The day staff at Berkshire Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is very good, but the night staff is much more difficult to get people to help you in your time of need, only because there are fewer nurses that are available. The food quality is average. It's very basic food, but they try to keep up with people's allergies (although it doesn't always happen). My sister has requested certain food that she's not able to eat, and still, they send it, and then she has to send in a second request for something else, and sometimes she gets it, sometimes she doesn't. The staff are clean-looking, very diligent, and very concerned about pleasantries between the residents. They're always welcoming and wearing very happy smiles. They try to encourage the residents to do whatever they can do, whether it's physical or social, to get out, to move about, and to socialize. The place is very crowded. I think every room is filled almost to capacity. So, it's a hard job for them, because they're constantly taking care of the residents. They are redoing the entire facility now, so there has been major construction. The section that my sister is in is the oldest. It's the last section that's going to be worked on, but they've upgraded a tremendous amount.

My grandmother has been to this facility twice. The first instance, there was an obvious disconnect in her care where a therapist was obviously needed for her to gain her best ability in her physical therapy. She had gone through much hardship and hospitalization before entering mind you. Although there are many well trained and polite workers the administration must be addressed. Which brings me to the second instance, she was placed in the side where all the patients have a form of mental disability. As a patient not needing this care. She was screamed at told she was going to burn in hell which ultimately gave her much anxiety, worsening her condition, sending her back to the hospital. Now she will be returning to this facility today after her treatment at good Sam. As a health studies student at a pristine university i am no stranger to proper health communication methods. The director, Alexa, was inconsiderate to my family during our communication after our situation of our grandmother’s severe condition. She decided to neglect respect and proper health communication methods to the family. I hope this facility treats her right this time…

Berkshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is more suited to my father. He requires nursing home care, and the staff is doing a good job. They're helping him with his needs. I don't have any complaints. The nurse comes into his room because he has to be handfed. There were a couple of incidences where he had to have boots on his feet, and they weren't there. Otherwise, they're very careful and they're very safe. They're taking care of him, and they work very hard. It's not as pretty as the other facilities, but it's not bad. It's more of a nursing home, and it's very reasonable.
