While I am greatful that there was a place for my brother to live , and basic needs were met, the place could have been cleaner and the smoking in the facility including second hand smoke was horrific. I hope the management changes their smoking policy to have no indoor smoking as my relative developed oral cancer from incessent smoking and second hand smoke , he suffered and passed away one year ago.

Wavecrest is a wonderful place, the staff is caring and exceptional. I have a relative who lives there and he is very happy. When we visit and visit often we always find the place to be quiet and all residents to be happy. It gives my family peace of mind knowing he is well taken care of and all,his needs are met. For whoever wrote negative reviews, I am sure you are writing about a different place. Thank God for Wavecrest.

I DID NOT LIKE THIS FACILITY AT ALL FOR SEVERAL REASONS.RESIDENTS WERE LEFT ALONE IN THE HALLWAYS WITH SOILED CLOTHES AND BRUISES. I ALSO SAW SOME STAFF MEMBERS YELLING AT RESIDENTS AND BEING ROUGH AND RUDE TO THEM. SOME OF THE MENTALLY CHALLENGED RESIDENTS WERE ALLOWED TO ROAM AROUND OUTSIDE WITH SOILED CLOTHES AND BEGGING FOR CHANGE SAYING THEY WERE HUNGRY. MY UNCLE COMPLAINED ABOUT BEING VERBALLY ABUSED ON A DAILY BASIS HE ALSO COMPLINED ABOUT STAFF MEMBERS TAKING AWAY HIS POCKET CHANGE. SHORTLY AFTER WE REMOVED MY UNCLE HE PASSED AWAY WE FOUND OUT THAT HE WAS BEING GIVEN TO MUCH MEDICATION FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME AND HIS MEDICATION AND LIVER FUNCTION WAS NOT BEING MONITORED CORRECTLY BY THE MEDICAL STAFF THERE. I WOULD NOT RCOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE I THINK THIS PLACE SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. WHEN EVER I ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TREATMENT OF MY UNCLE THEY ALWAYS SAID THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT. BUT I NEVER GOT ANY ANSWERS, IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO LET THE PEOPLE ROAM AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN THEY OBVIOUSLY NEED ASSITANCE TO THE RESIDENT AND THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN THE AREA.IT MADE ME VERY SAD TO SEE ALL THOSE PEOPLE BEING MISTREATED THAT WAY. HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL FIX THESE PROBLEMS. FARROCKAWAY IS A BEAUTIFUL BEACH FRONT PLACE AND COULD BE NICE PLACE TO LIVE BUT THIS FACILITY IS NOT A NICE PLACE. IT NEEDS A LOT OF WORK. PLEASE FIX IT BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR LOST OR SOMETHING EVEN WORST.

"My sister is in Wavecrest Home now. She's alright there. She's fine. Although she was trying to get out of the facility because she wanted to find a house where she could be more independent. She's with a whole bunch of groups of people and like they all eat dinner at the same time and stuff like that and she was saying that she "didnt get enough to eat" and "i wanna be able to cook my own food". My sister said she's ok but she wish they would let them have more food. She would also like to have her own bathroom because others complain if she takes too long in the bathroom, so thats the only thing. They watch over her which is good. They seemed alright to me. The room is alright. I just think that the bathroom situation needs to be better and the way they cook and serve the food and stuff.
