The apartments in Westmoreland Union were 1 1/2 times bigger than the other place I visited. It's a lovely facility with a creek running through. We have orchards, grape vineyards and garden plots for residents who are able to take care of them. It has very extensive grounds.

The apartment is just great. Wish AC units were maintained, they stink of mold and many are complaining. Maintenance will first blame you for whatever any issue is. The laundry area looks nice and clean but the machines are filthy inside and never cleaned properly. Run a washer full of water and look inside to see gray sudsy stinky water. Remove your clean wash and take a sniff and it is moldy smelling, sometimes full of hair. These machines are used to clean up after bed bug infestations, the beautician who leaves the machines full of hair, People who are nursing seeping wounds, incontinence, old sick dogs, these machines need to be cleaned inside. The halls are carpeted and residents act like they are filthy backstreets dragging leaking greasy bags to the garbage chute. Some staff is great but most do not want to help you or hear from you. The little store is stocked well and many here never go out instead using it to buy all needs from. The pandemic has been handled well here and immediate steps were taken to get us all vaccinated asap. There is a huge issue with homeless people setting up right across the street from us taking up most of the west side of 23rd. There is constant racket from partying, generators running and many residents are now missing catalytic converters and whatever else is not welded down. If you live on the East side of the building there is constant racket from the trains running while parked all day and night for days. Also the highway is very noisy. The gardens and orchard are nice, we have fresh fruit in the fall and there is always help needed to maintain the gardens if you like.

I have just accepted an apartment here and will move in a few weeks. I love the apartment, very small but 2 big closets and NO CARPET and that is a big plus for me! And the big west windows and little lanai are so nice. There are new mini blinds, AC and fresh paint, I think I will be very happy there. I talked to many folks there and not one was unhappy. The traffic is noisy sure but it is everywhere here. I have a multiple chemical sensitivity that is very bad and to my surprise even with them putting down new carpet in the downstairs area I had no reaction at all. The laundry room is on the first floor only and has 10 W/D for 1.00 each, the room is nice and big and has 1 front loader and also an iron and ironing board. The laundry room is open very late too I will be the night owl laundry gal. No air fresheners anywhere, gotta love that. There are 2 elevators right in the lobby. I think management handled my 1 zillion questions very well and I am not shy about asking. I liked all the residents I met and most are older than I am. I don't have to like everybody and visa versa but the overall attitude of folks there was positive and I think this may be the best thing I have done for myself in years.

This building has many problems. At the moment, it is under renovation, but renovation won't solve the problems. The east side of this building (half the apartments) is within a hundred yards of a major highway (4 lanes, speeds of 65 on average) and within 200 yards of the Union Pacific double rails and a busy train route. The noise and pollution are literally off the charts. I don't know why HUD and the EPA allow this facility to operate. There is no ventilation for the apartments except opening windows. The tiny HVACs in the renovated apartments do not supply fresh air, only recirculate the air. Seniors are extremely vulnerable to conditions like this and people who live here seem to have a lot of health problems AFTER they live there awhile. Street lights out making the area unsafe and management claims they can't do anything. In fact, my asking around I found that residents are afraid to offend the management because most of them are subsidized by HUD and HUD doesn't seem to protect their welfare or rights, so they seem to feel hopeless.

Westmoreland's Union Manor was very interesting and looked very good. There was a deck outside where the visitors could sit. There were laundry facilities in every floor. The staff and residents seemed friendly. They had lunch program except on Thursdays and Fridays. And every once in awhile the family went to visit.

I visited Westmoreland's Union Manor and it was a big facility. The staff were really nice when I went there. The waiting period to get in was one year. It was a six or eight story tall building and it was by the river, but it was not quite what I wanted.
