It’s a pleasure to give the highest possible recommendation to Danbury Senior Living in Wooster, Ohio. My mother, who is 97, has been a resident there for a year, and the living environment, excellent care, and general sense of being a home-like environment, have more than exceeded our expectations. To begin with, upon entering Danbury’s beautiful building, people are greeted with bright, sunny, well-furnished community rooms and corridors. The community rooms where residents dine, sit together in living rooms, or enjoy special events in The Bistro, are designed to created a real sense of community. The corridors are spacious and welcoming, and they’re comfortable spots where patients and families can stop to chat and visit, much the way they would when they see friends in a neighborhood. There are a variety of apartments, so that residents can choose the space and the number of rooms they need in order to be at home. My mother lives in a lovely studio, with an L-shaped entryway and kitchenette, and a living area that accommodates a dining room table, desk, sofa and chairs, as well as twin bed and dresser. Most beautiful is the wide window in her apartment, positioned so my mother can enjoy the seasonal changes of the abutting gardens, and the bird life flitting among the tree and shrubs. However, it’s not just the beauty and comfort of the spaces that makes Danbury special. It’s the compassionate and excellent care my mother receives from all the staff. The staff members make a point of reaching out to each and every resident, learning about their needs, their lives in general, and finding ways to help them feel at home. For example, when I’m visiting my mother there have been staff members who tell me they enjoy when Mom talks about her childhood home and stories she cherishes. Mom feels “seen” and valued by such aides and nurses. Mom is treated expertly, with respect, and warmth. Recently we planned a birthday open house for my mother at Danbury’s Bistro. The aides and social coordinators set up the room with festive table cloths and paper goods, as well as a variety of ice creams. After I brought in the cake I was free to mingle with Mom’s friends, and to help Mom simply enjoy the celebration. Many visitors commented on how welcoming the place seemed. Often when I call to speak with my mother, the aides tell me she’s at exercise class, or game time, or just walking to the atrium to view the birds. My mother enjoys the activities and the people. She loves to tell me about a new friend she visits daily when she’s walking, so that they can share poems they recall. Even during difficult moments — medical events or other periods of need — the staff is outstanding. They communicate regularly, and they’re excellent at managing difficulties in a consultative manner with me and with Mom’s doctors. In short, I know that residents who live at Danbury, and their families who need to trust their care to Danbury, experience a beautiful, comfortable, and caring home during a period which would otherwise be challenging. I’m grateful for Danbury Senior Living, and I offer my strongest recommendation.

Danbury Wooster looked like they had a good meal program. They also had housekeeping, transportation, and lots of social activities. So, if you want to be around people, you can. If you don't, you don't need to be. They have a lot going on there and I was quite impressed. I think they had a movie theater and a beauty salon/barber. Amber and Brad were very friendly and very helpful. I liked them. The meal I had wasn't great. It was a salad. It's never been one of my favorites so I didn't care for that, but I'm sure they have plenty of offerings that I would like.

My mother in law has been a resident at Wooster Danbury for 5 years. The staff is AMAZING! From the front desk to the nursing and dietary, they are the best. Everyone is smiling and helpful. They take great care of my MIL, which some days can be quite the struggle. The facility is always clean and well decorated. There is never any unpleasant smells. We are very happy with Danbury.

They take wonderful care of my mom. Rooms are kept nice and the activities are appropriate. I would definitely recommend it to others. The executive director, I believe her name is Leslie, always takes time to talk with us when we visit. The nurses are all very caring as well.

The rooms are well decorated and very clean. The food is fabulous! This is not our first experience with a care facility and the staff is top notch and food is very high quality. As a caregiver we noticed these qualities from the start. My family highly recommends.

Mom transitioned into memory care at the beginning of this year at after several years in independent living at Danbury Wooster. The Wooster leadership team told us when she first moved in that they want to help their residents be able to age in place and they have stayed true to their word. Danbury became “home” for Mom, as she became familiar and comfortable with her surroundings, the staff and other residents. The team in the memory care unit have been extremely helpful, easy to connect with for updates when I’m there, and I can see their care and compassion in action. The nursing staff throughout the Wooster facility have been fantastic with Mom and make themselves available when we have questions or need additional information. The staff members are courteous and attentive to the residents. The facility is in great shape, clean and well maintained. For Mom’s needs, physical, social, emotional, Danbury has been the right place at the right time.

My wife has been a resident of Danbury Wooster’s Memory Care Unit for almost two years. This review describes my experience. The “face” of Danbury are the “aides.” They will come to know your loved one and will quickly learn how to relate to them. Learn aides’ names quickly but remember that their time with your loved one is determined by their work schedule. In other words, there are three shifts, and the aides rotate, so you’ll learn a lot of names. The more the aides know you, the better they can relate to your loved one. Occasionally, I’m overwhelmed when we pass staff in the hallways, staff I don’t know, and they speak to my wife using her name! Considering both the number of residents and staff that is really impressive. Aides are very well trained, and they have “on-the-job” training sessions as well. They are your best source of information. Don’t hesitate to ask questions. When one aide doesn’t know the answer, time after time, they have returned with a response. Remember, that whatever is done for a resident makes it into the “chart” (a personalized record of resident’s daily events). If you want to know what your loved one did yesterday, it’s been recorded. You only have to ask. Once an aide comes to know your concerns , they can begin to anticipate your concerns and give you details of what happens when you are not there.

Our mother has been living at Danbury Wooster for 6 years and enjoying all aspects of her experience. Facilites are nicely planned, well maintained and very clean. The meals are first-rate, with numerous options for each meal. Daily activities for the residents are quite diverse and numerous, offering something for everyone. Various games, ice cream and desert socials, arts and crafts, movies, music presentations, visits to local shops, numerous Holiday and Event celebrations are just a few. What really makes Danbury Wooster so special is the dedicated and caring staff who take pride in making every day delightful for their residents. Knowing the names of the residents, assuring they are well cared for and assisting them whenever needed are excellent examples of this staff's dedication.

Danbury is a wonderful place for my husband to be. Everyone is so friendly and I know my husband is getting wonderful care in memory care. The rooms are kept so clean. The staff really care about patients and the families too. My husband tells me how much he enjoys the food. They take such personal care and really know likes and dislikes of each patient. We visited three other facilities and Danbury was definitely the best and the atmosphere is as close to home as possible. I go see him every day and I get a smile and pleasant greeting from all staff. As I walk in the door someone usually tells me how my husbands day is going and what he had for meals and how much he ate. Staff know each patient very well. I just know he is getting excellent care. Everyone at Danbury seems to like working there. Such a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you for providing a home for my husband that I can relax and know Danbury is helping me give the best care for him.

My father-in-law is currently a resident at Danbury-Wooster. He has enjoyed the bus outings and the staff is very caring and we know they are doing the very best for him. He enjoys visiting with the other residents in the commons area and loves sitting outside when the weather is nice. I am confident that if we call with a concern or need for him, they will check on him and get back to us. We are very pleased with the care he receives there. The only thing he complains about once in a while is the food,

My mother was a resident at Danbury in both the assisted living and memory care facilities. The staff was remarkable in helping my mother to transition to memory care. Once there, she was consistently treated with respect and continuing care. The rooms are comfortable, and open to decorations of familiar items to help with a sense of familiarity. Most importantly, family and friends are always welcome, and the unit is always open to visitors. Residents participate in activities that correspond to their abilities. The activities very, but are always focused on a therapeutic approach. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but it is comparable to other facilities.

My mother and my aunt are residents at Danbury. They both really enjoy living there. We moved them in over a year ago. They have no complaints about the food (and really look forward to some of their regular meals!), they love their nurses, and they feel comfortable in every way. We all receive quick and responsive attention to any concerns. Rachel was simply fantastic with our on boarding process, Leslie made us all feel secure in our difficult decision of providing care for our mothers, and Sandy is consistent and helpful to us in every manner. We, as family members, find the atmosphere within Danbury to be truly the best of any retirement community around!

My mom is at Wooster Danbury. I think the community provided a lot of amenities, which was one of the reasons that we initially thought that it would be a good placement for my mom. The fact that they have planned activities and places to go within the facility was really nice. They have a theater, media room, an exercise room, a community room -- which also provides services on Sunday -- a salon, a couple different dining rooms, a bistro, evening events, and bingo. If the residents are unable to get to a certain activity, they will make sure that someone will come and take them to that activity. My mom gained four pounds. She likes the food. They have two different dining areas. If your mom is talkative or prefers a quieter table, they take that into account when deciding where it might be nice to be able to eat most of the time. They take an interest in the person. They have at least two outside areas where they can go, like a courtyard. They also have different porch areas. There's a place to sit there as well. They also do outside trips. They have the ability to also leave the facility and do things in the community. The facility is very clean. They also have fish and birds. They have programs like the therapy dog. They did a good job of trying to create a homelike environment. They put a calendar out every month. They also provide a daily newspaper called The Daily Chronicle about things that are happening, or about individuals that are there.

We're moving my mother-in-law to Wooster Danbury. We like the size and the design of the room and how it was laid out. She's going in assisted living. I like the cleanliness and the amenities that they have there. The staff was very good. They seemed to care and make it easy for the family. I haven't tried the food yet, but when we were there, it smelled really good. They had a courtyard, a salon, library, movie theater, and a workout room. It's near hospitals and a few restaurants. It's in a pretty nice central location of town. What we're getting for her is like a two-room suite, so she'll have a bedroom, living room, small kitchenette, and a bathroom. When we were there, we saw residents out and about and talking to each other, and visiting with each other.

My relative is here. They have been really nice to work with. Everyone that works there has been great. The move went really smooth. A local mover came to the house and took everything and the maintenance people at Danbury set everything up. She was able to move into a room, and it's been really nice. Even though family can't go to her room because of COVID, the staff has stepped up to be there to help her with a lot of things that normally the family would do. They have done a really nice job. They have a variety of rooms. They have two-bedrooms, obe-bedrooms, and studios available, and she chose a studio because she has mobility issues. She needs less space to move around, and it's better for her. They have advised that they have their library open for the residents to go in, and they're back to allowing the residents to leave their room to go to the dining room for their meals, but they do it in a staggered fashion. She told me that she has someone else at her table, but they still are seated six feet apart. They have a courtyard. I have driven past it, and it's beautiful. I was allowed to go inside at the front door and go to the business office. Under the conditions, they've done very well. I had a friend who lived there for several years, and I thoroughly enjoyed going to the facility to visit her back in the day. It always felt warmth and cozy, just like home when you go in there.

My mother has been in Danbury for almost a year and a half now. She loves the food, people and staff. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are willing to help with just about anything with a kind smile. The staff has bent over backwards to help my mom come back to her apartment after breaking her ankle. We have been extremely happy with how they treat my mother.

It was beautiful and the people there were very nice. They have a very good calendar of events. They have musical entertainment, sewing and crafts, Bingo, and day trips to different places. They serve three meals a day plus snacks. They have exercise every day, massages, and a beauty shop.

I think it is a wonderful place to be, but it was out of our area, and we thought John might need more care. We only toured it. What we saw, we were very impressed with. The rooms look very nice. You furnish your own room so the rooms are furnished to your own satisfaction. They were not huge, but they were OK. The activities looked very good. I was impressed.

It is a nice, clean, and new facility. We were invited to lunch through our friend who is a resident there. They had set up a private dining area for us which was very nice. My friend gets good care at this facility. Her room is a little small but private. She is happy. It is a lovely place. The staff was personable.
