My mother in law was there for about a month suffering from ALS. She had a nurse named Bill who was very attentive, caring , and treated her like family. There were some wonderful aides as well such as Kim. The facility was clean and easy to work with and I would recommend to other family and friends .

My mother was discharged from this facility with nothing in place for her home caregiver, home health care was not notified. Needed medical supplies were not ordered. Her feeding tube supplies were not ordered. Basically I was left to do their jobs. I struggled through the system to provide my mother with her medical needs. Unexceptionable

My mother was sent there for rehabilitation. They treated her as though she was there for hospice or palliative care. When I stopped in one evening and became concerned about your condition, they asked me to leave. Had I not have showed up and told them to call the paramedic or I will, she would not be here with us now. The staff was very nonchalant. I would not recommend sending your loved one there.

I was recently a resident in Heather Knoll. I was happy with the care that I received there. The staff were considerate and helpful. The facility is clean and provides a pleasant environment. I had a private room with a nice view. I received PT and OT while I was there and the staff were very professional, I made a lot of progress. There are daily activities for the residents, including occasional field trips. They have nice areas where you can be outside. I was a little worried going in as I have heard stories of facilities that were no so great. But I highly recommend Heather Knoll.

Heather Knoll really went above and beyond for my close friend. He was there following surgery for his knee in February. The nurses were kind and caring and always made sure he had his pain medicine. He never missed a follow up appointment and always had transportation. Therapy got him into shape quick and back home to his life. When he did not like the meals offered, he was given alternate choices. All of the staff from every department seemed to get to know him and his wishes. We will always use Heather Knoll for our family. They truly go above and beyond.

I am in the Health Care business in Texas, and didn't know what to expect in Akron, Ohio. (Sounds like a Texan, I know). My brother William C. H was a patient in the PT/Rehab section of Heather Knoll, after having been released prematurely from Akron General. Despite his relatively dire condition, the fine folks at Heather Knoll did their best, and the results showed it. They agreed to weekly telephone conferences and updates on his progress and outlook. I am happy to report that I lost a challenge wager to my brother: I bet that he wouldn't be able to make his favorite race in early July--but thanks to aggressive attention to all aspects of his care, he won the wager (as I had hoped, of course). His condition included c-diff, which required him to be isolated from the general population, but Heather Knoll took that in stride and accommodated him even in times of extreme distress and difficulty eating and even moving. I am delighted with his care, and commend the entire staff for their coordinated cooperation and willingness to go the extra mile for a very needy patient. We are in your debt, and I hope this review will put some potential clients and family caregivers at ease in choosing this establishment.

My mom was there for almost two years. There are several staff members who care about the patients/residents. But in the past I feel the facility has been understaffed causing the aides to sometimes work 2 wings by themselves. The food served is very good in comparison. The pt department is knowledgeable, caring and good with the patients. With that though my mom fell several times, at least 3 times hitting the back of her head, other times bad skin tears, pulling muscles in her legs, etc. Her wedding rings stolen (police report filled out) but never found. And in the end when my mom was in the process of dying they never called me. I highly recommend visit often and maintain a journal no matter what nursing facility you select. Our family visited daily and I did keep a detailed journal including photos when needed.

The physical therapy at Heather Knoll Nursing & Rehabilitation Center was OK. The food was decent. The people that I’ve seen were very nice, and the place was very nice, too. I was there quite often and thought they were disorganized. One of the nurses came out because she had seen my father get up, and it scared him. He was upset for two days because in his eyes, she attacked him, but she thought he was going to fall, so there were a lot of miscommunications. He was supposed to be on liquids or sauce in foods, but one day his food was thickened, and one day it wasn’t.
