My uncle is in the Home of the Good Shepherd. He seems to enjoy it there. The price is more than twice what I thought it would be because of the medical evaluation that the Rehab did on him. It doesn't really pertain anymore, so I've got to get him re-evaluated so we can get the price down a little bit. Other than that, the place is fine and he's happy there. His room is very nice. He's comfortable there, and the people are very accommodating. His clock stopped working, so we got him a new battery. The maintenance guy right away got it down and put the new battery in. They hung curtains, pictures, and other stuff; they're very accommodating. He says the food is good. I haven't seen it, but I guess he's enjoying it. He says it's really good and tasty.

The tour of the Home of the Good Shepherd was very good. We did a walk-through. We spoke to Sandra, the administrator, and I'd recommend that place. It was very, very clean. There seemed to be enough people around to help. The place was beautiful, and that was a really good place. The room looked spacious, and you could get either a private or shared room. They were nice rooms, and you could bring your own furniture. They had a beauty parlor there and they had the usual activities for assisted living. They have a chapel, and they have a nice dining area. It's upstairs and downstairs and both areas have a place where you could go outside. They have rocking chairs there, and you could sit. It's just like a terrace upstairs, and then downstairs it's like the porch. Very nice. It was laid out very nicely and very easy to maneuver. I have not tried a meal during the walk-through, but I did see people eating at that point. The food looked very good, very appealing. And they had little stations where you could get water, they had cucumber water and another type of water. It was nice.

Home of Good Shepherd Moreau (Home of the Good Shepherd) is very clean and doesn't smell. The staff is all very nice. They have enhanced assisted living, so if my mother-in-law gets worse, she can still stay. If she gets to the point where she's on hospice, she can stay here as well. They help her get dressed and undressed, shower, clean her room, do her laundry, and provide her medicines and vitamins. They have a priest who comes once a week and does mass which she loves, and they have a rosary reading once a week. This morning, she went to see a group singing church songs. They've been very nice in taking her to these things. The staff is wonderful. Maintenance came in to put up the curtains, hooked up the cable, and put in her telephone. They've been marvellous. They offer her two things for lunch and dinner, and if you didn't want any of those things, you can have egg salad sandwich or grilled cheese sandwich, so there are other choices.

My wife chose Home of the Good Shepherd for her aunt. It is relatively close, and it fits everything that we were looking for. I like best that it is a new facility. Maintenance is spot-on. They have one dining room upstairs and one dining room downstairs for the residents. My aunt has been there since probably late December or early January, and it has been really fine. The people there are wonderful. They really work to take good care of the needs of any of the residents. They have all kinds of stuff. They do exercise for them based on what they can do. They also have board games. They have all kinds of activities for their residents. My aunt's room is a one-room unit. It has a walk-in closet and a huge bathroom. It is fairly spacious. It has a big window in it so that my aunt can get plenty of sunlight from the outside. They have a little kitchenette area that has a microwave, a sink, and a small refrigerator. It does have a little bit of hominess to it. You can also bring some furniture that you are comfortable with from your own place. It is pretty cool.
