My father is now in Altercare Post-Acute. It's a standard kind of place. There is a room with two people in it. They have a dining room, too. The staff is professional. They do their job and it's 'here's what I need to do,' and they do it. They're pretty much helpful. They have activities, but they're pretty much cookie-cutter, too. There are movies, some games, and poker nights. There's not a lot of heavy-duty stuff, but they have a list of people to interact with.

My friend was in Altercare Kent for two weeks in November 2022. My friend is not the most compliant patient and he was in some pain most of the time there which makes most of us grumpy. The staff was friendly and positive even under these challenging circumstances. The facility is fairly new, it is very clean and I never detected that awful urine smell found in so many facilities.

I wouldn’t even give this facility A 1star rating! From the director who was rude crass and just a foul person. All she cared about was how they were getting paid. Told me no restrooms available for visitors and to plan your visits accordingly. Said you can visit 24 hours a day however both days when I showed up no one at desk to open secured doors you just have to wait until a staff member walks by. Food or what they give for food is disgusting and they encourage you to bring food in to your loved one. Call lights go unanswered for over 30 min routinely, rn’s sit at the desk and only pass meds and incorrect ones at that! My loved one was on a lot of meds some of which had to be given at specific times. Upon arrival I proactively went to the nurse to be sure they were aware they were aware of this. Told they didn’t have those meds and it would be 3-4 hours before they could get them! When I told them that was unacceptable and I would go get the meds at home and bring them in she said she had to get permission from the on call doctor…. Finally got that straightened out to find out they were over medicating and when I showed them the hospital discharge papers given to them where it clearly stated to back off a medication if patient was sedated I was told that since my relative could be woken up to take the meds they weren’t sedated. Apparently sleeping 23 hours a day doesn’t mean sedated to them! I also found out they were giving 1/2 the prescribed dosage of another medication. I tried being nice at first but after two days of what was expected to be a 2-3 week stay i told them to get the discharge papers ready I was taking her out of there. They tried telling me it was against medical advice ha! What a joke. Against medical advice from an RN? There was no doctor that saw her the two days she was there. Run as far away from this facility as you can!

Arrived on Friday and father needed PT and promised it was scheduled for next day. It was not performed and no staff on weekends to call PT. He also sat in wheelchair for 4 hours before they answered call to use lift to get him back to bed. This was supposed to be 5 star facility per Summa and I would never have sent him here if I had known the low rating of 2 .9 and no staff or reliable physical therapy!

Unbelievable how the 3-11 cna’s can just leave patients lay in soiled clothes and bedding and god forbid you ask them to do there jobs , the nurses in charge should be fired for not holding the staff accountable, horrible place, very dirty and uncaring staff

If I’m being honest I would NEVER AGAIN send a loved one to this place!!! Call lights weren’t answered, nurses were snotty, and medical monitoring is so lacks it could have cost a life. I could not be more serious!!! If you think calls to management would help... Think again.. If your loved one has health issues that require assistance this is not the place for them. If I could give less than 1 star I would.
Not a good Facility

We found the room to have dirty floors and furniture that had stains of some type that would scrub off. Most of the nursing staff seemed to be very uncaring and did not have time for checking on my mother. Call lights unanswered for long periods of time. The positive side was the physical therapy and O.T....they were very professional. I would never recommend this facility!

The facility is modern, clean, and nice with wide hallways. They have a rehab center, and the patients are well taken care of. The staff are very friendly and meet all my mother-in-law's needs. She has been there for two-and-a-half months now. They have crafts, church service, speakers, and singing. Altercare has everything she needs.
