I cannot properly express my gratitude for the care that was given to my Mom from the time she arrived at the end of February 2017 to when she peacefully passed away on June 10th of this year. There were many challenges with my Mom but your wonderful staff met every last one. She THRIVED there and I will always praise and recommend Hickory Village Memory Care. The employees there make a HUGE difference, not only in the lives of the residents, but also in the lives of their families. I never had to worry about my Mom while she was under your care and She was always in a happy mood when I visited. I truly thank you ALL from the bottom of my heart.

Having spent years working with senior living facilities, I know good care when I see it. The staff are kind but poorly prepared to care for the dementia population they have. Frequent "reasoning" and expressed frustration with confused residents seen. Too many bruised faces, residents inappropriately (or not at all) positioned in wheelchairs, very little evening or weekend activities to maintain calm, homelike environment rather, the TV is the mainstage of a parking lot of elderly folks in wheelchairs. After too many instances of inappropriate care and residents unattended we took my grandfather out. He has since gained 5 pounds, is able to talk more than he could and wounds are healing! Please ask to see recent surveys and citations before choosing this facility. With better management and staff education this place could improve.

I am very pleased with Hickory Village. The staff is exceptional. While this is my first experience with any kind of nursing facility I did visit a few once the decision was made that my family member could no longer remain at home and Hickory Village was the only one just walking through the front doors I could tell was so much better than all the others. The facility is bright and cheerful, there was not a bad strong odor of any kind. The residents were all dressed and clean. The staff is exceptional. When my family member was accepted I was having difficulty getting her to eat at home. Since being at Hickory Village she has gained weight and seems happy. She transitioned well and I think that's because the staff are so wonderful. There are private rooms but I'm glad my family member shares a room. I would highly recommend Hickory Village to anyone needing this type of facility.

I am very pleased with Hickory Village Memory Care. I saw on some of the reviews that resident's were not fit to live in this facility. This is a Memory Care Locked Unit, which means you have to have a diagnosis of Alzheimer's or Dementia to live at this facility. There are private rooms at Hickory Village. My mother was in a private room since that was all that was available at the time. Once a Medicaid bed became available she was moved to another room. The private rooms have their own bathroom. The Medicaid rooms do not. When my mother was moved I was still very please because all of the rooms are the same size. Mom did have to share a bathroom but we didn't have a problem with that. This is a very clean facility and one of the very few places that has a clean smell. It is very clean and decorated beautiful! The staff is trained with extensive training specifically for Alzheimer's Dementia. The physician is a Geriatric Specialist. That is so important when working with Alzheimer's.. Mom had some difficulty with behavior issues and had been in many other facilities. The doctor's really worked with her and put her on the right medication. It made all of the difference in the world! Mom was having trouble swallowing and was put on pureed food but later was able to eat regular foods again. Our family was very pleased with the dietary staff for working with mom and her food choices to make the transition from pureed to whole foods. I couldn't be happier with a facility than I am with Hickory Village Memory Care. It is mom's home away from home. She transitioned well.. She also loves the snacks that she gets three times a day. The homemade cookies aren't bad either! Thanks Hickory Village for making our mom feel special! We love the staff and appreciate all of the work that is done for resident's with Alzheimer's Dementia! Our family thinks that you deserve 100 stars instead of 5... Excellent Facility!

I went to visit Hickory Village Memory Care. The staff told me that I wasn’t fit to live there, but the facility seemed to be nice.

We choose Hickory Village Memory Care-A DePaul Senior Living Community for our mother because it is the only place that accepts her, but it is a really nice place and we are really happy with the place. The staff is really nice. Everything is all professionally done. The place is really clean and nice. It has no smell. We feel we are lucky to find the place.

My wife is in Hickory Village and it is a locked unit. The light is really good in there and the staff is very good. The rooms aren't really spacious. My wife starts with a room where she has her own private bathroom. But they move her around and she has to share a bathroom. The food is alright but nothing fancy. They have different kinds of menu according to the needs of the patients. My wife has pureed food and other have whole foods. They have ice tea, water and milk.
