My mom has moved into Brookdale Muirfield. It's assisted living with a nurse. We chose them because primarily we were able to work out a price arrangement that fit into her budget. It is a very nice community and it's close to our home. My mom is kind of picky with food, so she might not be crazy about it, but the staff is very friendly and attentive. In my experience, they're doing a lot with her. There are daily activities, and the staff seems very nice. The layout of the facility is very nice. There's a nice center lobby area where people can congregate and there's a nice courtyard as well, so my mom can be outside. They're the two things that she likes the most.

I like the feel of Brookdale Muirfield. The staff I met seemed very nice. I really liked the patio area that residents are allowed to go out to. Regarding amenities, they're all comparable to what I was looking at over where my mom is at right now. There's a garden area, and a beauty salon, and all that. They have activities for them. The biggest thing is they keep the residents busy every day. The staff who gave the tour was very trustworthy and very friendly. They explained everything really well. The best thing about this community is all the activities they had, and that outdoor space that the residents were allowed to go into on their own.

The staff at Brookdale Muirfield seemed very attentive to the patient's problems or needs. We talked to a couple of people who work there, and they seemed involved in the patients' care, which is nice. The prices were just a little high. The staff was great. They took care of all our questions and showed us what we wanted to see. It was very clean. We got to tour a room, and it seemed like they took care of the place well. It seemed like it mattered to them. You stepped into a lobby and there were assisted living people walking back and forth. They were talking. It seemed like a happy atmosphere when we walked in and everybody was attentive to our needs.

I visited Brookdale Muirfield. I thought it was very nice. I thought the staff was very good. The room that we saw was nice. It was a studio. I didn't like the feel of it quite as well as the other place I toured, but their amenities were quite nice and very well-maintained. They have bingo. They have TVs for football. There was a hair salon. The thing I didn't like as much was that it was a two-storey building. It felt awkward with the elevator. It didn't seem as homey. They have an outdoor patio area. I really liked the lady that we spoke with there.

I toured Brookdale Muirfield and I liked that the manager was willing to work with me. She was extremely friendly and very accommodating. She even came up with a couple of suggestions that I haven't thought of. They have an activity room where I could see all kinds of accessories that they use, like paint, papers and stuff like that. The apartments appeared to be very spacious. The one she showed me was a studio assisted living room that had a very large closet and a suite bathroom. She said I could bring a mini fridge and mini microwave if we wanted to.

I liked the outside appearance of Brookdale Muirfield, and when I walked into, it was really nice and clean. The people were very pleasant and the rooms were nice. They had what I needed for my friend, which would be a kitchenette with a sink. She drinks iced coffee and tea, and I wanted her to be able to rinse out her glass without going into the bathroom, and they had that. The pricing was amazing compared to everything else I looked at. So, this would be our choice so far. The tour was handled very well. I was introduced to some of the staff as they were walking through the hallways. I was shown three different types of rooms, and everything was explained to me about the different levels of care, as well as the pricing, and all that. So, everything was pretty clear. They had crafts, church services, games, and all different kinds of stuff. I was in every room and they have quite a bit of stuff going on.

My wife has been a resident of Brookdale Muirfield and it's a very nice community. The nurses and caregivers are very friendly, and she is getting along very well with the other residents. She seems to be less anxious and stress free, so it's all working out pretty well for her. She got a single bedroom with a little sitting area, and a bathroom in the hallway. The daily activities vary, from exercise to games, going to the art room, and to a beauty shop if you want to get your hair done. They do things like that depending upon the level of what they can do. They do a lot of walking outside, but not any of that is going on because of the cold weather. They get three meals a day too, and they manage her meds with my permission. It's pretty nice. They asked me a list of questions of what food she likes, size, and portions for every meal, and what she likes to drink. They accommodated her needs versus just making a one-size fits all meal plan, and it works pretty good. The facility is a little bit older, but the effort is there, and that's important. It's not a top of a line facility, but it's very, very good for what is needed for memory care patients.

Everything is shut down around here with the coronavirus, but Brookdale Muirfield is probably where I'm going to put my wife. They showed us around and it was fine. Everything was good. The staff members were very nice, very helpful, and well informed.

The person running the tour at Brookdale Muirfield was very professional and very good. The place was a bit old, and the rooms were not as bright. They seemed to be very nice. They gave me a bag of cookies which were tremendously delicious. The rooms were more of a studio or single room with a bathroom attached. They seemed to have plenty of activities, and the people I saw seemed to be busy. We looked at a couple of rooms where they were doing stuff.

My mother is now at Brookdale Muirfield. It is OK. It is pretty good. They have some exercise classes, bingo, and football day parties. They go out to lunch every once in a while. Their dining room is clean and well kept. The food seems to be satisfactory. The upfront staff members are friendly. However, they could work on cleaning the room better. The place looks good.

We went to Brookdale Muirfield. The apartment we looked at was too small and there were no amenities. My sister-in-law would have to buy her own little refrigerator and microwave. The staff seemed very friendly and willing to answer questions and explain things. They go on trips to restaurants and to the zoo. They have cards, bridge, and bingo. Everything was very clean, neat, and nicely decorated. The residential dining area was enclosed in a room and had double doors, and there wasn't a lot of space to move around. They offer interesting things for the residents to do.

Brookdale Muirfield is a nice community, but it is assisted living and my mom wanted independent living. Nevertheless, it was a very nice and clean place. I liked the way that they had things set up. Everybody was very polite and nice. If my mom was going into an assisted living community, it definitely would be a place that I would be looking at.

My friend moved into Muirfield a couple of weeks ago. They have single and double rooms that are a pretty good size. I don't think he likes the food there, but it is his personal preference. The treat people very well and do a pretty good job. I think they are reasonably priced.

Average at best, offering few amenities for the price. Nursing staff & Aides for the most part are caring, but usually understaffed meaning residents calls or needs aren't met in a timely manner. The director on location, Kelly, is not friendly and lacks that "personal touch" and a far cry from the previous director, David who knew each resident & family names and always there, constantly smiling and interacting with everyone! Sure miss that!

We were really lucky. The very first place my mother and I visited turned out to be the right place. Brookdale Muirfield was not what I was anticipating. It was like an apartment building or almost like a hotel that was clean, nice, and didn't smell. I’ve listened to them talk to my mother several times without them knowing I'm there, and they are so kind. They have plenty of activities for them to do. I’ve only eaten there a couple of times, and my mother is not a complainer, but the food is pretty good and close to home cooking. They always give the residents two choices and bring out two plates and let them pick visually which one they want to eat. One little woman that was sitting by my mom said, “I’m not really happy with either of those,” and the staff said, “What would you like?” She said, “I really like a grilled cheese sandwich and a bowl of tomato soup.” And they said, “We will make that for you.” When it comes to my time, this is what I’m going to look for. The value, I would say, was very competitive. It’s very good for the money.

Brookdale Muirfield is small enough to feel personal. In fact, the staff has been dedicated to my mother-in-law's needs. We have been able to get a new primary care program, which is something she needed. The therapy team has been very helpful in keeping her independence. My mother-in-law is on the first floor in a studio apartment with everything she needs. The bathroom is just big enough. The apartment has a spacious closet, and she has been able to bring all of her personal items there. The window has a tree right outside. The dining area has tables that I believe sit four to six people. The place has a community feel. They also have a private room if you want to have a private party with family and friends, right off the dining room. They go out on Wednesdays and Saturdays, plus there are a lot of things going on at center. They just had some music last week and a full calendar of events. My mother-in-law has really enjoyed the outings and the social time that it provides.

Brookdale is very nice. The room is very spacious but not large enough for my husband's wheelchair to move around, and includes a living room that we furnished. It has a wood-type flooring, which is best for him as a Parkinson’s patient. The staff is caring with nurses available 24 hours a day, and a doctor and an LPN available once a week. They have a beauty salon, a workout area, a beautiful dining room with fantastic food, and lots of family space for people to sit and have outside parties.

My grandma was in rehab and was suddenly dropped. They told her that she had three days to get out. It was very stressful trying to find a place for her to go because she wasn't allowed to go back to her house. Brookdale Muirfield understood the circumstances and said that they would provide furnishings for a little while until we could have time to get her own furniture. The director is very nice and took the time to show us around and was very caring.

We visited Brookdale Muirfield. First of all, the director who took me around was fantastic. She really worked hard to try to get me in there and try to work all kinds of deals trying to get me the best situation for the best price. She did a really excellent job. The place was clean. It was bright, and it was remodeled. It looked like it was very well-staffed. They had beautiful gardens. It was fresh and clean. It seemed like a really nice homey place. I would absolutely recommend this community to others.

I visited Emerald Crossings. I happened to get there at an inopportune time. They were changing out all of their furnishings and replacing them with new ones. Yet everyone was very kind. They took me around and showed me everything that I wanted to see. Because the old furniture was outside and the new furniture inside hasn't been placed yet, they were most apologetic. I didn't call and ask for reservation to come and see them though. The manager was very kind, and the assistant who took me around everywhere was very knowledgeable.

My mom has moved to Emerald Crossings. We chose this because it's close to where I live, and that would be convenient for me. The staff are very pleasant. The rooms are very nice, but I wish she could have a refrigerator, though. They have activities every day, but she hasn’t really participated that much. She was able to go to a musical event, and she really enjoyed it.

My mother has been a resident for three years. Emerald Crossing is conveniently located to my home and I visit daily. My mother is still pretty independent and mobile and feels secure and content here. Her room is a nice size and comfortable. I feel her needs are being met by the entire staff who are friendly, hard working and helpful. They provide activities for the residents, if they choose to take part. The nursing staff have been excellent and caring toward my mother and have always been very prompt in addressing any questions or issues that I have requested. I feel comfortable that the safety of residents is top notch with staff working well as a team. Ex. Tornado warning procedures. They provide regular get togethers for families. It gives me peace of mind that my mom has no complaints and feels content and secure.

My mother has been there over 1 year and I see her at least 2 or 3 times a week, which provides a wide array of opportunities and variation in times of day to see how the staff interact with patients. She started in the assisted living facility and as her condition has worsened she was moved to the dementia care unit. The facility is clean and well maintained. The care and attention she receives has been excellent. Residents are included in a wide variety of activities - if they choose to participate - and even help plan menus on the assisted living side. Staff are friendly, willing to help, and bend over backwards to care for a difficult set of patients. There are weekly excursions provided to those residents interested in going out both on the assisted living and dementia care sides of the facility. Both sides of the facility provide regular checking on the residents for health and safety. In the dementia care unit the nurses regularly call to provide updates on needed testing and care, or to address issues they see as a potential medical care issue, and are alert enough to observe problems long before they become critical. Activities directors provide activities designed to help maintain the best possible function of the mind for patients with conditions like dementia that are inevitably destined to worsen. Doctors and nursing staff have always been available to discuss patient care. The business office staff and Executive Director are always available to discuss a wide range of issues, and I have seen them all pitch in to help during times when there have been emergencies that inevitably pop-up. Emerald Crossing provides what I consider to be excellent care. I have suggested to other families that they consider touring the facility for their loved ones.

Emerald Crossing is in a pleasant, convenient location. This facility, however, is probably best for someone who is independent and does not require extensive interaction with the staff. My experience with a loved one at this facility was not particularly good.
Provider Response
We were sorry to hear that a family member felt we did not interact enough with one of our residents. The goal of our staff at Emerald Crossings is to ensure that residents receive the assistance they each need while allowing them to live as independently as possible. Emerald Crossings has a Resident Program Director (also known as an Activity Director) along with two full time assistants to engage the residents and ensure they are living an optimum life.

Quantity and quality of staff poor. We pulled mom out when we found red marks on her arms. Enough said.
Provider Response
The safety and well-being of our residents is our first priority and we share their concerns as well as the concerns of their families. Please know that this complaint was investigated by the Ohio Department of Health and the findings were "Emerald Crossings was in compliance with the State of Ohio Rules and Regulations for licensure requirements. No licensure violations were cited in regards to allegations."

My mother lived here for 2.5 years. Understaffed and poorly qualified care providers. Housekeeping was unsanitary and severly lacking. We found feces under dresser, bed, nightstand when we moved.
Provider Response
This is very personal situation and many times everyone involved does not know all of the circumstances. As part of Brookdale's commitment to providing a caring and safe environment for our residents, we do take housekeeping and cleanliness very seriously.

When my father was evaluated for the Assisted Living side he declined rapidly and almost died while there and was put on hospice. I was told that they are able to care from beginning to end but in actuality they do not have enough trained staff to properly care for wheel chair residents with dementia. I moved my father to another facility which he is thriving in and has just gone off of hospice. Emerald Crossing also requires a very large deposit which is not refunded if it is a poor match for the resident.
