My mother lives in Surfside Manor. She is suffering from Alzheimer's. And so for that reason, it's delicate as to where she is placed because oftentimes it's very expensive to place an Alzheimer's patient just because of the level of care. But this place I connected with the administrative director, and she was amazing. She was very helpful, very kind, very patient, and very informative. I feel that once we got there, I understood that the entire staff has that same brand of investment in their members. So, the location is far, but I felt it was worth it because of what kind of care my mother received. The facility is basic, but it's clean. They have great activities there. They keep their members busy. They have arts and crafts and bingo.

The services at Surfside Manor were excellent, but it was difficult to get there and to find parking. We didn't like that it had a very large room when you walk in and everybody was sitting there. It was overwhelming. They were updating everything and we were satisfied with that. The staff was exceptional. They knew everybody's name and the residents were interacting with them.

First thing that hits you about surfside manor is the view, it is located near the ocean. It has a beautiful view, and the people in the home are getting really fresh ocean air compared to NYC. The outside of the building not modern, but very well kept. I would guess that this place has been around for a very long time. When entering the home there is a huge area, sort of like a waiting area. I guess it wasn't a waiting area because there where many people who lived in the home sitting around and talking or just walking around. I approached the desk and spoke to a very friendly person who explained to me this is the lounge area. She then asked for my information & who I wanted to see. The front desk explained that she was currently seeing a doctor and would be with me briefly. I waited about 30 minutes and my grandmother arrived, she seemed kind of drowsy, but happy. We talked for a bit while she walked me around the facility, everything looked pretty good. Nice and clean, people doing random activities. We finished the tour in her room. The room was sort of small, but seemed to have everything she needed. After that we decided to go up on the boardwalk for the rest of the visit. All of the employees I met where very friendly, although a bit standoff-ish. I had to approach most and ask questions.
