I went to Northgate Park. I like the positioning of the homes where my mom could go outside if she wanted to. I like all the different activities and things they have. I really like the staff, too. They were super friendly. The building was very clean and very nice. I saw their restaurant-style eating area where they order from a menu, and that was nice. I saw the therapy room. It's a little small, but it's nice. I like the family atmosphere that the place has. The facility seems old, but it looks very nice, and I still like that place.

I toured Northgate Park. What I liked best about this place was the look on the people's faces. I wasn't concerned about the aesthetics as much as how the people who were going to be around my brother. I saw people who were struggling with their walkers, but they looked up at me with clear, bright eyes and smiled as big as they could. You could tell that they were in a good place, and I felt like that would be a good place for my brother. At Northgate Park, there are both indoor and outdoor entrances/exits. When you're in the room, you can go outside whenever you want to. I thought that was amazing. It's also good for emergency situations. I would love to have my brother there. The person that toured me was very knowledgeable. I felt like she was helping me the best she could with my situation. I'm very grateful. Jennifer went above and beyond to answer my questions. I didn't try the food, but they said it was prepared by a chef, and the people that were at the restaurant all seemed happy with what they got.

We were very impressed with Northgate Park. It had a very warm and welcoming feel to it. There were fireplaces and comfortable seating. We liked the fact that it was just one level and not several stories. The apartment that the woman showed us was a one-bedroom with a living area. We liked the size of it and we liked the fact that it had a sliding door that went out to a patio where my friend could have a chair to sit in and enjoy a cup of coffee. The grounds were beautiful. It was surrounded by trees. It had a nice residential feel to it. The woman that met with us was very nice and I especially appreciated the way she dealt with my friend. Instead of directing information towards me, she directed it towards my friend which I appreciated, because I think sometimes people tend to go directly to the caregivers and kind of ignore the person that's going to be living there. So, I liked her approach. We had lunch in the facility. So, that was also nice. The residents were very friendly and they talked to us. My friend didn't eat a whole lot, but the lunch was satisfactory. Their dining area was a nice, comfortable feeling. It felt more like a home versus a hotel. The facility was very clean. The place smelled good. It didn't have any bad odors. I think the colors that they had on the wall were pleasant. The furniture looked comfortable. The hallways and the walls were not all nicked up from wheelchairs or anything like that. It was nicely presented. We liked Northgate Park. We liked how it was set up.

Northgate Park is clean. It smells good. The people are very nice. I am not as fond of the nursing staff, at least the director of nursing and so forth, and their food has gone down badly in the past since my family member has been there. When she got there, the food was better and they had to fire the cook or chef. Since then, they haven't found someone to replace the food too well and that's the big issue. Her room is a lot like a motel room. It has a large closet. Every resident has a little patio. That's what I really would hate to leave, but they all have that where they can have flowers. It was painted nicely and fixed up nicely. It does not appear to be a new facility, but the tile in the bathroom is all done nicely. The door closes well. It's nice. It smells good. It has vinyl flooring in the room, which I like. I think it's cleaner. None of the things you need to live are provided. You have to bring your own chest of drawers, your bed and so forth. They have three meals a day. They have access to snacks in between. They have very little fresh fruit. Bananas seem to be the only fresh fruit they ever do. The rest is canned and I don't like that. They have a little kitchen in the room as well. We bought our microwave, but you're not supposed to have any heat-generating appliances other than that, like curling irons and so forth. They have WIFI. They got a new provider recently, and it keeps delaying. You're watching a movie and then you have to wait and she was not too fond of that. Then the recent thing, they're increasing their price to $150 for the base. I kind of feel like I forced her to go on the medicine level. So, I'm looking to one of these devices that says "It's time for your pill!" and drop the pills because it costs an extra $685 a month for them to bring her pills twice a day. The doctor wants her pressure to be watched more and I asked if that's included, they said "I don't know." If you're the director, you have to figure it out. It's a business of making money. There's a menu for everything like what they gave us when she moved in. If you want to take your meal to your room, that's $6. I guess for them to put it on, pack it up, and get it ready to go to your room. They get cleaning services but they do their own laundry. It's not too expensive for what it is. It just depends on what you have. If you can afford $685 a month or you can't.

Northgate Park is a very nice facility, and it is within my price range. I was impressed. I expect it's less because it was affordable. It wasn't ridiculously priced. I wasn't feeling well, so I didn't get to take the whole tour. Mostly it was the offices, the kitchen, dining area, and recreation area. It was nice. From what I saw, the upkeep was great. It was nice. They accept the animals, which was a plus for me. I don't want to give up my dog. It's close to the Vineyard Church, which I would attend when I could, so I like that. The staff who took me around was awesome. She was absolutely awesome. In fact, I love that woman. I would love to adopt her. She was so helpful and caring. She didn't try to force me into something else. She really listened to what I had to say and didn't try to squeeze me into another box. Their dining area was cafeteria style, but you could order like a restaurant.

I went to look at Northgate Park. They were the most compassionate people. They ask questions about my sister and what they could do for me or how they could help me. The staff was very nice. The rooms were fine. We looked at studios and one-bedroom apartments. They have a walk-in shower, but there's a little hump that you've got to step over. My concern is that somebody could misstep. My sister is going to be wheelchair bound for a while. The hangers where you can hang your clothes in the closet are too high for her to get to. The dining area looked fine. They have a bingo game going on and a shuttle to take them to shopping twice a week. They had a calendar of different events. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming.

The staff, the nurses, and everybody at Northgate Park is very friendly and seemed genuinely concerned about all the residents. All of the rooms have their own patio (which is my mother's favorite thing), because she can decorate it and have a chair to sit outside. They have bingo, happy hour, trivia, card games, and little bus trips to see interesting parts of the city. My mother likes the food, too. Although the place is older, it's still very nice, very clean, and the outside is well manicured. The price we pay is very reasonable.

Northgate Park is very nice. They showed me the whole place and they were very helpful and cordial. They gave me a brochure. It was very high on our list. They had appliances, like a stove and refrigerator. The staff seemed knowledgeable. They had the answer to every question that I had. They even stopped by my home, brought a little gift, and wanted to know if they could help us in any way. Their food is good. The facility was very clean and easy to get around. They seemed to have everything you needed.

I toured Northgate Park. I would recommend it. I like it. But my mom's doctor feels like that's not the kind of care she needs from that facility. My mom needs a memory care facility and that's why we're not going with them. We saw the dining room. It's big and spacious. It's very well-lit because it has windows up in the ceiling like skylights. The rooms were very nice. The whole facility was very nice and very clean. They had different areas where they gather for events, so that was nice. Their grounds are very nice. You got a nice view of some grassy areas from your back patio.

Northgate Park is extremely high. They were assisted living primarily, but they also have independent living. We saw that they have transportation, 3 meals a day. Everyone was like $2300, which I thought was high, but they're like $3100-3200. There were no garages or covered parking; it's just a parking lot out in front of the building. They had a salon and a chapel.

Northgate Park was very nice. I talked to Holly, and she was very passionate about what she does. It was just too far out for me, my brothers, and my mother's friends. It was also an older facility, and it kind of had that musty smell when I walked in, like a nursing home smell. I liked the layout though. It was all one floor and clean, but it was just dated. They had a gym and a chapel that was kind of their activity center also.

We chose Northgate Park for my mother because of the location, the way that it looks, and at that time they had a special on the price. She will be going there next week. They had been responsive and helpful in answering stuff; I mean, I had to go back and forth to ask questions. Everything is on the same level, it's like a big square, and it was clean. It's a good location because it's around a lot of shops, stores, and things like that.

Northgate Park was pretty decent. It was more like a nursing home to me than a retirement home, and that's what I did not like about it. It puts you in mind of a nursing home, and my father just wasn't looking for that. He's in fairly good health and he wanted to be in more of an apartment with services, but not a nursing home. They showed it all to me as much as they could in the midst of COVID. I got to see the apartments and they were nice. It was just the facility itself, which was too much like a nursing home to me. The staff was very helpful and informative. The one-bedroom was small, but nice. It's too much money. I didn't see any of their amenities because they have all their COVID protocols in place, but the staff was able to tell me about those and show me some pictures. I wasn't really able to walk through to that degree because of COVID, which I understand.

My mom stayed at Northgate Park for a month. I really thought the place was lovely and I thought it was a great place for my mom while she heals, but she did not. I went and looked around the property, the outside of the property is really nicely kept. The way it's set up is that every room has access to the outside, so you don't have to go inside the community to get to any room, you can just go in through the outside. And inside looked fine too, it's not like super modern but it's very clean and very inviting. All the people that we've dealt with were very lovely, it's all very easy and user-friendly.

I was impressed with everything at Northgate Park. They had a few problems before, but they worked them out. I wouldn't have booked a room there if they were not doing as good a job. They had good-sized rooms, I know that as I was trying to lay out what furniture to put there. In fact, I may go there someday. The staff that I talked to were very good, when they found out that my ex-wife had passed, they gave me a rebate of what I had paid. That says something very strong for me that they were fair. We had a walk around the place and I ran into a couple of people with their masks on and said hello. One of the things that's really great about this community is that it's a 1-floor place, and the hallways have skylights every 20 feet so there's natural light coming into the hallway. And the dining room also has skylights so there's also natural light coming in there. In other places, the hallways are dark and dank unlike here with natural coming in which is cool. They have pretty good staff. They can't compete with some of the other places, but their prices I thought were terrific for what you're getting.

Northgate Park's rooms were too small. They had a nice set-up, but they didn't have a real kitchen. Even their one-bedrooms were small. The staff members were very nice. They showed me the whole place, which was nice. It looked like they had a whole lot of activities to do, but I just didn't see any happening at that time. Each room had a patio, which was nice. The structure was OK.

Northgate Park had a really nice dining area. The rooms and all the people were very nice. They had a lot of areas set up for different activities daily. They had exercise, group gatherings, movies, people come in for entertainment, and a nice little chapel area. Almost all the rooms had a little patio and sliding glass doors. It's an older facility, but it's well maintained and kept up. As I left the tour, they were so kind to give me a pecan pie that was baked in-house.

My father will have his own apartment at Northgate Park. It was clean and everybody was friendly, but it's more of an assisted living. He had a little medical setback a couple of weeks ago, so we're looking at a nursing home. The staff was wonderful, knowledgeable and helpful. If he was more in physical shape, we would try to go with them, but he would get more individual care at the nursing home.

After looking at a few facilities close to my brothers, my father chose Northgate park. He liked the facilities and the rooms and that it is a month to month rental. I live out of town, so when I visit I spend a lit of time at the facility. Everyone is very friendly and caring. My biggest concern is the food. The menu lacks fresh and low sodium choices. There are a lot of sauces and gravies. My father needs b.c a low sodium diet, and when I asked I was told that their nutritionist said, that low sodium means he chooses not to put salt on his food. There should be healthier, fresher options.

The people at Northgate Park were very nice to us and they had a very good setting. They have a patio on the back of each unit. The dining room was in the center, and they showed us an efficiency room with a bathroom. They also showed us the different lounges and they offered for us to come there for a meal. They also said my mother could stay there for free for a month, so they were very accommodating. The hallways were long so my mom would need to have her room close to the dining hall, which is the only disadvantage that I see.

I really like the vibe of Northgate Park. It's a young community. Even though my mother is in her 90's, she doesn't want to live in a nursing home with a lot of old people, so I think she'd like this facility. I saw a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom and I think she'd beat up the walls and corners with her wheelchair. They have chair yoga, jigsaw puzzles, mass, and they have rosaries everyday. They also have three meals every day to help my mom get out of the room. They have a beauty shop and pharmacy available, they can take care of her meds, help her in and out of the shower, and even provide nursing care should she need in.

My cousin is in Atria Northgate Park. It's clean and neat, has a lot of natural light, lots of lounges, and things to do. It has a greenhouse where people can grow flowers. The staff members are very nice. We have different levels of care that we have to pay for. She's been taking a while to get used to it, but they've been very helpful and everyone is very friendly and nice. It's really lovely. So far, so good. The food is wonderful, but she has problems with it from time to time. They're trying to cook for people that don't need salt, don't need fat, so she has to add lemon and pepper to her own food. They have a wonderful presentation and a lovely menu, and if you don't like what's on the menu, you can get something that you might like instead. They've been very helpful that way. The facility is nice, clean, and well-kept. They have a big fish aquarium which is very nice. The dining room is lovely with skylights, linen tablecloths, and nice napkins, which makes a lovely appearance. They have nice lounges that are fully equipped and a library that's very nice. It's right around the corner from where I live, so it's very convenient. It's on seven acres of property, has lots of trees and grass, and it's all on one floor. It's very nicely done. She needs a lot of extra help, and they're very attentive and very helpful. She has a 1-bedroom apartment and she really loves it. We're happy. It's better than where she came from.

Atria Northgate Park was a beautiful facility. I would have put my parents there in a minute, but it wasn’t the right layout nor the right size for them since they did not have a two-bedroom. They had activities throughout the day and the week. They had a beauty salon and a post office. They made sure that the residents got out with transportation to the grocery store, doctor, and shopping centers. They had a really nice dining room and a nice living arrangement, so if people wanted to be out of their room, they had sitting rooms that looked homey throughout the facility. All the rooms were laid out very nicely. They had options for layout so you could choose a studio or a suite or a deluxe suite. They all had patios. All of the apartments were on the main level, so there were no stairs. They had very wide hallways, so there’s no problem using a scooter or a walker to get around. The staff I met was very nice. The community was nicely maintained and had nice amenities. It was almost like a small city under a roof.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My father moved into Atria Northgate. I didn't have a problem with anything, but what I didn’t like is they used to charge $6 for visitors to eat with him for a meal. Last February 1st they just raised that to $11. It's almost a 100% increase. So we're not eating with him anymore. The portions of the meal sizes are nowhere near worth $11. They seem to have a wide variety of activities. He attends daily rosary sessions, they've got mass for him, bingo, they watch movies, they take them on trips, and they even had a New Year's Eve party for him. He's in the independent living, but they still have people check on him to make sure he's taking his medication. They also help coordinate his doctor appointments. The lady there told me that he doesn't have to go to a lab to do regular blood test. They'll do them right there and sent them off to a lab. It's been a great experience so far. This was the most inexpensive of all the places we looked at, and that's another reason why he chose Atria. However, the parking situation for visitors is pretty far away from the front door. It's a little bit of a hassle with bad weather in Cincinnati, bringing things in there and taking things out. And because they double the lunch prices, I'm not going to give them a 5. I understand that everything goes up in price, but when you do it a 100% increase, wow!

The Atria seemed larger and more spread out, which was OK. It had very nice grounds, but their outside area was not contained within a courtyard, so it seemed to me a little vulnerable. I was worried about Mom taking a walk away from the area. The staff was excellent. It was a nice facility with nice people and dining room. It looked like their activities were well-planned out. The security thing and it being far across town made my mom not think about going there.

My mother-in-law is at Atria Northgate Park. She has dementia, so she doesn’t know everything that’s going on there, but they do offer a lot. They offer a lot of family gatherings. They do a lot to incorporate the family into the day with them. They have nice meals to go along with that, so there are always entertainers. They bring in singers and musicians. They have bingo a couple times a week. They have arts and crafts. They do a lot for the residents. The staff is very kind and caring. The only thing I can say in a negative tone was they actually have a lot of outbreaks that they have to be quarantined. That’s the only negative I can say about the place. The staff has been very kind and very receptive to any questions you have. The nurses are great at that. They’re very kind to my mother-in-law.

We definitely liked our visit in Atria Northgate Park. The lady who gave us the tour was good. We liked the idea that it only has one floor all the way around. My mom really liked that the facility didm't have stairs nor an elevator. The rooms and apartments were fine and of the right sizes. We saw a group of residents playing bingo when we were there. I also looked at their calendar, which had a few things scheduled. We didn't find any issues there, so I would highly rate it.

We were very happy with Atria Northgate Park. It was a very lovely facility, very welcoming, very warm, and very family like. We liked it very much. The dining area was very nice, bright and just lovely. It was more open because the patients there were more ready for independent living. The rooms were very nice. My mother-in-law felt that she would be happy in any one of the rooms that we have seen with each one having a full bath and handicap accessible, with a little kitchenette in each of them. It was more of an apartment style living. The activities were wonderful. They had an exercise room, and they were playing chair volleyball while we were there. They had a library, a table setup for cards, and a nice and bright social area where you could sit and visit with friends, like a living room situation.

The only issue we have with Atria Northgate Park is they have no medical personnel on-staff there, but other than that we like them. They treat my mother good. The staff is very nice and very caring. The food is very good. They have cards and Wii games, but she does not participate. They have some social activities that they try to get her to go to, but she's only been there for two months, and she's still not into that yet. It has a friendly atmosphere and is very home like.

My mother does go to Atria Northgate to play cards with her bridge group, and that's why she was very interested in this place. Her bridge group plays there three times a month, and I have taken her there to play cards, but we did not go on a visit of the facility or anything for her. My first impression was that the people seemed really happy there. They are laughing and talking, and they join her group, sometimes; when they have people that can't come, they will fill in. The people working there seemed really nice. They eat lunch when they are there, and, occasionally they'll have something that she doesn't care for, but for the most part, she is pretty happy with what they have. They have been really happy, and they are still there; they still play cards there. It seems to be clean.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My brother has been a resident of Atria Northgate Park for about 7 years. His care has been excellent and the atmosphere is very relaxed and homelike. There are activities throughout the day and on the weekends. This aspect is very important to my brother because he is relatively young and fairly active. Scheduled transportation is available for shopping, church and community outings. A car service is available for private trips and doctor appointments. Every apartment has a patio...some residents even have pets! The fees are reasonable especially considering all that is included. The meals I have eaten there are quite nice and the servers know each residents preferences. The facility is well run with many employees having been there for years. Our family has been able to enjoy peace of mind knowing that my brother's needs are being met and that he enjoys as much freedom as his physical condition will allow. My brother has been very pleased with his decision to move to Atria Northgate Park.

Great place. I recommend it. I do think they wait too long to get their food though. Food is good but sometimes has to be sent back to microwave, not hot and maybe not enough waitresses.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm happy here at Atria Northgate Park. Regarding the staff, they are qualified and well managed. I dialyze three times a week and they are very cooperative in bringing me there and back. My room is very comfortable. The food is palatable. I'm not very active in terms of facility's activities, but they do have them and they seem to suit the members here very well. They have card games and bingo, but I don't participate in them.

I visited Atria Northgate Park. It was a beautiful facility. Everybody was extremely polite. I really like how the dining area was. I didn't eat the food but everything seemed very pleasant. The place was very clean. What I like about this place was the staff. They were extremely polite and welcoming.

I visited this facility

I visited the Atria, and I was not happy with their rooms. The rooms were very old; I think it needs to be updated. The bathrooms would be hard to maneuver in the wheelchair or a walker, and I just felt the rooms were dingy and needed a lot of updating. The sanitation was fine, I felt their activities were fine, and the general area was fine.

Atria was clean and pretty, and the staff was super nice. They were very nice and helpful. Grandma was pretty happy and positive about the visit. Atria was homey, with no smells.

I actually helped someone moved into Atria Northgate Park. It is very nice. It looks like they maintain it very well. The person I helped has a studio. He doesn't have a full kitchen; he only has a little refrigerator, a sink, and a microwave. He wouldn't cook anyway. He just goes to the dining room and eats there. So that's fine for him. He is also happy with the food there. The people at the front desk are all really nice. The staff is very nice and friendly. They take care of his meds, they help him do his bath, and they clean the room once a week. When we visited, we asked a question of one of the cleaners in the hallway. She introduced herself, and she was very nice.

Atria is a nice place and it’s all in one level. There are a lot of activities, a lot of things to do. The food is great and the staff is quite friendly and accommodating. They’ve got big rooms, it’s just that the location is a bit farther up than where I would go. I would go there if not for the location.

I visited this facility

The one that we liked was Atria Northgate. Went we visited it, my husband and I both fell in love with the place. We liked the way it was set up. We like that it had one floor. We liked the amenities in it. We liked the idea that they had meals preparation and the aides to help with shower and bathing. It was wonderful. We would move there, but we had to wait until fall and they had kept in touch with us.

Atria is perfect. It was a lovely place. They have their own patio. The rooms are very nice. I ate in their restaurant and the food was delicious. They have a great chef. They also have stores where residents can do a little shopping. I know that they had activities, but I didn't get into that part.

I chose Atria Northgate because of three factors. One is location; it is close to our house. Next is the price. The third, and probably the most important, is they didn't try to piece me on everything. They said, this is included in this package, therefore if you need something else, that's in the next package, and so on. Everybody seems to be nice. They seem to have communication problems, which probably a lot of places do. My mother was supposed to get assistance in getting her clothes on in the morning and off at night, and that wasn't happening. Apparently, the administrative people didn't know, I didn't know, and when I finally I went down to ask how things were going, my mother said, "well, they're not doing this and they're not doing that." It's more communication than anything else, I think. They have Bingo, there's a sewing group, and they've got an exercise person there. They do have a library, they got a computer, and they have a general store for stamps and maybe some of the over-the-counter medication and stuff like that.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to review our community. While it sounds like your overall experience with our community has been good, I am concerned to hear about the communication issue. Your review will be shared with the appropriate directors so that we can make sure that your mother (and all residents) is provided with the care and communication she expects. If you would like to discuss this issue further or have any questions, please contact us at customerservice@atriaseniorliving.com and include the Atria community name in your subject line.

The facility and staff was really nice. But it wasn't the place that she wanted because it didn't feel like a home. It felt like an apartment and they only had one-bedroom apartment and it was small. There were no laundry facilities in their unit, you would have to go to another room to do the laundry.

I visited this facility

The assisted living facility is always clean and well kept. The staff is very nice and always helpful. My grandmother loved the facility and I was pleased each time I visited. The only down part of the facility was the organization. At times there would be people in places that seemed out of order or people scattered that could be dangerous with elderly people around. Besides the small organization the facility was great and a please to visit. The best thing about the facility by far is the staff. It is easy to tell the facility took time to hire staff that cares for their job and the things they are doing. I appreciate their generosity and care for each patient. Also they are very knowledgeable about what they do. They also are friendly each time I visit. This is a great facility that I would recommend to anyone or their family.
