My husband is currently in Heartland of Twinsburg. He had been there before, and they have a handful of nurses and aides that are fantastic, but the rest of them just sit around and do nothing. It is like any nursing home nowadays; they are so understaffed that the staff that they do have for the most part don’t really care. This time, he is basically there on ‘respite’ type scenario. He is bedridden and a very difficult patient because he doesn’t want to take his meds, he doesn’t want to do this, and he doesn’t want to do that. I am sure they did what they could at this point, and there were a couple of nurses on that floor that were fantastic in trying to get him to take his meds. So there isn’t a whole lot for them to do at this point. They need more qualified aides. They probably have 1 aide for 15 rooms or something like that. It is just understaffed and under qualified.
