We have chosen The Charlotte. It's beautiful; they have beautiful rooms, great service, and great workers there. The best thing about it is the people who work there. My mother has been a resident for three months now. She started out independent, but now she's in assisted living. They have memory care also. The workers are just so friendly to the elderly people and take such good care of them. I'm hearing all this from my mother who is living there. She says that its just a wonderful, friendly place. The facility itself is beautiful, and they offer all sorts of classes, as well as concierge services, for the seniors. It's a nice place, and it's in a good location. She took a studio because that's what she wanted. There were apartments available, but she wanted a studio. They do exercise classes every day. They have themed days. Today is Hawaiian Day, for example, so their activity class this morning was hula dancing with hula hoops. I have a calendar also, so I see what they do all the time. They have activities spaced all throughout the day, and it's a variety of activities. They have activities that are physical, activities that are mind engaging, like trivia, a lot of socials, entertainment, and people who come and play the piano and sing. One time they had a pet parade. They go on a lot of outings. They go and get ice cream, and they go to the park. They also have in-house medical care. They have a group of doctors who will visit the patients in their rooms.

If your family member requires any level of care above medication managment, as a RN, I do not recommend this facility. It is beautifully lit and decorated in the common areas, however it does not make up for the overall poor quality of care. They do have a few conscientious caregivers, but as a whole, the staff lacks consistency and proper training to provide a standard of care the residents deserve. When my family member moved in last year from independent living, it seemed like a good fit. As care requirements increased such as needing help with toileting, incontinence managment, fall precautions, and skin assessment, it became more and more evident that the care being provided was not acceptable. Communication with the resident care director and other staff was poor. After 14 months the decision was made to move to another facility. On the morning of the move, damp clothes in a laundry basket was given to us as we left stating it had never been put into the dryer the day prior. Just one more little thing to add to our many reasons reinforceing our decision to leave. In less than 48 hours, the list of ways the staff at the new facility delivers high quality care was surprisingly longer than even expected. I regret not moving earlier.

My friends parents recently moved in and they have nothing but great things to say about it. Food, events, care, etc. They say everything is top notch.
