The rooms are well laid out. You have plenty of room to make it as personal as you would like but not feel overwhelmed. Granite counter top in bathroom is beautiful. Plenty of daylight through windows. Facility is very cleaned. Looked at 15 other facilities before choosing this one. I know that my mother is well cared for which is a huge relief. Staff enjoy working there. Food always smells great and plenty to choose from. Grounds are well maintained. Couldn't ask for more.

We love Van Dyk Park Place because we feel my Mom is safe, is cared for, and enjoys living there. It is a family owned facility which really makes a difference compared to huge corporate facilities. For instance, Bob Van Dyk shows up at many events held at Van Dyk Park Place. When you walk in it looks like a beautiful hotel. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and they all lovingly talk with my Mom throughout the day. If I call to speak with a staff member about something concerning my Mom, I immediately hear back from them and the issue gets addressed. We love the director of activities who is terrific and my Mom really likes the activities involving art, singing and entertainment. There are a lot of other activities as well such as exercise, memory games, religious events etc. The food is always terrific with many options. If you want something special or different for your meal they will try to make you something. There are multiple parties and events involving family and food and entertainment. Just went to a spectacular Christmas event at Van Dyk with two Broadway singers singing carols, Santa and a trio greeting guests and great food. I highly recommend visiting to see for yourself!

Can’t say enough great things about Van Dyk Park Place in Hawthorne! As soon as you drive up to the building you feel a sense of peace and comfort. The facility is not only set on a beautiful property, but it is immaculately maintained both inside and out . It is beautifully decorated for every season. A few residents even have their private gardens on the patio including my mom ! There are so many daily activities for the residents, which keeps my 100 year old mom busy all day long from morning until after dinner ! Everyone is so good to her that my family and I feel more than comfortable with her living there. After visiting several other assisted living facilities, we chose Van Dyk for our mom! It is by far a safe, caring and wonderful place to call home!

My Mom has been in Van Dyk for 3 years. First two years during Covid. When asked how she likes VD she states I LOVE IT. Mom didn't really want to leave her home that she lived in for over 65 years. She gave VD a chance and is happy she did. My Mom’s two sisters see firsthand how adjusted and active their sister is and decided to join the Van Dyk family. Trust me we did look elsewhere. We visited VD twice and, on the 3rd, visit we signed up. We realized it had what the others did not. It’s privately owned by a caring CEO whose main focus is to ensure contentment not only with the residence but with the entire staff. VD has cheerful rooms; plenty of activities, a wellness center staffed with professional nurses, physical therapists, a great chef, and the aids are extremely friendly and helpful with all the residence. We all want our loved ones in a safe and happy environment. Take a look and you will see firsthand why my Mom is so happy here.

My sister moved into Van Dyk Park Place. I like that it has a lot of activities that she will enjoy. It has a lot of different areas for families to sit and talk, so you don't have to sit in her room or anything. It is just set up very conveniently for everybody who stays there. I have not tasted the food, but she thinks it is very good. She liked what she had so far. There is a good variety. If you don't like what they have, they'll give you something else. Her room is on the smaller side, but that was all that was available at this time. It fit everything that I wanted to move in. It fit her complete bedroom set and a recliner. They allowed her cats to come, too. It was very important that her cats could come with her. The staff is very, very friendly. The aides are very good with her. She doesn't need much help, but they make sure she gets to her meals. They will wake her up for breakfast; otherwise, she would sleep through it. They've been very, very helpful and very considerate. It's very clean and really comfortable. She is just starting to go to the activities today. The calendar looks great. It looks like they have lots to do.

I liked Van Dyk Park Place very much. It was a little too big for my aunt and a little bit further. I only spoke with the girl who was the sales representative, and she was very good. They have a beauty parlor and activities. The facility was very clean. It was like being in a hotel. It's not that close to a hospital, but it's not that far either.

I'm leaning towards Van Dyk Park Place because of the location of my mother's home. The staff was exceptionally kind and greeting and forthcoming. There was a bistro there, and it has the largest rooms of any of them. You get what you pay for, but they're moving my mom out of her house and we knew we would have trouble getting her to leave her things. So by having a larger room, she's able to bring a few more things with her and feel a little more at home. They have lovely outdoor spaces, very nice indoor spaces, when we got there they were decorating for the fall with beautiful decorations. That's another thing my mother likes-- to decorate for the holidays so that would make her feel a little more at home. So it ticks a lot of the boxes. It was immaculate, the yards, everything including the outdoor and indoor space. They were renovating but it didn't spill out into where the residents were.

Van Dyk Park Place was a beautiful and elegantly cared-for community. The people and the staff were all very warm, very friendly, and very compassionate. My mom's room setup was absolutely beautiful, and they did a wonderful job moving her in. It was easy and smooth. I had a little problem getting her medical bed over. It was phone tag with an outside company, but they stepped in and said, "No worries, we can help you out for a few days until your bed comes." I thought that was wonderful. Nicole absolutely made all of the transition very, very easy and made me feel very comfortable. Pam was wonderful, too. They made themselves very open to doing FaceTime calls with her any time I wanted, and they're following through with her care, like her occupational and physical therapy. They were all so helpful and so kind. She is in a shared suite, but she has her own bathroom, which was a big plus, because a lot of these places only have a shared bathroom. One of the nice things they did was to waive the move-in fee for me, and that was a huge savings. They also did all her COVID shots before moving in, and I think she's getting her second one today. I understand that it's privately owned, but it felt more like a personal family transition. It's just been really, really great.

Very beautiful space with kind staff but the residents seemed bored and disengaged. There didn’t seem to be a lot going on and the costs were significant. There wasn’t much of a chance for folks with memory impairment to go outside on a regular basis.

We went to Van Dyk. It seemed nice, clean, and the people that were there seemed happy. The admission girl seemed pleasant, informative, and caring. I saw studio apartments, and they were pretty good. They serve three meals a day, and they have a bistro. It seemed like a nice enough place.

My mom is in Van Dyk, and everything is really nice, but they don’t have any Wi-Fi or computers available to the residents. It’s very large but still homey at the same time. The staff is very good. The room she had was a very large studio, it’s comfortable, and it had a little separation between the bed and the living area. They had games, entertainment, and music, Christmas fun, and exercise. She liked the food and she gained weight. The dining area was beautiful, big, and open.

My mother's cousin moved into the one in Hawthorne named Van Dyk. It looks clean and new. They have friendly people, and it just looks like a nice place. The apartment is a nice size, and I am just pleased with it. The woman at the front desk was very helpful. We couldn't figure out where she was, so the woman got up brought us to the elevator and told us exactly what to do and where to go. She just seemed really very kind and very nice. If we had any questions we could come back to her. My cousin is very happy with it because every night she says there is music, and there is always something. She even went to the church for the first time in many years. She's only been there for three or four days, and she already found a friend. We were surprised because she was very nervous about going, and it ended up working out. She was alone for like over a year. She asked how she stayed home alone when she should have just come here because it is such a nicer place. She doesn't have to cook and she doesn't have to clean, and she is just happy. I'm very happy with it.

I've known about Van Dyk's for years because I live in New Jersey. It's very lovely inside. The decoration of the public rooms is over the top, and it's all very grand. The private rooms that I was interested in and I could afford were very small, and there were only two windows in the room. I could not stay in a place like that. There was one of the people who worked as a representative of that place. She was with me, she was very pleasant, very nice. I looked at their menu. Their menu looked interesting, but then lots of menus look interesting. I saw their library. I was not impressed.

Van Dyk's Park Place was a very nice facility. It's family run and they have been in the business for 60 years. We have my mom all set up and she will be moving in there next week. This place is wonderful. It's a very happy place. We went to a lot of different places and this one has very large rooms. Even the smallest ones they have were larger than anything else we'd seen. Also their food is excellent.

Van Dyk Park Place is very good, very accommodating and very caring. Besides the fact that it's very warm and homey, it's like a family and that is very important. They're excellent.
