My sister moved to Windsor House at St Mary's Alzheimer's Center. The things that we like the most are that they are very well staffed and the staff is extremely understanding of the patients and family. They are friendly and outgoing and try to anticipate what my sister might need. They are attentive to the needs of both the patients and the family. From what I've been told, from my sisters, they provide help for the patients. They're attentive to them in the dining room where they might need their food cut up or a different menu than maybe what they thought they had ordered. It's very clean. The only thing that is at a disadvantage, but this isn't something anybody can help, is the location. My family is in Youngstown, and going to Columbiana is a little bit of a drive, but when a person is in a place where they are well taken care of and safe, that's probably the least of anyone's concerns. The fact that it's clean, orderly, and tuned into patients and their families, I think those are probably the first concerns. My sister reported that there's plenty to do if you want to do it.

Mechanical and medical (over medication) restraint is commonly used in this nursing home to control patients. Some staff have no patience. Not uncommon to find patient wet through their outer layers of clothing. When specific incidents are addressed with management, no action is taken to correct problems. Nearly lost our mother because of over medication and even after it was addressed with staff and management. Was told that it was normal for an individual with Alzeheimers. A month or so later when they final reduced and took most of the medicine away, she was able to walk, talk, and eat again. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. I am not sure how they received such a high medicare rating.

We moved my father from another memory care facility to St. Mary's. The St. Mary's staff is absolutely INCREDIBLE! The facility is very clean, staff is consistently VERY engaged with the residents and very aware of each individual's needs! We moved Pop to St. Mary's because we wanted him to be in a place of high quality, superb care and at a place that offered him the comfort that he so deserved. Little did we know that in his final days- we too would find those things offered to us at St. Mary's! Even though Pop was only there a few months, he was visited by several staff members to share their goodbyes and to comfort us as well! We can never say "Thank-you" enough to this incredible staff for their high level of care, concern and so well understanding the unique needs of memory care patients! We are forever grateful to St. Mary's staff for caring for our father and for caring for us! After seeing many other memory care facilities- this by far is the BEST memory care facility that I have ever visited! If you want the best for your loved one who needs residential memory care- St. Mary's is where you need to start your visit. There are very few other facilities in the Ohio, PA area that can compare to their quality of care!

St Mary’s is pretty much the Cadillac of care centers. My mother in law was there for five years before she passed away last month. They’re angels and I’ve never had a complaint about anybody in five years. They’re the most loving and caring. Even their office staff helped with the patients. The rooms are excellent and it’s very clean.

I visited St. Mary's in the past year to see my grandmother who is suffering from Alzeimers. As soon as I walked in, I felt the place was very secure and well-staffed with many people. I have to admit the facility seemed a little overcrowded with patients, but the staff was really nice and attended to the needs of the patients well. My grandmother has never been afraid to stay there and has even been making marked improvements over the past few months. They have good activities going on to keep her mentally busy and well maintained during this stage of her life. The only drawback about the place is that it seems a little outdated, like something out of the 1960s. I think this is overshadowed though by the care of the those working at the facility for my grandmother and the improvements she has made over the past few months since March 2011.
