I moved into Westwood Place Apartments. It's been fine. There are a lot of people that are handicapped here. There's a continental breakfast Monday through Friday. They do a lot of things. They have a lot of lunches. They have a happy hour every Friday where they have pizza and serve drinks. They do a lot of games and things to keep people mingling with each other and usually each floor has someone that volunteers to be like the monitor. They have a sign you can put on your door at night saying that you're OK, so they do check on you, but it's independent living. You can be as involved or uninvolved as you like. The rooms are very nice, but not huge. It's good for older people. A lot of people don't cook, but the senior center here provides meals Monday through Friday for $6.50 a meal or $127 a month (five days a week). There's a pizza place that comes in a couple of times a month and brings in small pizzas. There's a chicken place that comes in a couple of times a month, too, and you can order different dinners from them. They do quite a bit to try to help seniors even though it's independent living. There's a beauty salon here. They have one person that does entertainment. They have art classes and different things. There's quite a bit that you can do and not do depending on what you want. The staff is very helpful and very nice. It's very clean and they keep up with the maintenance of everything. They come right away if you call, but if it's a non-emergency, if it's in the evening or on the weekends, they usually come within a day or two. The two maintenance people live in the building. All of your utilities except for internet and telephone are included in the rental price per month.

We are living in Westwood Place in a 550-square foot one-bedroom apartment with a walk-in shower. It is sufficient for what we need. There are a lot of activities, but I really have not been able to go to many of them because my husband was in the hospital two days after we moved in. Three times a week, the senior center provides meals which you have to pay for at $6 a meal, but it includes the salad, the main course and a dessert, which I think is very reasonable. The meals I have had so far were delicious. It is actually right next to the police station just off the square, and we can actually see the Christmas lights on the square from my apartment. The fire department is right behind the building, and they do have pull cord here that if something happens and you have an emergency, you pull the cord and the fire department will be here within minutes. Even if I have to call the fire department to come get my husband, they are here very quickly. The staff is excellent because they actually hold my meals for me because I have been in the hospital with my husband every day and the meal does not get delivered until 12:30. I am able to pick the meals up the next morning, and I put them in the freezer because I have been having lunch and dinner with my husband at the hospital. I am very pleased. They have sprinklers throughout the apartment.
