About The A.R.C - The Alzheimer's Related Care Community in Jacksonville, North Carolina
The ARC of Dunn is a special care facility specifically designed for Alzheimer's residents. What is especially unique about the ARC communities is they are stand-alone buildings dedicated to the care of Alzheimer's and related dementia residents. The buildings are secure, giving the residents freedom to roam throughout the building, while still remaining in a safe and secure environment.
The first free-standing Alzheimer's and dementia facilities in the state of North Carolina with its' primary goal and mission being exclusively caring for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
The facilities are designed and renovated to fit the needs of this population. Its staff is specifically trained to deal with this disease. Recently The ARC has exclusively developed the Restorative Alzheimer’s Program, which is unique in its approach to Alzheimer's and dementia care. Alzheimer’s Related Care has hallmarked itself as the leader in providing care for those individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
In order for us to fulfill this obligation to the residents and their families we have implemented the following programs.
The ARC has on-site employees, who are certified by the state of North Carolina, to provide accredited continuing education training to further enhance care for our residents as individual needs are identified. These employees are also an integral part of the Restorative Alzheimer’s Programming. This program is implemented in all three of our Alzheimer’s Related Care facilities.
Recently, Alzheimer’s Related Care has implemented the Internal Quality Assurance Survey program.
The Internal Quality Assurance Survey program consists of a Registered Nurse, with over 30 years as a Licensed Assisted Living Administrator, and other licensed professionals will arrive unannounced at an ARC facility to survey all areas of the facility’s operation. This includes nursing, housekeeping, dietary, activities, administration, medical records, and any other aspect of the day-to-day operation of our facilities. Based upon their findings, they will submit a written report to the owner of Alzheimer’s Related Care Corporation and work with facility staff on any areas they find requires attention. This survey will be conducted on a monthly basis. This will ensure we maintain our highest standard of quality of care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The head lady and all the other staff at The A.R.C - Alzheimer's Related Care Community were very, very nice, very informative, and I believe they care about their residents. She was very helpful, very, very nice, and gave me a lot of great information to understand how a lot of these facilities work. It is an older facility but they keep it clean and looking nice. It's just not up to date or upscale like other newer facilities would be. They had an activity board that listed everything that they do daily. They had quite a few things. Everything was limited due to COVID restrictions, so a lot of things where they had people come in and do activities with them has not been done in a year or more. Their dining area is also their common area. So it's like a multipurpose room. All the staff members that I ran into were very nice and friendly. It's a home-like environment.

The staff at The A.R.C. was very nice and very informative. The rooms were clean. It was a small facility, so there were not a lot of amenities. They just had one common room, so they ate there, watched TV there, and played games there. The outdoor spaces were OK, but it was under construction, and they were making improvements. The facility is very old, and it needs updating.

The tour to The Alzheimer's Related Care Community was well. It wasn't really what I was looking for, but they said they're doing renovations. The staff was very nice and very good. They had individual rooms, shared rooms, but it didn't have bathrooms. They had community showers, and I didn't like that part. They had some group activities, and they had a little outdoor area, like a patio. They invited me to come back after they did the renovations.

We visited The Alzheimer's Related Care. The staff was very helpful, very accommodating, and very friendly. She showed us what she had available at the time. The place was older but well run and clean. However, it probably isn't going to work out for my mom at this point. It was a good tour. We felt like the staff answered all of our questions. From what she told me, they have a full-time activities person and a round-the-clock nursing. They really encourage the patients to come out into the main living area so they can interact with each other. When we walked in, there was a lot of people in the lobby. The staff was very caring. The place was clean and orderly. I know the residents were very well cared for. It is an older building but it is in good repair. They even had a nice, small garden outside.

I toured the A.R.C. They gave me the 50-cent walk-in tour. I saw some of the rooms, the common areas, and witnessed the residents and hired hands in there. They answered any questions that I had, the place was secure, and they had an outside area, but theres someone there with the residents, so theres no danger of them wandering off. I didnt see anything that would make me not put my wife in there. The rooms were ample in size, and the staff seemed to be knowledgeable.

My friend went to The A.R.C. It's nice and it's clean. They have activities every day. They have nail painting, the ability to go out to Burger King or Dairy Queen, they have service dogs come in, and they have Bingo and other kinds of board games and mental activities. They do things for special occasions. The staff is very understanding and my friend is doing well.
