Over the past three years my parents have enjoyed stays at Wheelock Terrace sometimes in assisted living and lastly, permanently, my mom in the Gardens, memory care. Praise comes to mind: --KINDNESS —RELATIONSHIP --WELCOMING --CLEAN AND WELL KEPT --FEE APPROPRIATE FOR QUALITY AND CARE --HEALTHFUL MEAL CHOICES --SPACIOUS ROOMS WITH WINDOWS --AVAILABLE STAFF —ACTIVITIES (honoring Covid guidelines) —MEDICATION AND MEDICAL COOPERATION —AID IN FAMILY INVOLVEMENT --SUMMARY: Wheelock Terrace provides a life we previously dared not expect for elder care and memory loss. It is a blessing.

We were in Wheelock. They had a memory care unit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They always were courteous. They were well trained. They helped my husband feel like he was really well cared for. They were very caring and very good. The food was very good. My husband had a bedroom and a living room. For one person, they were satisfactory. They had the regular activities, i.e., music, people coming in and giving lectures, musical concerts, etc. They had an activity room and a library. Location there was good. It didn't have a view, but it was near the hospital.

The best and most important component of my Dad's facility is the people. Wheelock Terrace is staffed by absolutely dedicated men and women who have obvious commitment as providers. The amenities are somewhat better than typical for such facilities with generous rooms for the residents and numerous comfortable common areas. The comprehensive and jam-packed offering of activities available can make everyday a full one. Wheelock bring in musicians, artists, authors and actors, and encourages participation from the residents as well as their families. And although my Dad hasn't always gone along, but there have been outings for shopping, museum-going, concerts and the like, and even just foliage tours. We moved my father from a facility in North Carolina that provided a much more detached welcome: he feels so much more comfortable at Wheelock, and although his condition has not improved, he has declined far more slowly and far less significantly in his newer home.Eating has always been my Dad's great love, and Wheelock Terrace employs a kitchen staff that caters to old foodies like him. He and by extension, I feel satisfied that he is being treated with respect, consideration and perhaps even love.
