My mom was a resident of Walden Place. It was a very nice facility, but it was very expensive, and that was one of the reasons we had to move her because of financial reasons. They took very good care of her. They were very nice and never had a problem. That was important to me. The staff was wonderful. They were very accommodating. They were friendly. Whatever she needed, they did it for her. I only ate there one time and the food was excellent, and my mother never complained about food. She always said it was very good. They have an activity room where they have books and puzzles. They did have that in the facility. A lot of the residents didn't utilize it, but because in the memory care unit, I don't think they were able to utilize that. They had chair exercises, they had coloring, and they had a garden, a really nice fenced area for them to walk around or sit outside. They had a lot of stuff. We were looking for an assisted living place, and it was within her budget. She could afford it, but then when they moved her to memory care, the price went up.

We're in New York right now at Walden Place Cortland. It's exceptionally good. It is clean, and the people are very friendly. They have a lot of services. They do our laundry, they make our beds sometimes, and they'll change our beds. The food is good. The kitchen help is very pleasant. They address us by name, so it's quite nice. They have a lady that has a beauty shop here, and some of the girls will do your nails for special occasions. They take people to Walmart shopping or just out for a drive, and they have a planned schedule during the day with chair exercises. They have had singers this Christmas season, which have been very good. They have movies. They remind you to come for meals. They will be having a new activities director come in, too.

I was really happy with Walden Place. It was very clean, and the staff was very nice. I saw the menu for lunch and dinner, and it looked good. The nurse when my mother was there 20 years ago is still there and I was surprised to see her. They had bingo, music, arts and crafts, shopping, and trips occasionally. I went through the dining room and saw the library and the sitting room. There's also a beautician there.

The least I liked about Walden Place was the distance away from our home. The most I liked about it was that it was similar to the one that my grandmother was in. The rooms felt dormitory-style, and it wasn't more family-oriented. Activity-wise, it looked like a nice place for my mother-in-law to be. They have a sitting room where people can go and visit. They have an activity room where they can go and do different activities. They had a dining place. The staff took the time to talk to me and asked me questions. They were concerned about what we needed and not what they needed. They called me right up, assisted me, and took care of me. So it looks like a very communicative place.

My sister moved into Walden Place. So far, so good. She likes it. She's allowed to have her small dog with her. She says the food is really good. The staff has been fine. Any time we've had a need, we just call and we speak to someone about it. It's going really well, and she seems happy. I haven't heard any complaints about Walden Place at all. Her room is adequate. She has enough room for her dressers and her bed. She has brought things home to make her feel comfortable. It's a country setting, so it's nice, it has got lots of grass, and it has a nice area outside to be able to sit and walk the dog and be with people. We have not been inside because of the coronavirus. We only could interact with the staff outside in the entranceway and over the phone. I saw her room through her window from the outside, and it was nice and everything looked clean and neat. It had a refrigerator and a sink. I haven't had any complaints about them at all. They sent a newsletter yesterday for my awareness. There are events that go on throughout the day for them, which is impressive. They're not just sitting there. They're very quick, very efficient, and seem to meet all of our needs.

Walden Place was nice. The people who lived there were happy and had things to do. We enjoyed the dining area, lunch choices, and thought that it was a really nice and pretty place. The rooms were small since it was an efficiency, and had a bathroom at the side. They took us to the community room, TV, room, and the library. You could use the party room, and they take people to appointments. They have community things, movie nights, and game nights.

Walden Place is a great place. It is impressive. It's a nice and homey place. It would be a wonderful place for somebody's mother. The person who assisted me was very friendly. I didn't try the food, but the dining area looked nice.

I am in assisted living right now at Walden Place. They serve 3 meals every day -- breakfast, lunch, and supper. I have been here four years. The staff is very friendly, and they watch out for you. Walden Place has 2 drivers, and they take me to the doctors. They have a very caring staff; very nice people run this place. They do our laundry every week and clean our room. And if you don’t feel well, they will bring your meals to your room.

We chose Walden Place because it had both senior living facility as well as memory care. We had actually gone into a different facility that was just a senior living facility, and my mother started having dementia show up, and so they kicked her out after four days. We looked up some places and ended going to visit Walden Place and liked it. They became so accommodating; it was incredible. We think they're really great people. She's in memory care, but what they do is they bring her over to do Tai-chi, get her nails and hair done, and do games because in the memory care she's more restricted in terms of what she can do compared to what the senior living people do. They take her out for ice cream and on road trips. Sometimes she participates and sometimes she doesn't. They were going to try to get her involved in some of the light bookkeeping because that's what she used to do, but she's failed so much that I don't think they could possibly do that. She had a 15-year-old dog they let her bring in. They have a little patio in that section, so it's really working out quite well. They have a lot of attendants, which is incredible, compared to the other places we visited. I think there's a nurse on staff. I didn't see a doctor. There's an office with a nurse in it.

We are delighted that your Mom (and her adorable dog) has joined our Memory Care Neighborhood. Ensuring that our residents are engaged in meaningful activities is central to what we do. We are so happy that your family is pleased with your Mom’s care at Walden Place. Thank you for your kind words.

During the time my brother was a resident here, he received compassionate, comprehensive care. It was more difficult than anticipated to find a good fit for a disabled veteran, but Walden welcomed him and worked hard to meet his special needs. When they could no longer meet the level of care he required, they worked side by side with me to find an appropriate new home. Hard to find the words to express my gratitude.

The hardest decision I have ever had to make was to place my mom in a memory care unit. I looked extensively at nursing homes and memory care units. I spent 6 months looking and wondering what to do. I had been taking care on my mom for 7 years and was just not physically or emotionally able to do this anymore. Jessica was wonderful and let me tour Walden many times even bringing mom in to eat and do some of the activities. She never pressured me but was so understanding of how hard this decision was for me to make. I thank God everyday I have mom living in the memory unit at Walden Place. It is amazing. Mom is well taken care of-physically, spiritually, emotionally, and cognitively. I am at Walden Place often and at many different hours of the day so I have had many opportunities to watch staff interact with mom and many residents. They treat everyone as if it was their mother or father they are interacting with, Mom is happy and feels she is home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you to Becky, Angie, Jen, Jayden, Marie, Christina, Pat, Linda sue ,Aimee, Lisa, Laurie, Bev, and all the other staff for giving me peace of mind and accepting mom as one of the family. If you are looking for a loving place with fun, laughter stimulation, wonderful care, great food, and sense of family; you will find it all at Walden Place.

I'm a pharmacist, and for many years I have worked in a lot of care facilities. Walden Place is in a perfect location. It is very close to a Wal-Mart and a grocery market if the family members wanted to shop for their loved ones. But the facility itself is on a dead end street. It is easy to get to, but it is still secluded. There's a nice wooded area around there. The people there are just delightful. It is a small town with nice outdoor areas. If I lived in that area, it will definitely be a facility I would consider for my parents.

This place is WONDERFUL! The staff, the food, the atmosphere, the activities, the apartments and the location. I needed to find somewhere for my grandfather and there are limited options locally. He didn't need a nursing home, but couldn't live in his home safely anymore. Luckily, he qualified for a special veteran's benefit for assisted living that helped make this amazing place possible. He loves the food, his apartment, his new friends and getting out to do things. At 87, this is the happiest I've seen him since my grandmother dying three years ago. It's worth every penny.

The only one that I've been to is Walden Place. It's not for me. It is too small, too crowded and it doesn’t impress me at all. I live out in the country and going into a place like that is going to make a lot of difference. This one lady in there showed us all around. The food was good. I think they have activities by I am not sure. The staff was very nice. It was a nice place; it wasn’t for me.

We can’t say enough about Walden Place and its amazing staff. Yes the facility is clean and well kept as you would expect. And there are plenty of activities for the residents to get involved in, which you would also expect. Exercise, Bible Study, Arts and Crafts, Bingo, Field Trips, Manicures and so much more. However what you may not expect is the true passion that the staff has for its residents. Our Mother recently had a doctor’s appointment, to which she needed a ride. Walden provided her with a ride, but it didn’t stop there. Her driver walked her into the doctor’s office, she didn’t need him to, but he did. Upon picking her back up, he let her know that he had to pick up a few other residents from appointments on the way back. Knowing that they would all be missing lunch, the driver had brought a copy of the lunch menu with him. Once everyone was picked up he called into Walden Place and placed everyone’s lunch orders so that they would have a hot lunch ready for them when they got “home”. That is going above and beyond. When my husband and I were out of town and Mom had to be taken to the hospital. The staff at Walden really stepped up. They called and checked on her everyday and then contact us and let us know how she was doing. When she was released, Walden Place even went to pick her up for us. Mom loves her life at Walden. She has made many new friends and tried things that she would never have tried. Her quality of life and health have increased since moving into Walden and we have the staff at Walden Place to thank. We would recommend Walden Place to anyone looking for an assisted living facility. It’s a loving caring environment that will enhance your life or the life of someone you care about.

My brother is a resident of Walden Place. The decision to place David in a facility was difficult but necessary. Thank God for the staff at Walden Place. They treat my brother like he was family. Other relatives that have visited him say he has gained weight and is so very happy and content. When I call him on the phone he keeps telling me how good the food is and how nice everyone is. You can't ask for more. If I have any concerns or questions the staff are always available to assist me as well. Thank you again for your professional, yet caring, approach to your residents.

One "wing" of the this Assisted Living Facility is dedicated to Memory Loss. As with any care facility, Walden Place is not 100% in every area but pretty darn close. The residents in Memory Care are treated with the utmost respect and the facilities are top notch. Programming is structured so all residents have several activities each day and are stimulated both physically and mentally. The food is superb!! All residents join in a common room and socialize during mealtime. This is in no way your perceived "Nursing Home." Medical treatment is not part of the plan but everyday medication delivery is. This is an ideal facility for those who are not bed ridden and still benefit from interaction.
