Many of the rooms are private although some are semi-private. Some face a beautiful ocean view while others, like mine, faced the parking lot and nearby streets which I enjoyed looking at. The cleaning and maintenance staff are extraordinary. The rooms and the entire building are thoroughly cleaned and immaculate. I found the nursing care and the aides to be wonderful. The physical therapy is helpful, and depending on the therapist, OT can be outstanding as well. The food is decent. The entertainment was pleasant. I had a very positive experience and recommend Menorah highly.

It's a nice building, but it has It's dark side. My mother has been there for nearly three months, and my sister and I visited her everyday for at least three or four hours a day. The staff will leave patients soiled for hours, they rarely check on the elderly not to mention the food was always cold even the soup. My mom was so upset just being there. I would not advise no one to leave they're love one's here alone, especially for the hospice care. My mother is no longer staying at this place

My mom is in the facility at the moment. She can't walk. Terrible experience: food is very bad, the staff is ignoring her, for 2 days no one comes over to check on her. Her bed is next to a window that was open, mom got cold and sick, no one would come in and close window. Staff is nasty and ignores patients. I am trying to call all day social worker to get my mom out of this place but she is not available...

After knee replacement surgery, my husband went to Menorah for rehabilitation, and was discharged 10 days later able to climb up and down stairs, and walk a significant distance with his cane. Staff were caring professionals who made all the difference in jump starting his return to a normal, active life. Kudos!!

Our mother was a resident at this facility from mid-December 2022 until her passing in early February 2023. She was a resident on the rehab floor, E3. She received exceptional care and attention from ALL the staff members on this floor. Her health issues did not allow her to communicate with her caregivers. Being bedridden, her daily care never lapsed due to the vigilance of the aides and nurses. This did not affect how she was treated by this amazing and professional staff. She was treated with patience, respect, gentleness, and caring. As she was passing, they gave the family the privacy needed. When Mom passed, their compassion in the way they treated both her and her family helped eased the grief of the moment.

This facility has very nice rooms. Food is very questionable. Service depends on an individual aide. Doctor, as a human being was good, in terms of knowledge below average. I have changed rooms twice and both times my personal belongings were missing. Called facility numerous times, from desk hangs up on you. Spoke with storage supervisor. Spoke with other people in charge, came over to the facility-nothing!!! Nobody wants to take responsibility for missing items, nobody wants to look into people who are in charge of the storage facility/people who are packing your belongings. Very sad.

My father was at Menorah Nursing Home. It was fine. I can't say anything bad about this place. The place is completely freshly painted and clean as any place I've seen. The nurses are professional, responsible, and caring. They were very compassionate people. The food was good.

Staff members are very nasty to visitors. I personally had two people that were very nasty to me.The first was the day of arrival of my sister person at front desk I filled out Covid form incorrectly they were very nasty about that . Second time time was getting a COVID’s test by an employee .Residents sit all day either in rooms or watching tv in main area. But never go for rehab after surgery .No schedule for Pt and only once a day after surgery for a half hour. Hard to get ice after surgery only nurses can give??? Would never want anyone I love again in this place agin. One positive is food is good and nursing staff very good. Other staff members are nasty to patients and visitors. if you love your relatives don’t send them to this place . My sisters room mate told her she was sitting in front of a TV set in main area by nurses station for hours . Location might be a nice place over looking the water but if your relative needs help this is the last place I would send them.

Awful experience overall! There are very nice people working there (the security downstairs and one particular nurse are wonderful), but they are lost in a sea of incompetence and horrid carelessness and indifference to other people’s suffering. A few months ago they finally resumed visitation, after being on a lockdown, but since, I believe, September, the only way to see our loved ones is to take them outside. Oh boy, that’s a real torture, because it takes at least 30 minutes, but often longer than an hour every time for the staff to bring residents out due to various reasons. I’m not claiming that none of them are valid, but the visits are required to be scheduled at least a day ahead, I’d expect for that particular reason, so everyone is aware and prepared. I don’t even want to go to the fact that residents hygiene is not a priority for the staff… it’s just horrible. And being understaff is a ridiculous excuse, because it was that way even before they started constantly announcing it.

My father is currently at this facility. We are having a big issues with this place. Patient is in pain after the surgery, and staff forgot to give him a pain medication. My father was requesting meds during the whole day, having a terrible pain, but his requests were just ignored. Doctor even didn't try to check the patient's condition, and when we called, he told us that patient is doing great and feeling much better, despite that at the same time patient was trying to get help and was literaly crying at his room. Also the food is horrible, I don't understand what are the roles of their dietitians, if they have them on duty. Most of the patients require specific diet, but this point is also completely ignored. This rehab is just a bussines. Whoever is thinking and looking for place to have their loved ones to be safe and get an appropriate care, please STAY AWAY from this place!!!

I had my mother in a nursing home in Brooklyn called the Menorah Home. She couldn’t stand it as they were not dedicated; to them, it was just a job. We are in-between satisfied and not satisfied. The place was a little dirty, and the food was horrible. They do physical therapy in the morning and usually have arts and crafts during occupational therapy and physical therapy, though most residents cannot join. They never spaced out the activities.

My mother is in Menorah. I recommend it very highly. It is very clean. The help is very good. They have a lot of activities for the people. I have been there 3 or 4 times. Every time that I am there, they are very helpful, and they pretty much take care of her. I am very happy about that.

My mother was a resident of Menorah Nursing Home for 8 days. She was neglected for all that time. The following instances occurred. She fell off bed with bed alarm attached. Staff did not respond right away. There was not enough staff to take care of oxygen, therefore 5 times the oxygen ran out. We were told they check the oxygen by memory. The attending Dr.on the floor had a difficulty deciding to send her to the hospital when she couldn't breath and called a family member to make the decision instead. Also the Dr. was told when she was admitted that she needed support embolism socks. The Dr.said she didn't need it and 3 days later she got edema in the legs and then the Dr finally gave consent for the socks. I do not recommend this nursing home to anybody.

The facility is sparkling clean with a pleasant atmosphere and great views of the water. The nursing staff and other personnel are helpful, friendly and caring. The residents are well taken care of. There are many areas where familes and friends can sit with their loved ones. The physicians are professional and thorough.

The facility is fairly decent, however, the social workers are horrible people who have no empathy for their patients and are ready to kick them to the curb if the patient presents any kind of problem. The head of the social services, Rita, terrorized my 80 year old grandmother to hire a person to watch my 89 year old grandfather after he left the facility (of his own accord) due to the fact that there was no security at the front desk. When she refused, my granfather was send to the hospital psych unit without the family being notified that he was transfered. He was in the hospital for a week when we first learned that he was transferred. This kind of behavior is unacceptable for a facility that is supposed to care for the elderly. Not only that but they wouldn't even guarantee a bed for his to return.

This nursing home is exceptional compared to others in the New York Metro area, although there are some drawbacks. The first drawback to this facility is the fact that staff take much longer than what is perceived necessary to answer a call (residents get staff caller buttons in their beds along with the bath). The staff also do not clean as much as expected (they clean once a week), and bedridden residents are forced to spend many days or a week without bathing - as my elderly grandparent explained. There is also the problem of stealing, my grandparent reported that items were taken from her room - including small amounts of money, while she was sleeping. The scary thing is the fact that people just walk in to the room without her knowing, not the stealing. However, the staff were willing to issue my grandparent a locked cabinet drawer to store her expensive items to prevent anything from being stolen.
