My mother-in-law is in rehab at Elderwood at Cheektowaga. She has been there for a couple of days now. So far, our experience is very positive. It's very clean. They're very understaffed, unfortunately, but I found that everywhere I went. The staff is as responsive as they can be given the fact that they are understaffed. The OT, PT, and speech rehab have been wonderful so far. They have been very communicative with the family, and they immediately evaluated her. The place itself is a bit dated, but it is very clean. My mother-in-law is in a double room. So far, we're very happy with everything. My only complaint as of now would be that they only shower two times a week. My mother-in-law would prefer to be showered every day. There are some shared rooms and some single rooms. I know that they have bingo, so they do have activities. They have a beauty salon, which my mother-in-law was very happy about. They have a very nice outdoor area where you can bring the residents out to visit. The staff has been very, very friendly and very responsive to the family. Also, they require COVID testing. They provide COVID testing and everyone who enters has to have a COVID test.

There are stellar staff members, but unfortunately they are short staffed almost every weekend. Make sure you visit your loved one regularly to ensure better care. Social worker Melissa, nurses Kelly & Paula, aide Mike are very good at their jobs. Common areas look cleaner than actual resident rooms.

I went to the skilled nursing and also the patio homes at Elderwood Assisted Living at Cheektowaga. The nursing facility was very clean. The staff was very nice. My cousin was in there. They were very pleasant, very warm, and bright. They had an area like a library where she could put headphones on and have a book read to her through a tape because she was blind. They had a large variety of different books that could be read to her. Her room was a good-sized, comfortable double. It had a single bed with a stand and a television set, a telephone, a good-sized closet, a bathroom, and a bulletin board. There was plenty of room for her wheelchair, and she had two chairs for visitors. The staff was very nice and very pleasant. I never saw anybody get angry. They had quite a variety of food. She enjoyed everything that she ate there. It was very welcoming and very clean.

I had scoliosis correction n lumbar fusion surgery. I couldn't move 4 days after severe pain. An Elderwood wheelchair van picked me up @ hospital n I felt a little worried @ first but after being strapped into van by the driver I was extremely pleased n felt better. Upon leaving hospital he drove a little slow n took turns slow so that it didn't cause any more pain to me. After I got to Elderwood facility drive unwrapped me n got me out of van in covered me in blankets... was Dec. 6th in buffalo so was cold!! Then got right in building to room n several aids where there to get me in bed n comfortable. I've now been here 1 week n I'm getting out of bed using walker and getting in wheelchair with ease... the rehab here is fantastic!! The staff is great and didn't make me feel awkward since I couldn't do anything. I highly recommend Elderwood in Cheektowaga on Bennett!!! I thank the staff here everyday for doing a great job n that I appreciate all they do!!! If I haven't mentioned I'm male,6'2" n 368lbs...
