every time we did have to speak with her, it was a horrible experience. She literally had no idea what she was talking about and what came out of her mouth was in an incredibly condescending manner. There was a manager who my loved one and I really liked who was the resident care manager, but she left. Seems like the turnover rate there is very high. The short time we got to work with her, she was very knowledgeable, honest and I appreciated her. The business office person was also horrible to work with, and made you feel like you were annoying her and that she thought you were stupid. Some of the caregivers appear to care, there was a young man that was wonderful and my loved one loved him, but in true form, they leave after such a sort amount of time. This caused stress to my loved one. The food is horrible, and with each new cook, got worse. Definitely would not recommend. Also several of the employees, including community leaders, have very poor hygiene and smell of animal and people urine. If that's how they care for themselves, how is my loved one being taken care of??

I went to Avamere at Oak Park. It's a beautiful place, the staff is friendly, and personable. The apartment was adequate, and exactly what my mom would need if she decides to move in. The courtyard is pretty, the lobby is nice, nicely appointed.

We liked Oak Park by Bonaventure because there were a lot of people moving around and talking to each other. They were out there, not inside their rooms. The rooms were clean, but a little dated. There wasn’t a lot of nature and walking areas outside. It was in the middle of a lot of business establishments.

We went to Oak Park by Bonaventure. It was OK, but not as friendly as where we are. It was also not within our budget. We didn’t really look very much, but it was OK.

My mom is in Oak Park. The staff seems to be good. They are very helpful to my mom. She is in a one-bedroom room, and it is fine. It is probably 600 or 500 square feet. They are actually known for their dining facility. They have pretty good food from what I am hearing. So, far our experience has been very good. We don't have any complaints at this point. They do activities. They took them to the safari one day, and they go out for lunch. They have exercise programs and different programs, but she hasn't been too involved yet.

My 89 year-old mom has been in Oak Park now for two years. She didn't want to go because she had been living independently on my brother's ranch. He didn't want to be responsible for her any more, so we chose Oak Park. The staff have been great at getting her settled and integrated. And they have been really good about checking on mom, and responding quickly when we call with any concerns. All the residents complain somewhat about the food, which in my experience of sharing meals with mom, has been pretty good, but not great. I think they must have difficulty getting and retaining good cooks. For people living in these circumstances, good food can be the high point of the day.
