Heartland of Jackson has an excellent rehab program. My mother-in-law enjoys their activity program and she has gone out on a lot of outings. The ability for her to stay involved in the community is good. The personality and the personal touch of the staff have been great. I personally haven't eaten with her there, but my mother-in-law likes their food. She eats very well. I was there yesterday when they served lunch and it looked very good.

Heartland is probably 15 miles at most from our house. That's nice because it is very close and that's very convenient for us. My husband and I both used this nursing facility for rehab. This facility didn't have a homey feeling to it. They only had a television and a few chairs in their lobby and that's that. Food wasn't too bad; however, it was hard when you have to go some place else and you're used to your own homecooking. Regarding the staff, some of them were okay and some weren't. Also they only had two girls per hall. Considering that there were about 20 or more patients per hall, these girls were unable to accommodate every patient's need. They tried to get to you as quickly as they could, and I'm not saying they're not nice, but they didn't have enough help for the amount of patients that they have. Obviously, they could do better with more staff.

During my first marriage , my wife's grandfather's health worsened, and he was a resident at Heartland of Jackson for a time. I had never visited this facility before, and I was very pleased with how it was kept, and how the residents were cared for. Courteous and polite to a fault, the staff were always eager to accommodate both residents and visitors. The halls were clean and clutter free, the only real traffic being those who were busy about their work. My wife's grandfather wasn't fond of the accommodations, mainly because he wasn't fond of being there in the first place. But he agreed that if he had to be in such a place, that was about as good as any he had seen. The residents' rooms were kept very clean, like they had just moved in. We took him outside in his wheelchair for a stroll around the grounds, which were VERY neatly kept. Overall, if there's anyone I know in need of this type of care, I would definitely reccommend Heartland of Jackson.
