My mother is in Clay Gardens Place. It's excellent. She has a private room. They take care of all of her needs. They do her laundry and her housekeeping. They take care of her medications and prepare all of her meals. The people are great. I haven't had any trouble with any of them. The food is good. I've been staying here for a couple of weeks with her because she was ill. They don't provide 24-hour care. We're looking for nursing or memory care, and they don't provide that care here. We are responsible for setting up her prescriptions and stuff, but they take care of making sure that she gets all of her medication on time. They deliver her meals to her room. They have exercise facilities, and they have a courtyard in between the buildings that is secure so that nobody can get in without checking in. The residents can't get out of the secured area. They've recently upgraded and hired more staff. Everything seems to be in order and works fine. I just got a new calendar for all their activities. The value for money is more than acceptable for what they provide.

My mom stayed at Clay Gardens Place for 1 month, and it was a very nice place. It had activities and all that good stuff from church. They had a full list of things they did every day. They had milkshake days, movie days, and game days. The staff was very nice. The food was great. They had salmon and fish, which I thought was very good. There was a fireplace, and they had a nice dining room.

Clay Gardens Place's rooms were spacious, roomy, and clean. The place is a little smaller, but it was nice. The dining room was roomy, open, and had nice tablecloths on the table. The staff was super nice. They have a puppy, which was running around, and it was really cute. The building was nice, but it was a little bit more walking for residents since it wasn't a straight shot to the rooms. Instead you have to walk around. The people had stuff decorating the outside of their apartments. They have a nice garden area with a grill where people can come with their families.

Navigating care for an aging parent is super hard. My mom requires care that my sisters and I can’t provide in our homes, so 5 years ago we entered the senior care world. We were naive and clueless. Sadly, many assisted living/nursing home leaders put profit over people. Over time we are learning what questions to ask and how to navigate our way through Medicare, VA grants, care levels, etc. In the midst of the messy, we have found incredibly amazing allies in the team at Clay Gardens Place. Of the various places mom has lived in Louisville and here, the Clay Gardens team has been the most caring, compassionate and considerate group of administrators, aids, nurses, food service personnel, etc. for my mom. In the almost 2 years she has lived there, I felt like they really cared for her, but to be honest, I’ve been hesitant to believe it because of experiencing insincerity at other places. But over the past few months we’ve had to navigate new challenges and I have been happily surprised by the personal attention they have given our family to make sure my mom is cared for respectfully and affordably. If she can’t be on Ramona Lane (the place she lived for 52 years), I’m glad she has this special place to call “home."

I used them for respite care for two weeks. My mom has been there before. The staff was very good, and they took care of her.
