Avon Oaks is well staffed. The number of people that they have there is good. My parents get a lot of attention every day. It's not the most modern state of the art place, but it's very clean. It doesn't smell or anything. The people are very communicative. I get calls almost daily if something happens or if they have a question or an issue. Even the administration is easy to get a hold of. I tried a couple other places and I couldn't get people to call me back. They're just overly communicative, whether it's social workers or nurses or attendants, so I think it's a pretty good place. They have all kinds of stuff there. They played bingo and they did a lot with them.

I was able to visit Avon Oaks. The rooms were small and the people were nice. I think it was a lot more expensive than the other place and they didn't take Medicaid. Their dining area was nice and a decent size. The overall living atmosphere was really nice. It felt comfortable and homey. They had a cat that walked around and visited everyone, so I thought that was cute. The staff who gave me a tour were super nice.

Avon Oaks is a small place, with a total of 70 beds. It's a family-run business and the staff is exceptional. They have one nurse per every seven residents, and all the aides are very engaging; they care. It's not a big facility where you feel you're just a number. The residents have lived there for ten to 15 years, so we're very fortunate to find this place for my mom. The food is wonderful and there's a lot of variety. One of the mornings I was there they were serving Eggs Benedict, so it's not just scrambled eggs. It's pretty fascinating and it way surpasses my expectations. They have a huge room where they have a piano, a big screen TV, bingo, and arts and crafts.

The facility is clean, staff are friendly, competent, and effectively communicate with family members in relation to the progression or deterioration of the patient or resident. Staff does well with documenting details in terms of patient care or injury and do not restrain nor over-medicate uncooperative individuals. They allow residents as much freedom as possible while still ensuring their well-being is not over-looked. Several residential rooms allow for individuals to have their own bedroom furnished with their own belongings and furniture and private lavatory, which allow for greater comfort and privacy, beneficial to both the resident and their visitors. Enclosed outdoor space is also available to patients, however, implementation of greater aesthetics and gardening could benefit the space which many residents enjoy.
