My dad is at Lantern of Saybrook. I like that they have a dementia unit. It's a fairly new building. His room is a little studio apartment. It's got one room and a bathroom. He gets three meals a day plus a snack. And there are a bunch of activities that they have. Like Elvis was there, they had a car show, I think they might have had a food truck come, they went to a baseball game, and then they went to an apple orchard. However, they weren't very transparent about the price. And they're not as responsive as I would like either by phone or email.

My mother-in-law is in Lantern of Saybrook. It's very clean. The staff is amazing with her and very pleasant with the rest of the family. It's beautiful, very welcoming, they have it decorated, and there's a big pond out front, and it always has Canadian geese there. They have birdfeeders all around. For those residents that can go out and walk around, the grounds are very clean and kept nice. It smells good. It's just very homey and comfortable. She seems to like the food real well. The dining area is very spacious and they're very attentive to those who require help. They get to select what they want to eat. I think they could improve on the money option. They have a library, a beauty salon, and for those who are able to go outside, they have benches and different things. They have a lot of activities inside for the residents that cannot go outside as well.

I toured the Lantern Of Say brook yesterday. I can consider that place, I just got to work out the financial issues. The staff is excellent, and the rooms are very nice. The staff was excellent. Her name was Joanne. They had a small fridge, a microwave, and every place had a heater and air conditioning. They had an exercise room, a therapy room, and they have a nurse and a doctor on staff 24/7. There's a medical clinic next door.

I like Lantern Of Saybrook the best. It's like a little town that's all under cover. You can do independent living or assisted living. I met with the director, and she's absolutely an awesome human being. The staff is awesome too. The place was clean, and the rooms were large. In fact, the rooms have a window that looks out into an inside courtyard. It was a nice place. The staff members apparently do not have much of a turnover, so that expresses it. The woman who assisted me was awesome. It's very different. It is all self-enclosed like a little town. When you have adverse weather, you're able to walk around like you're outside, which is sort of nice.

Lantern was beautiful, nice, and very quiet, but it was after lunch, so most of the residents were in their rooms. I didn't get a good picture of what goes on. They had private rooms, and I really liked the rooms. The staff was great. They had a library, chapel, store, and exercise room, but they were locked, and I didn't see any interactions.
