The wonderful thing about Willamette Lutheran is how truly caring their staff are. They help residents feel welcome and at home. My mother-in-law lived there 4 years and she loved everything about her home. It is a very personal place, both staff and residents are so friendly.

Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community is a local, non-profit active retirement living community, within an atmosphere of Christian living, provides services that meet the physical, social, psychological and spiritual need of each resident, contributing to the maximization of each person’s health, security and happiness.
Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community has been serving seniors in the Salem/Keizer area since 1962. As a non-profit community, our surplus is put back into our campus to enhance the lives of those who live in our community. We require no buy-in, just a month-to-month rental.
At Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community, we have a variety of apartments to fit your needs. From studios, to one-bedroom apartments, to our spacious two-bedroom cottages — we have something for everyone.
WLRC is situated on 42 private, peaceful, and carefully tended acres on a North Keizer bluff. In a park-like setting, where wildlife is still visible, we offer acres of beautifully landscaped grounds surrounded by fruit trees, berry bushes, grapevines, a variety of roses and other flowers for you to enjoy, and private gardens for your use, and everything is reachable by paved walking trails.

I liked Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community very much. It was not fancy and modern, but it felt very homey and nice. I liked the variety. They had many acres of property. They had opportunities to garden, and they had walking paths, exercise rooms, and a free laundry room. They had all kinds of activities. I liked the fact that it was small and it had a very country feeling.

Unbelievably caring staff from administrators to office to dining to medical. All were kind and helpful towards my mom and other residents. All staff were always competent and polite. Couldn’t have asked for more – especially for the price.

We went and looked at Willamette Lutheran Retirement. The staff was super great. But the facility needed some updating. It was pretty old like they had dark pink carpet like back in the old days. The furniture was dated. Maybe some people would find that comforting, but my parents did not love that. The outside of the facility was beautiful. It was out in the country, and there was a big lake there. There was also a woodworking shop for the guys. There were a lot of pros to it, and it was affordable. It was one of the lower-priced places. However, we did not love the apartments. They did weird things in their apartments. For a two-bedroom apartment, they hooked three studios together, so you just had three rooms with three bathrooms. It was a really weird setup. They said they had lots of activities. We saw a little group of girls in the kitchen having a little meeting. One thing we did not like about it is that for dining they said that they change who you sit with every day. It was like restaurant dining but when you come in, you don't get to sit where you want. You come in and they sit you somewhere and then they sit somebody with you. They assigned seats, and we didn't like that. We thought if you meet somebody that you clicked with, you want to be able to sit and eat with them or maybe not eat with anybody at all if you want to. We tried their food, though, and it was very good.

The apartments at Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community were small, but they had 12 cottages that were larger and had a garage for your car. They were very nice (although there's a long waiting list). It's a large complex. They had a bus that would take you to church services if you like (they have church services on site as well) or to your doctor appointments. They had the main dining room and everyone eats in there.

Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community was great. My mother-in-law loved it. The atmosphere was extremely friendly and welcoming. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and very patient. They have games, they would take the residents to places, they have exercise classes, guest speakers, and a huge nice library. Their menu looked wonderful, too.

My mother has been living here for ten years. She moved from an independent cottage with one meal a day and biweekly cleaning into a two plus rooms in the main facility with three meals per day, weekly cleaning and free cable. There are many recurring activities plus special activities that change each month. Both staff and residents are friendly and cheerful. The setting is particularly parklike. Best of all: no buy in and nonprofit.

Willamette is a very nice facility and it's in a quiet location. They met my needs. The staff I met there there were very nice and helpful, they answered all of my questions and I was satisfied with that. The grounds were wonderful and they have a lot going for them. The apartments are comparable to those I've seen from other places.

Lutheran is really very nice, and I’ve had friends who have family there. I found it darker inside, though. The food is fine. I was impressed by the friendly, and caring staff. They have a lot of activities there.

We visited Willamette Lutheran Retirement. It was an older place, but it also had a nice community feel to it and nicely kept up. The people who were living there were very happy and I didn't see that in any other communities. The people living there had been there for many years -- one of them had been there for 20 years and she loved it. That said good things for people who ran it. The room was like a one-bedroom with kitchenette, a living space and a bathroom. Most of them had a sliding glass door on to a small patio area, which was a big plus. They had garden space and they could grow vegetables. We showed up quite unexpectedly. It was close to their going home time as it was almost five o'clock, but the staff was very helpful and made time for us. We didn't eat there, but the food looked good and their dining room looked nice.
